To the OP: I understand your frustration, but you have to understand that the total amount of content before things moved to DSON exceeds that which came after. That means that thousands of items are in Poser format and some of which never had DS materials to begin with. The guys and gals at Daz 3D have done a lot of work in making older content available more easily through the DIM but it's an ongoing process. The sheer volume of work means it's not going to happen overnight.
In this instance, it wouldn't hurt to be a little format-savvy and keep an eye out for potential dual-formats like this.
OK,
I understand your arguments.
But, especially for newer users, it would be really helpful to have the explicit hint in the product description - at least in the "what is included" section - that the poser package has to be installed too to have the working content.
I understand that it is a lot of work to transform all the older stuff. But up to the final state these hints are mandatory !!
And I missed these helpful answeres I got here, from the DAZ users helpdesk.
Another noob here. :-)
I install by DIM, so I get both the Poser ad DS file format on the old item. When I started out with DAZ Studio, I ran into the same problems as you did, but by trial and error, found out what goes where. :-)
When you install older content, under "DAZ Formats" it will only show the texture files (that is the script).
The actual props are listed under "Poser Content" --> "My DAZ3D Library" --> either in the "Props" or "Figure" sudirectory. Depending on the set, you might have to check both subdirectories to get everything completed.
