New Installed Morphs Not Appearing

Hi, I'm fairly new to Daz Studio. I have been exploring and trying to learn. Its very confusing, but I'm beginning to learn my way around.

I purchaced Victoria 4.2 Base Studio CF, shapes and muscle morphs to start with and using the installer button on the website to install them. It opened the Daz installer and I installed them. I selected the Victoria base and it opened the power loader to add the morphs, which I did. They all appeared in the parameters and shapes tabs and all work fine.  All these appear in the left panel under Products V.

Later I bought the Genesis 8 Female body morphs, head shapes and the HD muscle morphs which I installed from the website install button as well. The muscle morphs all show up in the parameters and shaping tabs and work fine. I was excited to explore them and I didn't notice until much later the body and head morphs were missing. It wasn't until the other day when I wanted to make the legs longer I could not find slider for it and then noticed none of the body morphs and head morphs where there. I checked again to see if the power loader was appearing when selecting the Genesis 8 Female and it does not. I don't recall it opening when the muscle morphs were installed.

I could not find any usefull info on this. I tried using the installer to see if they were installed. It confirms they are installed as well as visual check in the folder location which they are. They still are not appearing in the parameters or shaping tabs. I can only find them in the left hand panel under products G. Nothin happens when I left click them. Right click menu shows uninstall. I did try uninstalling using the install manager and reinstalling, but that didn't work.

I have noticed that sometimes slider seem to vanish and appear again. I don't know why. I then realized I still had a search word, but that wasn't always the case. Sometimes it seemed like some sliders would just vanish. I don't know if I was doing something wrong but I know I have to have Genesis 8 female selected.

Can someone please help to get the body and head morphs to appear.

  • Power Loader is an organiser for the ExP system used by the fourth generation Daz figures, the later Genesis series don't need it as they are built to be extensible without workarounds like ExP. Most shaping morphs will appear in the Parameters pane, with the figure node (rather than a bone) selected, under Actor (and should also appear in th Shaping pane) - I think some of the muscle morphs (the flexions) appear in Pose Controls so it's worth checking that you are looking in the right place.

  • The organization is very bad with things all over the place making it difficult to find anything. I've checked everywhere though. I have the main figure selected in the node pain. The only morphs listed in the parameters and shaping tabs are the muscle morphs.  With "All" selected and entering a search word for leg or length shows no results for leg length. They are just not there. I'm sure I looked everywhere and I cannot find them.

  • Please post screen shots of te parametrs pane, and of the location of the files you checked showing the actual path to them.

  • Ok that good to know.

I searched everywhere. I have the figure selected in the node pain and searched every tab including using a search word. The only morphs that are listed and show in the parameters and shaping tabs are the muscle morphs. The head and body are simply not there. I tried uninstalling the muscle morphs from inside Daz studio to start over. It showed the uninstall process, but they are still listed in the products pain. I tried uninstalled from the installer with Daz studio closed, which showed the uninstall yet they are still there. I thought if I could uninstall them all and start with the body and head morphs I could confirm they were there, but I can't even do that now.

    Why won't they uninstall?

  • screen shots on the way

  • This is for the legs https://prnt.sc/qmfnql and https://prnt.sc/qmfsw3 Its the same for the rest of the body and head morphs.

The muscle morphs are not appearing in the installer since uninstalling and show ready to install, yet are still in Daz Studio

  • The /Public Documents/My Daz 3d Library/ folder is still set as a Daz Studio format content directory?

  • I assume so, I don't know where that setting would be to change it and I haven't changed anything since I'm still learning my way around.

  • Edit>Preferences, go to the Content tab, and click the Content Directory Manager. Look at the list of Daz Studio Format content directories in the current set. I would expect it's there as that is one of the two default locations.

  • /Public Documents/My Daz 3d Library/  appears under both Daz Studio format and Poser format

  • OK, so that is correct. I have no idea why the morphs would not be appearing. As a last resort you could go to Edit>Prefrences and in the first tab Clear the DSON cache.

  • Clearing the DSON cache didn't work.

I searched for the files and found the body morphs here: C:\Users\user name\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Daz Connect Library\data\cloud\1_42073\data\daz 3d\genesis 8\female\morphs\daz 3d\body

    I found the Head morphs here: C:\Users\user name\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Daz Connect Library\data\cloud\1_42075\data\daz 3d\genesis 8\female\morphs\daz 3d\head.

One other Character morph which appears and works is here: C:\Users\user name\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Daz Connect Library\data\cloud\1_47095\data\daz 3d\genesis 8\female\morphs\dark elf\binah

The muscle morphs which appear are there too: C:\Users\user name\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Daz Connect Library\data\cloud\1_54469\data\daz 3d\genesis 8\female\morphs\xenic101\musculature

They are all in the same folder C:\Users\user name\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Daz Connect Library\data\cloud

Since they are all in the same main folder I don't see why they are not appearing.

  • Another bit of info. When right click on them from the left pane content library there is the option to show in smart content, it gives a message "The chosen product could not be found with the current filtering options". The message when I tried previous was to uncheck filter by context. The search field is blank and this same message goes for Files and Products tabs.

  • The fiel locations means that the content was installed through Connect, that is using one of the install options inside Daz Studio. If you meant to install via DIM and not Connect then that may indicate some kind of issue with the Content Management System. Try making sure DS itself is off line (the Connect menu should have a command to log in, with Work offline greyed out, rather than vice versa) then install soemthing that isn't currently installed through DIM and try to find it in a Products list - is its icon greyed out? If you doble-click does DS want to connect to download?

  • Offline the item was not grayed out and DIM installed without asking to connect.

When I originally installed the body, head and HD Muscle morphs, I used the install button on the Daz studio website. This opened the DIM where I selected all three and clicked queue and the items showed installed and appeared in the installed tab.  I have not tried to install anything from within Daz Studio. I have always used the DIM. When I previously mentioned "installer" I referred to the DIM. Only after finding the morphs were missing I then tried to uninstall from the within Daz Studio Products where nothing seemed to happen. I have not purchased or installed anything else other than those three morphs and all the was included with Daz and a couple of free items. Only the Genesis 8 body and head morphs do not appear. I Thought I should check the Genesis 8 Male and it has the same issue.

Now while offline, I did tried to unstall within Daz Studio, which did indicate they were uninstalled and then the install icon appeared. I used it to install again and it indicated it was installing, showing the yellow % process bar. The morphs are still not appearing.

Should I open a support ticket?

  • Yes, I am not at all sure what is going on here.

  • Thanks, I opened a support ticket

  • I thought I would post an update.

I finally got the body morphs to show on my own since I had no responce to my ticket.

I tried everything short of finding and deleting the body morph files. In the end that is what it took, I delete all the Genesis 8 Female Body Morph "body" folders I could find. I deleted the body morph from the products list and I uninstalled with DIM and within DS. I then reinstalled from DIM. The morphs appeared once again in the products list where I clicked to install. I was VERY happy to find them listed now. However they still do not show under any of the body parts Editor list like the Musculature does, but do show in the slider window.

Hope this helps anyone else with this issue. I didn't find any real useful info during my search to resolve this.

Now I can really play with shaping and see what I come up with!

  • Unbelievable!!! I saved my scene with new shapes last session where the body shape sliders were there and working. I opened Daz this evening and opened my file only to find all the shaping I did was gone and so are the body sliders.

I'm back where I started...I hope Daz support replies soon.

It sounds like you are installing with both DIM and Connect.  Pick one, I prefer DIM as there are some things that cannot be installed with Connect.

  • I have no idea what connect is or where to find it. I am only using DIM as far as I know. The original download was using the button on the website for the product. That opened the DIM.

However all these files I downloaded and installed via the website buttons are all in C:\Users\username\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Daz Connect Library\data\cloud in separate folder with numerical names.

The body morphs are in folder 1_42073. It's the only one not working. All the other morphs and starter files are in the cloud folder and all I tried so far work.

I am at the point of uninstalling everything and starting over installing with the DIM only since it appears that using the website install button is using Connect?

Still no reply on my ticket from Daz, This is the forth day. Is this long time frame common?

The install button on the website will use DIM, but possibly DS is not seeing those (database issue perhaps, or path issue if DIM and DS are using different folders for content) and so is installing them through Connect when you open the product.

Currently support is very busy. I have tickets reproting minor content bugs that have been sitting there for over a week, though I imagien they would be lower priority than your issues.

  •  I did try loading Genesis 8 Female from the Daz Connect list, but all the body morphs are not there as well since they vanished. I didn't use Connect list previous to that.

By My Daz Connect  folder where everything is installed it appears it is using connect, but I can't find a setting to change that.

Also I found it very strange that deleting and reinstalling the body morphs worked only while I had that session open and after reopening Daz later they were all gone again, including from my saved scene file.

I think I should uninstall all my content and delete the folders on my drive and start the download fresh one item at a time using only DIM.

I also want to change the directory for my content. My OS drive is not that big and it appears content and renders will add up and take some space.

  • In trying to figure out why the Genesis 8 Female Body Morphs are not appearing, I found that under products, G8F Body Morphs right click > edit metadata shows no files listed. See Screen shot: https://prnt.sc/qqiev6   Some how Daz Studio is not seeing the Body Morph FIles, where as the head morphs edit metadata shows a list of all the morphs for the head. Both Head and Body Morph files appear in the same locations.

Is there a way to fix this?

  • I still have not heard a thing on my ticket filed Jan 13th.

I have tried to uninstall from within Daz Studio and the DIM. I delete it in the DIM and deleted all the Body Morph files I could find on my PC. I opened DIM online and redownloaded the GF8 Body Morphs again. The option was download only, but it also installed them. They STILL not appearing.

I feel like I wasted a lot of time and money on DS not getting anywhere.

If anyone else is using this: https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-8-female-body-morphs and has this issue and found a way to fix it, I would greatly appreciate it.

You seem to install with the Install Manager. I would say try to do it step by step on your own. Go to the Shop, then on your account icon, there on Orders, click on the View Order Link and there use Manual Download. In the new window choose the item you want to download from your order by using the Manual link of the product. You get a zip file. Unzip it, open the folder of the product, manage into the content folder, copy there everything (data, People, Runtime and so on) into the main DAZ 3D folder of yours: DAZ_Content\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library\
My Library is the folder you want to put your things into.

In Daz3D just go on Edit->Preferences then on Content and there Content Directory Manager and find out where your real DAZ Studio Formats links to. There you will see the path to the My Library directory where you have to put the files.

  • Yes am using the DIM since it seems to be the recommended and simplest way.

I tried the manual install as mentioned, but I'm not sure if I did it right. In Daz Studio the morph folder has 7 sub folders to the actual morph files. In DS they appear under My Library and the icons next to it. There is no install option there. They still do not appear under the parameters or shaping sections. I tried shortening the file structure to My Library/Shapes/G8F/body where I put the body folder from the manual dowload and the the result is as above.

I don't understand the file structure Daz, its just huge unorganized mess with the same files in other locations. I don't know how its supposed to see the morph files. There are no error messages.

Also the meta data editor appears different then it did in my screen shot for this manual install, however the files are listed, but the sliders just do not appear. I don't see how the head morphs and everything else installed work fine from the same file location and this doesn't.

It seems something is broken or missing with this morph set.

At this point I'm ready to uninstall and delete everything. Daz support is seriously lacking and no one else seems to have this issue.

The actual morph files (the .dsf files) should not show in any content pane if they are installed correctly to properly configured content directories.

Literally the same files in different places would either be DIM and Connect installs or possibly relics of previous isntall attempts.

When loading a native model DS will get a pointer to the folder with the base description (/data/publisher/product/item/figure.dsf) and will scan through the sub-folders of that, in all mapped content directories, looking for additional elements - morphs, UV sets, templates etc. - in their own specific sub-folders.

  • Update:

I tried adding the G8F from the Daz Connect section and to my surprise the morphs are now showing. I also added the G8F from My Daz3d Library again and this time the morph sliders appear there too. This is so confusing. The don't work then they work. I opened and closed DS a few times after checking the morphs were there because last time I tried reinstalling they were there and were gone then next time I opened DS. I still don't understand why these morphs won't work installed in the locations everything else is.

I really want to remove/delete all the files from Daz Connect to avoid further confusion.

I think at this point I will uninstall and delete all content and start over directing the content to another drive with plenty of space. I don't expect them to work again after starting over, but I guess we'll see. At least I know this manual install "can" work.

Richard: I expect that DIM should be installing them correctly, however there is something wrong since the previous installs with DIM showed no files in the meta data editor where the rest of the other morphs did, as I mentioned. This was the only difference I could find from this and the other morphs which are/were installed in the same multiple locations. Right click on the morph under Products did show the install locations and the files were there so they should have worked.

It's possible that the PostgreSQL database was not running when the files were isntalled - if you close DS and open DIM (or vice versa, or even close one and reopen it) it is possible to the PostgreSQL processes to be shutting down still and as a result they don't get restarted, which would stop DIM from adding the metadata.
