How is developing going? :D
Looking forward to this also
Thank you. Everything is going well, I am working on several projects. I hope to have news soon.
Not quite the same thing, but I use the usually hidden G3 clone morphs to turn G8F into a man or G8M into a woman, since Genesis 8 and Genesis 3 are virtually the same shapes, just with different default poses. Unhide the desired morph, dial it up, use the automatic re-rigging capability of DS (or Poser Pro 11 in my case), and you're essentially good to go! It might take a bit of custom morphing around the pecs/breasts and/or throat, but you might be surprised at how little such tweaking is necessary.
Both of these characters are based on G8F, and although the body morphs are different, the face morph is the same for both: Juanita from EJ's Ethnic Beauties pack. It also helps if you have adaptable textures, as I do. The skin is exactly the same, but the eyebrows and any other facial or body hair is layered on with trans maps. That allows me to apply thicker eyebrows, a facial stubble, and armpit hair to the male version without having to swap out the whole texture set. It's not visible here for obvious reasons, but the male also has more pubic hair than the female.
I've been a fan and advocate of transgender morphing as far back as the heyday of Victoria 4 and Michael 4, when it took an add-on or two and some tinkering of my own to make it work, at least the way I wanted it to. I was thrilled when Daz finally implemented the both-genders-in-one-base idea as an already built-in feature of Genesis 1, only to be confused and frustrated when they subsequently abandoned it starting with Genesis 2! Apparently the decision had something to do with the difficulty or inconvenience of developing clothing items for an androgynous base even if they're really only meant for one gender. Maybe if I were a clothing developer, I'd understand better, but from my perspective, it just looks like Daz had an overdue epiphany followed by a rather sudden relapse. It's been enough time that maybe the technology's improved enough that it might be worth trying again. At the very least, maybe offer all three (dedicated male base, dedicated female base, and androgynous base) with Genesis 9?
Anyway, thanks for this reminder that I'm not the only one who sees how convenient and perhaps even powerful transgender morphing is!
If you are still taking suggestions, I would like something that not only transfers a morph, but ensures that certain add-ons (like Sakura 8's eyes) work in the figure of the opposite gender. If the tool could also transfer geographs, that would be amazing.
@CGI3DM What features do you think your product will have? :D
I ask just to not have too high expectations in case it'll just transfer morphs one by one or stuff like that!
Looking forward to it!
It is currently under development, and the idea is to make it the most useful for users. That you can transfer several morphs at the same time.
And all suggestions are still welcome.
The more feedback there is, the better the product will be.
Thanks
Great to know. In my case, the main reason I would like such a tool is to have both genders of creatures only done in one gender, like finally having a male equivalent of Sakura 8 or almost any of Rawart's characters. Just being able to transfer the morphs would already be awesome, but having the chance to use the geographs that are so often essential to monstrous characters would really make this beyond useful. Regarding the character UVs, while I have Sloshwerk's product, there are some characters (like many of Joequick's creations) that have their own UVs which obviously only work on the figure they were made for, so maybe including a small script that automated the map transfer utility to generate a material preset with the chosen UV and the old material's settings would really help with transferring those characters from one gender to another. It would also be indispensable to anyone using various geographs which only work on the native figure's UVs.
Of course, I don't know how hard that would be to implement, so just take it as a very hopeful suggestion rather than a must-have feature. It may even be worth it as its own product.
I would be interested in a tool that let me realize slow gradual transformations between two exact characters I've created with a single slider.
If I had to transfer 40 G8F morphs on a G8M, and remember which of the current G8M morphs originated from the G8F, and change them slightly for every single step, I don't know if it would be easier and faster than my current workflow.
I'd be interested in a tool like that, as there are some Rawart characters that are G8M specific, but I really need a G8F version of the same character.
Hope this is still in development, even with the transgender morphs from today!
the transgender morphs from today are for a completly different purpose![wink wink](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/wink_smile.png)
I love Transgender Shapes, but they don't fill exactly the same purpose as this. I'd use that product to create more realistic trans characters, where my main use for general cross-gender products is to expand the kinds of fantastical characters I can kitbash.
...yeah been relegated to kitbashing as I am still using G3. G8 has been getting more unique characters and morphs than were available to G3. I also ncitce that some G3F hair content often loses some of or all it's morphs when applying them to G3M. For example I fitted Sorrow Hair to one of my trans characters based off of G3M (a good emo/goth style hair) but the morphs didn't work as well and the bones in the hair were not present at all.
Parenting hair to the head seems to work well when going across generations, that keeps all of it's bones and morphs.
...that is what I usually do between generations. However, I would think that within the same generation (G3) it should work on either gender. apparently that is not the case (Sorrow Hair is for G3F and the character was G3M)
I also notice that the G3 F/M UV transfer doesn't always work with every character skin. Really wish there was a Skin Builder utility for male characters. .
For reasons other than the fact that G3 was just lousy with custom UVs?
Apart from beards or anatomical elements, Skin Builder plus UV Swap really does work for male characters pretty well. I've used it that way in every generation where it's appeared. And it's possible to handle both beards and anatomical elements in other ways.
I also eagerly await this product! In fact it can't come soon enough for me, since the scifi project I'm currently working on requires me to make opposite gender versions of alien characters which were only released for one gender base. As has been mentioned before, the ability to transfer associated geografts would also be rather critical for me, since the characters I'm hoping to expand into a more-than-one-sex-species all have geografts which are highly distinctive and defining for their appearance. Currently I'm trying to make do by using transgender morphs and/or transfering the texture over and parenting the geografts to the "wrong" base without autofit, to maintain the bones and other needed features in the graft, but this still leaves a lot to be wanting. I'd also use a product like this to transfer morph kits that were only released for one gender to expand my shaping options equally to both genders; usually that'd mean F->M morph transfer, so a script or optional additional morph adjusting for the different nipple placement would be most helpful too.
Thanks for the comments, help to improve the next product.
I'm in the same hoverboat as Jeylien: I look at various space-alien characters for sale and notice there's only the female version or only the male version made of a given alien race, but I want to have an entire family of them. Husband and wife alien, and their school-age son and daughter aliens, or maybe just one of the kids.
I look forward to seeing this product come out.
Really hope this product is done, will be very usefull on many ways, I like to create diferent species for my genesis models, with this product i will can do it for one gender and easy transfer it to the other one
looking forward for this product
Is still on plans for it?
don't expect it this year![cheeky cheeky](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/tongue_smile.png)
I just saw this thread, and I am also very excited to see this, unless it's already done and I just didn't know. >_>
Just chiming in with the, "Very interested in this product" crowd.
Bulwarg desperately needs a girlfriend... will it be able to do that?
OMG PLEASE GIB IT TO US NOW VERY PLEASE.
How's going btw?
i'm interested too
there are ways to turn G8F into a male? with all the male elements?
Count me in: will get it as soon as it's released![yes yes](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/thumbs_up.png)
i would love a brother for Ktarya.
