On the materials, editor tab, DS indicates the shader being used. Below is an example.
Perhaps someone else who has purchased it, would be kind enough to provide an answer.
... And we can still grow the hair on him. How cool is that...
That is, how it looks like in surfaces tab.
At least face is using PBRSkin.
https://www.daz3d.com/ultimate-textures-for-toon-axolotl some extra textures for the axo, i hope it will be handy, it was superfun to make them!
I can only imagine. I have also bought them, as well - could not resist the temptation.
Toon Dad - https://www.daz3d.com/toon-dad-and-fatherly-beard-and-accessories-for-genesis-8-male - does not seem to be tall enough...
JoeQuick, What is the snail from? I can't seem to find that. Thank you!
@gitika1 In the Surfaces pane - Editor tab for Toon Axo it says, "Shader: DAZ Studio Default" both for the base character and with a Material applied from the expansion set... hope that helps!
@JoeQuick thank you for creating today's most unique character... Toon Axo is such a cute and fun looking character!
@Sade along with @3D-GHDesign @DisparateDreamer @Moonscape-Graphics - Thank you all for providing the expansion set of materials and textures... love the colors and emissives!
Thank you, robertswww, for your helpfulness. It seems that they are 3DL not Iray Uber or PBR.
I do not know, how robertswww got the other shader, than PBRSkin.
The only explanation to me is that he uses the older version of Daz Studio, that does not support PBRSkin shader.
I have already checked, that the face is using PBRSkin. Toon Axolotl uses mixed materials, so that's the confusion.
The other parts with PBRSkin shader are:
Torso, Legs, Arms, Ears, EyeSocket, Lips, Mouth, Toenails, Fingernails
The parts with Iray Uber shader are:
Cornea, EyeMoisture, Irises, Pupils, Sclera, Teeth
The Torso also uses PBRSkin shader - I have marked the important parts with RED arrows on the screenshot.
Am I not adorable enough???
Yes, I still use Daz Studio 4.12 Pro so I guess that is why my Shader showed up differently than yours, although they still render great in iRay! Eventually when I upgrade my computer and GPU, then I'll update Daz Studio to the latest version with the PBR shaders. Thanks for providing the detailed breakdown on the Toon Axo shaders with the latest version of DS.
EDIT:
One thing that I forgot to menion was that when I loaded the Axo figure and textures, Daz Studio 4.12 Pro did prompt me twice with a pop-up to install the new version of Default Resources. But, those are for Daz Studio 4.15, so I just pressed the SKIP button each time and Axo appeared to load fine.
I can't render him as anything but white in Iray. I use 4.11
I wish it said it used the new shaders.
This might have already been addressed and I just havent seen it but can you just add the Iray shader keeping the textures in place? I know this maybe more than people want to do cause you might have to tweak some of the settings but if you really like the character then might be worth it. Then you can save the preset and not have to do it again.
The body seems okay with this method, but the geografts don't work well I'm afraid. I will still keep him, he is cute. I just can't move to the new version of studio until I can get a new card, which right now, seems about NEVER at the prices they are charging.
I just wish PBR shaders are listed in the product description. Then I might not buy it.
You can always return it. I think Daz 3D has still this 30 days return policy, isn't it.
Sorry, you still like him - I have typed too fast.
Did anyone purchase Ultimate Textures for Toon Axolotl and is willing to check to see if those are Iray Uber. The product details state, Daz Studio Iray Presets, but I wonder if that is accurate. It might make a viable alternative.
The highlighted part is interesting, I wonder if new versions of the Default Resources is what presents the different between you being able to render as loaded and others having the all white character. Unfortunately, I believe I installed the Default Resources awhile back.
Do Axo really jump?
The materials with the expansion - https://www.daz3d.com/ultimate-textures-for-toon-axolotl - using exactly the same PBRSkin shader
if using in Daz Studio Pro 4.15. I have marked all such materials on the screenshot.
I just posted this over under an UltraScenery Thread, but they are relevant here too. Loving this new character!
@Gogger Those are very realistic looking renders... excellent work!
Here's my latest render with Axo...
Adorable!
Add me to the list wondering about that snail mount. My Toon Axo is missing his ride.
I ran some more tests of Toon Axo in Daz Studio 4.12 Pro. Apparently, the base figure only renders in white... @Serene Night is this the same as you saw?
If so, there is hope... The Ultimate Textures for Toon Axolotl kind of work... What I mean is that the included 14 base H.Materials all seem to render correctly in iRay. But, the Layered materials do not render correctly. For example... Axo Spots2 Black Axo looks Yellow with Black Spots in the thumbnail, but renders out as all black:
Still, I am happy that I can use the 14 textures for now, and eventually when I upgrade my system, and update to the latest Daz Studio, then I can use the Layered materials. So anyone else running an older version of Daz Studio that wants more than a white Axo, should consider the ultimate textures set.
I'm just loving the little guy:
