Ethereal Goddess Hair for Genesis 8 Female

It comes out to under 3 dollars if you bought a new release so it's a great deal but the promo images aren't really helping. I was wondering if anyone picked up this hair and if they could kindly post a render where the hair doesn't look like it was textured for Poser 4.

Thanks!

Oh, wow...that hair does look like it could be nice, but yeah...those promos are not good. As it stands, it looks more like G1 or G2 hair...like it's more cartoony. I'd need to see some better images, and perhaps with alternate shaders, such as Colorwerks or Backlight.

Working on a few renders right now.  It doesn't look to promising and it doesnt have a skull cap.

So here's what the bones look like.  The pose controls are under Parameters, and not under "Actor" like you'd expect them, but under "Correctives".

And here are a couple of quickie renders.  First with the red that comes with the package, and then with one of Chevybabe25's Backlight shaders

I'd be upset if I'd paid more than the like two bucks for it.  There's no way to fix the scalp that I could find.

Wow, I am so happy I saw this. I thought I'll pick the hair up but now I am not so sure.

I wanted to buy it more to activate the 2.50 offer for the G3 items and get two of those + this hair and use the 6$ PC coupon to get them all for 1.77$.

But with the hair looking like that I don't think I'll ever use it so I might be better off just saving my coupon for the next days.

Thanks Sevrin!  I was going to say there are not many morphs mainly for adjusting the shoulder/collar and that is all.  I don't know if I am going to keep or not it would be ok for maybe a background hair or something more toonish maybe.

I tired to stay in the blonde area but guess I clicked a strawberry blonde for the colorwerks, oops.  The Backlight one I turned the backlight utility off, only difference was that on made it darker.

That's...pretty...heinous. Um no. Like how did that even get released looking like that?

I do not know.  I mean it was $2.77 but still full price is $21.95.........

I looked at it, and after that mess with Dain 8, I went and looked at the file list. I wasn't impressed with what I saw compared to what the regular PAs put into their hairs. So I bypassed it. And I am glad I did after seeing what two people who are great at getting the best out of an item managed to wring from it. Thanks for taking the time and posting.

Yeah, I'm glad I passed on this. Thank you for the renders.

These deals have been kind of uneven.  Let's hope this will be the low point!

When I saw this earlier today I didn't think it looks great and I was surprised to see it was a Daz Original... but what REALLY struck me was how meagre the product description is. It's a shame because it looks like a good base style... maybe someone was working on it before they had to move to home working due to the pandemic, and then they had the projected release date for today as part of MM so it just had to go ahead even though wasn't 100% finished? I don't know. Just a thought because, like @melissastjames has said, it's really not at the usual Daz standard

I can't beleive there's no skull cap included because that bald spot at the top is attrocious.

Thank you for the renders, I defnintely will not be buying this hair.

Sometimes I combine two hair styles together. Maybe this can be used to add fullness to another hair. It's too bad because it could be a nice style.

That's what I was hoping, but life is too short.

Just wanted to say a huge thank you for this thread. I buy A LOT from Daz, but every so often I wonder about the QA and have to return stuff. You helped me avoid that tonight. So thanks :)

See now this is a challenge, I may get it to see what it's like myself. The lighting in these samples have been pretty horrendeous to start with so maybe some decent light may make the difference. I mean the base DAZ Studio lighting is pretty bad to get a real sample from, I don't even have that as a default when i load the program.

  • Just another case of a product being hurried to the sale shelf. Maybe a hair style for zombies or other similar corporeal undead?

I don't think it's that.  I think it's more like a product that's either originally intended for some other use or just an experiment.  There's too much that's really strange about it.

Its a shame, because overall I have been impressed with the quality of most of the Bonus Madness products so far, which is pretty good when you consider DAZ is selling them for just a couple of dollars or so. For this hair I was unimpressed with the main promos, and this thread has not changed my mind on its usefulness.

Considering we also got this: https://www.daz3d.com/jingling-character-and-hair-for-genesis-8-females as a bonus madness item, which is not just a much better hair IMHO, but there is a character as well, so a shame this latest product is a bit of a miss. Maybe it will appeal to people that do a lot of toon renders.

How did this even get into the store? The promos are terrible. The description is lacking. The details offer no information, no morphs are listed at all. And apparently it has very few morphs. Each of these things on its own should be enough to get a product rejected, yet this product manages to have all of these issues and still gets into the store? I'm sorry, but corona is no excuse.

Its a shame because the basic shape of the hair is something I'd like to have. A more simple medium length hair that is not over styled and over the top, that sounds good. But this will not cut it. I can't believe this is a Daz Original. Since Daz owns this, then they should have the ability to pull this item, get it in order and then put it back into the store as a PC+ item, not a full price item. Otherwise, who is going to actually buy this? How do they think this is acceptable? These are serious questions.

Honestly that part line is like a walking Bosley commercial. Like how could anybody even think that is acceptable? Even in the best lighting, you couldn't fix that.

I got some Better look with adding Ella Hair under it and moving the Head bone up 1.5

That's still unacceptable to me...even with the added hair underneath, the hair itself looks like toon hair...like G1 or G2 hair. It wouldn't be able ot stand up next to a more photoreal model.

Toon hair indeed. Because I've seen plenty of G1 and G2 hair that with good shaders look really good.

I wouldn't use this hair in my scenes even if I had gotten it for free. Too much work to make it look not horrible, when there are plenty of hairs that look good and don't cost that much anyways.

I really wish Daz would have something like a sub-par released products list that will get a fix. Like most of the Dain8 clothing (I still haven't even installed anything except the bodyguard suit which I don't use anyways), this hair and some other recent very low quality releases.

And to use that product name for that hair. Ethereal Goddess? Having a mundane godless bad hair day ...

Thanks for the heads up on this one.  I was going to try to put a cart together using this one, but after reading about how disappointing the product was I moved the rest of my cart to the wishlist a couple of hours ago, and called it a day.

    Them's the breaks!

I really liked the IDEA of this hair, but YIKES! I tried to use it and even after every trick I know couldn't make it work. The weirdness in all aspects makes me wonder if this wasn't  a slip from a game line, or some other thing all together. Even DAZ's worst is never this bad. I wonder what the story behind this is?

Maybe this is a head up for new PAs not to worry too much about QA if they submit a new item if this can be accepted?

I don't buy a lot of hair because I create my own but I wouldn't even download this if it were free. The only chance I'd pay for it would be if it came with a giant offer, like purchase this hair and get 40% off your next gift card or something.

There's something odd about the whole thing - poor quality, small promo pics like those 10 years ago, no vendor name other than DAZ which is unusual (the install path reveals a vendor with the acronym LS - who's that?).
