What happened to Dystopia City Blocks?

UkyuuUkyuu Posts: 182

To my utmost confusion, after looking into the shop, I can't seem to find the Dystopia City Blocks. I was looking which PA was doing them because I'm writing the credits of my pictures and suddenly OoO where did they disapear to?

Anyone has an idea about what happened, and if you know what happened, would you know what should be wrote in the credit ? (PA name/link to wherever he is now?) please?

I found this readme, this at least has the artists: http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/read_me/index/4706/start

The PA store was closed some time ago.

Here's the readme file for one of the blocks with the PA names: http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/artzone/azproduct/4709

It's sad to see that it has closed. Its low-res products were really excellent for large-scale renders of sci-fi cities, there's a feel to the dystopia that I haven't found in the rest;.. thanks for the links you two. It's sad I can't link to the products in the credits of the Visual Novel I'm doing but that's how life goes I guess.

But I guess it also means that there no more way to obtain an authorisation/purchase the interactive licence to use the 3D product itself anymore for when I will do a 3D action/adventure version of the Visual Novel, right?

@ati your browser extension is awesome! I'm using it and I'm really happy about it.

It's not available in the store anymore, so I'm afraid no, there's no way to purchase an interactive license for it.

Arf... which means I might have to review my entire planning. If I can't have the interactive licence anymore then the 3D game will be impossible too :/

You can always try to contact Daz via a support ticket and ask them if there's a way to contact the vendors and negociate that with them, but there's no guarantee at all.

  • It is worth trying what Leana suggested. I did that once years ago to contact a vendor about getting their permission to do a cross stitch of one of their images on Renderosity after they ceased to be a member at Renderosity. That, to my surprise, did actually work.

    Regards,

    Richard

I will do that, not sure if non PA people can open tickets, but it's worth trying to see how you open tickets, there's surely a place for doing that as I've seen a lot of people speak of tickets.

If there's an answer before the production begins it's totally worth it indeed!

Thanks both of you for the answers!

I'm still in the "render settings phase," to make the images. Since rendering is somewhat a pain, so there's time before I go to production, hopefully by the time the shader I'm trying to finish, the render settings, and the way to add higher details to these buildings he made are all settle I'm going to have an answer to the ticket !

It's nice of you two to have answered me all that, and pointed me out in the right direction!

Here I was about to jump of joy, thinking maybe it would be a great lead.

Read that, and almost sprained my ankle since I was, you know spinning in my jump...

Got a heart attack, which is no good in a confinement period!

    Still thank you for answering!

As a DAZ Original if you have their old Gamer Developer license for DAZ Originals you can use it but otherwise there is no way to buy an interactive license without inquiring directly with the DAZ 3D sales staff.

Would like to point out that both Stonemason and inception have a number of City Blocks that are quite like that too in case you can't contact the other guys.

It wasn't a Daz Original, though. Not according to the readme that is still online, anyway.

I actually do have this. I thought it was obsolette and completely gone with the new system through.

Also, if I remember well, this would only apply for DAZ Originals, unfortunately, I have no way to verify if these were actually DAZ Original, since every information vanished when the store was closed.

It may only be me, but Greeble City Block is bleak, and feels more industrial, so far during the concepts tryouts, nobody identified the Greeble as city things, but more as industrial complex of some sort. I will indeed try the density blocks, but I am afraid that it may encounter the same problem. The starport and the Vista Destination, as well as command center, are all also gone & missing, I think that around 80% of the assets I was using were from Moebius' shop, which leaves me in a bind. I'm afraid that the cost of buying all the necessary assets again would be a big hindrance in many other areas for the project.

Stonemasons product are excellent, I've got a lot of them, and I'm struggling to learn the skills to make things come to life properly. Also, I'm thinking it might be more difficult to add some details such as actual streets with my current skills, I'm looking into a lot of stuff regarding this project. I'm not doing it as a commercial thing, it's just I want to make something that's great and other people can enjoy, hence why I'm desperately perserverating in the matters (that takes me years / months such as the shader or just addding more polygons to low-rest thingy so I can add doors, or whatever).

All those clues you are giving me, I'm seriously studying them properly!

We were told that even though they are no longer available for purchase, they are still valid even for new Daz Original items.

Yeah, I guess that all I can do is wait for the ticket thingy and pray it is soon released. Or find a way to make Greeble city look more like a city. I'm trying to make a scifi looking house with something I purchased age agos, which is the room creator. It's kind of a nightmare to use, as I don't understand this kit well, but at least it's still around... With some chance the ticket will come about before I begin to make the visual assets of the game.

if you are making a game honestly there are better procedural in game solutions

  • UkyuuUkyuu Posts: 182

I'm using Game Maker Studio (which I already brought years ago since I make some tools for writing with it), hence why I'm simply stuck with creating the visuals as there is no procedurals for this one.

I just looked that up, and it's mainly for 2D graphics. Are you sure you really need an interactive license? If you render a background out, and it's just a static image there, then you don't need the extra license, as far as I'm aware.

  • UkyuuUkyuu Posts: 182

At first for the 2D visual novel game, then no, I won't need the licence. However, when I'm going to make it more complex, and use 2.5D with 3D characters, then I'll need it, yes.

I love those sets too. smiley

Did you come up with a format for the credits?

    I was thinking something like

CG Artists:  or Scene Inventory Assets: ?
    Alphabase  by Kibarreto
Genesis 8 Starter Essentials  by Daz Originals

I have the promo's from two of the sets, SKU 4706 001-010 and SKU 4709 011-020 for Poser. There were 6 and 5 forum references respectively. Looks like I bought them on 16 April 2018.

There was no indication of a game license on the .pdfs at that time.

There's also Greeble City Blocks 2 and 3 (link to bundle here but also available separately: https://www.daz3d.com/greeble-city-blocks-bundle )

They might feel a little less industrial (YMMV and so forth)

What about from the creator directly? Or is it owned by Daz?

The creators are no longer partners and are no longer selling products.

It was. It was a PC+ freebie at one point so it had to be a DAZ Originals (although the book keeping isn't always the best (as we saw again recently with the military tunnel that is now a DO freebie for a while), that's the only reason I have it.
