I did not know that about the 30 day money back guarantee.
That said, his white paper doesn't really tell me very much about how well I would be able to achieve the results I might want out of the software, and it's on his own site, so not necessarily something I'm going to trust especially with how vague the info is presented. I really don't get how suggesting someone make marketing materials that actually give you a good idea as an end user of how they work and don't look like they were made on a windows 98 pc is such a big ask. In literally every other software I've ever used in my life, even those independently made, they typically can link you to detailed documentation. Instead I'm just met with a lousy blog post that doesn't address even half of my concerns. Like I said, this wouldn't feel as big of a deal if it weren't for the price point (regardless of refundability).
I'm also glad he linked to his website though, because I learned in the about section he also makes software that helps law enforcement capture facial data, so I've passed the point I'd be able to trust this developer or want to support his other work.
Emo, a little closer reading would be helpful. There is a 40 page detailed manual, a 8:15 minute how-to video on YouTube and 10 pop-up "Teach" panels all linked in the software and the promo page. Fortunately those users who know us and use our software know all this. In regard to Face2Face, a carefull read would tell you that it is not a face-recognition software but an educational software to prevent drug abuse. Fortunate for us, in the past 14 years since we started to sell our software we had many thousands who trusted us and enjoyed using our software.

I tried out headshop 13 two times. My first effort was a failed Barbara Eden, but the source picture was not great and I wasn’t expecting it to work.
This is my second effort using an image off the internet (I don’t know the model). I found that in headshop, the model comes out ok/close, especially the eyes. However, when transferred to Daz Studio, the eye shape became more generic. The iris, however, was quite accurate.
One frustration I had is that I could not load any nice eyelashes onto the model. The lashes kept getting applied to the middle of the eyes. I don’t know what the problem might be – it could be user error. I did give up.
Attached, in order, are:
The original model I tried to create using headshop.
The model when in headshop.
The model as transferred to Daz Studio.
The model’s skin edited using Altern8 no maps Charlotte.
The model using Albany Hd materials.
Finally, the model using Albany materials, make up and posed.
Conclusions - I did not achieve a good likeness of the original model (although I have done so in headshop 12). The process is hit and miss, just like all of the other similar tools (face gen, face transfer). Sometimes using several of the tools gets you closer to the original. All that said, using another character’s materials, I think I got a pretty nice new model.
Within the post, I am showing the model rendered (not fully) in Daz Studio, after transfer from Headshop. The second image is the same character/final character but with materials changed.
Nice work. The issue with the eyelashes is with Gen 8 model, that makes eyelashes a separate figure. If you read the HS13 Manual, Chapter 4, page 30, we offer a workaround to this problem.
Thanks @info, I will try that another time. I have not yet read the manual, other than re how to install. I'm sure there are a lot of tricks and tips that I can still learn!
I find it best to first delete G8's eyelashes, then run HeadShop 13. After the morph is returned to D/S, on the Parameters Panel right-click on the morph dial and go into Edit Mode. Then on the dial for the morph [wheel cog] go into the Parameter Settings where one can see the option for auto-following, put a check-mark in that box ;-) Then load a fresh pair of eyelashes and apply to it a mat for the eyelashes. [If a mat doesn't exist, you'll have to make one].
And remember everybody, if you like the morph(s) being made, Save Them! {File > Save as > Support Asset > Morph Assets ...}
You really won't like this Daz Studio all the kids are talking about, then.
i purchased the upgrade without hesitation after the clarification, i understood that it upgraded all headshops but i figured the versions that were split up for the generations could of been considered a "lite version" and not eligible for the upgrade, anyway for the few pics i've tested the morphs look great, i've also found sometimes you can use your purchased textures on your character and still get some good results, i'll try to post some images soon, i still need to figure out the full body texture i haven't had much time to play around with it with work and such so only the face texture transfers but i think with most face transfers dial spinning is required to fine tune the character, i personally think the program is a great update
Thanks, we coudn't agree more
I have purchased HeadShop 13 with LoveChild on 21 June. As yet I am still unable to use it due to the fact that the purchased product does not show up in DIM, and only one of two files are listed in the Manual Download section. Daz Central is a no-go for me after being burned with that abomination last week. From reading the documentation that came as part of the first file, I am missing something called 'Morpher'.
I have had a support ticket open with DAZ for a couple days now, with no replies or any sign of activity. I know they're busy but still a pretty poor show when your customer has spent almost $60 and is unable to make use of the product they purchased!
I'm keen to see what results I can achieve with HeadShop 13, and as soon as I have this situation resolved I might even find out!
(* edited because I managed to mis-spell 'DAZ' of all things! )
1. Please realize that HeadShop is manual install, not DIM (see enclosed). There is also a README in the same folder to guide installation.
2. There is a folder "morpher" inside the zip file (look again).
3. Consider that we in California are 16 hrs behind Japan. A message sent at 12:41 am California time is answered now, 6 hrs later at 6:39 am local time. That is not slow.
Maybe check your account again, John Alexander Hopper. After reading your post, I went and checked My Account and I had two files to download under the manual install. The second one was the Morpher.
One question from me though. Since this was an upgrade (for me), I assume I was suppose to let it install to the same folder as version 12 and then allow the morpher folder to overwright what was already there. Correct?
Thanks.
In this case either way would work. Morpher did not change since HS12..
Thank you for the response. However if you re-read my message you will see that I was saying that DAZ support was being slow, not you. Incidentally, that support ticket is STILL unanswered.
There is NO folder called Morpher inside the zip file. there are 2 files - HS13full.exe and README.pdf (see attached screen capture)
*EDIT: Your screenshot does indeed show 'Manual Install' - however it says right next to that 'DAZ Central' which is the supposed replacement for DIM, so it's rather a moot point.
Just re-checked. Definitely only the one file to download. Still with a name ending '1 of 2'.
If you go back to your ticket and add another reply to it I think that might bring it to their attention again.
Also, of all the products I have, there were one or two for which I had to scroll WAY down on the page to see the downloads. ? maybe.
Nah, just checked the manual downloads page, and I have scrolled as far as I can. Definitely no secondary file! I have taken your advice though and bumped my support ticket! :)
Hope they get that fixed for you sooner rather than later.
Game plan would be to give that a few days [remember they don't work on the weekends] and if still no joy, put in another ticket and ask for your money back because there is no full download available. That may or not get results if the first ticket doesn't.
ETA Tickets for refunds must be made before the 30 days are up {allow for time zone differences}.
Hmm, I purchased the up grade version and got both files.
Yeah, getting pretty sick and tired about being made to wait this long after spending $60! Next step will be a refund, but I'll hold off until Monday and ask for that if no results are forthcoming. Thanks for all the help, too!
Mine was the full product, as I don't own any of the previous versions!
Curious, I wonder if they got files for products mixed up?
That's actually a very good point!
Sent a link to download the "missing" file "morpher" on June 24, 2:36 pm.
@ info_b3470fa520 If, as it would appear, the product links for the purchased products are not correct, then 'everybody' who bought the 'full' product could be so affected, not just 2 or 3 people. This matter would have to be addressed by you with Daz3D however it is PAs do things, to get the correct files to their corresponding products.
Whatever the reason I think it's bad forum etiquette to post private messages on the public forum, especially when they include email addresses.
I have the same issue. how can i get the link?
