...did I mention that I really hate the auto logout?

Found a freebie I had missed in the Freebie Flashback, put it in my cart to discover I had been logged off the store site. Signed in and as usual, I get the "cart is empty" message afterwards yet the freebie shows "purchased".

I've gotten into the habit of always having two DAZ3D tabs open in the browser, one for the forums and one for my account. Before I check on the store for anything, I click on my account and let it prompt me to log in. I don't usually have problems with this method.

I use the Check4Change plugin for Firefox -- I have the New Releases page and the Forum index set to reload every 5 minutes. Store never logs me out, Forum very rarely.

what the heck are the '..CF' files on some of the products?? O.o

... I mean, I understand that the '...Ds' zips are the DAZ and the '...Ps' zips are poser..

oh, and what are the '... legacy' ones I see occasionally? (as long as I am asking) DS3 files? Conversion files?

man, you take a year off and they go and *change* everything!

complaint #n+1 : my shoulder is *hurting* something awesome today!

First the complaint, slide over on the couch I'll join you, I bring a few other hurtie parts with me just for giggles too...

PoserCF files: These are the needed load files to use the Dson content in Poser with the Dson plugin.
StudioCF files: These are DAZ Studio files for a poser type content set. Often the textures that install to the DAZ Studio Formats section.
Legacy Files: These are more often than not DAZ Studio 4.0 format files as it will not read the new DS4.5+ duf format.

Hope that helps.. Now pass the OTC pain killers please.

I got up late (nothing new there). Looks like it might rain any minute. It's dim in here, might need to turn on a light before long.

Yes, but do you purposely log in before going to the store? That's the part that avoids problems, not having two tabs open. That's just for convenience.

It must use a lot of bandwidth, always refreshing the page like that. Some people have limited bandwidth allowances, that would eat it up...especially with all the crap DAZ3D puts on their pages.

I found my old electronic phone book in Windows 3.1 cardfile format. Now I need to manually copy the phone book to a more recent format. Time to look for a personal information manager for 32 bit windows. Yes, I am running Windows 3.1 in the screenshot.

Boy that brings back memories. My very first laptop with my very first version of Windows 3.1 for Workgroups. I actually didn't mind Windows back then, as I set the laptop up for a dual boot, so I could still use my DOS 5 most of the time.

Refreshing (not forced refreshing, just checking to see if any of the elements have changed) a couple of pages shouldn't be an issue - and every five minutes would seem more than needed anyway.

If you have a bandwidth limit, I would use your account page rather than New releases -- that and the forum index don't have a lot of images, so even if you did it 24/7 it would be pretty minimal. Or else don't force refresh, so the images don't download every time. A web page with few images will take a trivial amount compared to streaming music or video or software downloads.

don't forget that DSON = DAZ Scene Object Notation
    http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/dson_spec/start

Thanks for sharing your story Miss B. I might type some more about Windows 3.1 later. I'm in the middle of building another scene in Daz Studio.

edit: forgot to mention that I might move the address book to a database. yay. Then I'll need to select a database and design the tables and fields. Or maybe I can put the address book on the tablet. Or Google contacts. Or something. So many choices.
