complaint: Windows 7's default extraction utility cannot extract Reby Sky Elite Hair (IM00010853-01_RebySkyEliteHair.zip). I need to use a third party zip extraction program to unzip the zip file.

edit: same thing happened to V4 Elite: Reby Sky. Hmm.

Yes, it seems to choke on zero-byte files.

And why would there be a zero byte file? If the pz2 file is empty, then it should not be there at all. What is it, the Emperor's new pose? :-P

Generally they're just so you can put in an icon to separate the different files, e.g. Morphs, Mats, Skin, Eyes

That doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Maybe it's just me. I think if there is a morph, there should be a pose file for that morph, or nothing. It seems maybe a bit of laziness on the part of the creator/artist. It would seem especially confusing to the newbie. "What's this?" click....click, click...double-click...double-click, double-click. "This thing is broken, it doesn't do anything. I'll put in a ticket!" In fact, obviously I find it confusing as well.

Say you want to have instructions for using the product, or a note that the materials are in the Pose library -- you put that info on a png, but you need a Poser or DS format file for it to show up:

That would really be a thing hey, my understanding is reflected light from the moon isn't bright enough to scatter in rain like direct sunlight does :)

It happens, more in a haze than after rain. They don't call it a rainbow, but I've seen a ring around the Moon that was like a rainbow. Not as vibrant, though. But still cool.

would explain the pink floyd cover :)

Nah, that was just pure art.

    Dana

If the moon ever comes from behind the clouds again I'll give a prism a try but my understanding is you need bright light like strong direct sunlight for the necessary refraction to work (?)

Moonbow As I said, they are more faint, but they do happen. Another couple of types of the refraction effects also happen, but are not technically moonbows. Although it says in that article that they are too faint to see colors with the naked eye, I have seen them on occasion. The cones on the retina are less sensitive to color than are the rods, but you can see color at night if there is enough light. The full Moon is so bright it actually casts a shadow. Check it out some time. Long exposures under Moon light, especially the full Moon, can look like they were shot during the daytime!

Are you familiar with the Sunny 16 rule in photography? The same rule applies to photographing the full Moon. It is sunlight reflected off the Moon's surface.

    Dana

Lots of moon shadow in our garden on a full moon sop I'll give the prism a shot next time around :)

complaint: people drive fast on a residential street. what if a kid walks off the sidewalk into the street?? one of the neighbor's pet walked into the street once and almost got run over. plus, the drivers rarely stop at the stop sign; they stop in the middle of the intersection. what the heck?? Now I know why the neighborhood next to mine has speed bumps and a 15 MPH limit.

ok.. need to organize my runtime library.

...have the same thing occurring here. The street I live on parallels a main arterial which is posted at 35mph (where most drivers are doing 40 - 45 and sometimes even 50) by a block. At times someone will go speeding down our narrow street as if they think they are still on the faster busier street. Not only do we have kids and pets, but the street I live on is also one of the main bikeways in the city (it was one of the first). The neighbourhood association was able to get the city to lower the speed to 20mph however they (the city) placed the signs so they are "conveniently" blocked by trees. Hence we still get "speed racers" flying down the street.

OK, so as I mentioned, the street I live on is a major designated bikeway in the city (which is a primary route for cycling to downtown). So naturally, what do I see instead? Cyclists on the sidewalks of the busy main street, often riding fast giving little to no heed to pedestrians, when they could be on the much more "bike friendly" street a short block to the south.

Now if there was only some way I could get the fast drivers to stay on the main thoroughfare and the cyclists in the road on the side street all would be fine.

That's how I became disabled. A women didn't stop at the stop sign and I ended up T-boning her

  • kyoto kidkyoto kid Posts: 41,244

...again, we have that happening here as well. A few years ago someone in one of those massive SUVs ran a stop sign and T-boned anther car. Both the mass and momentum of the SUV actually spun the smaller car 180° around. it was very fortunate for the driver of the smaller car that the impact was on the passenger side (and that no one else was in the car with her).

In my area of town rolling and running stop signs on The side streets is almost to a chronic state, not just for motorists but cyclists, trucks and even transit buses.

Cyclists are still the worst of the lot though feeling they are almost "entitled" because Portland is supposedly one of the most "bike friendly" cities in the nation. I for one do follow the same rules as motorists are supposed to, and you wouldn't believe the odd looks I get from fellow two wheelers sometimes when I do stop, or signal a turn. In my area of town there are a lot of "blind" intersections as many of the streets are rather narrow, there are a lot of trees, and parking is at a premium. I've seen cars actually parked at the corner blocking part of the crosswalk (and often they are big SUVs or vans or jacked up 4x4 pickups). At times I have almost hit another cyclist who ran a stop sign in front of me while I was on my bike with the right of way. Point out their error and often you end up getting the middle finger salute and/or an obscenity laced scolding.

Now granted a bike vs. bike collision may not be deadly, but these careless riders seem to ignore the fact that it could still result in serious injury (particularly to someone older like myself). Furthermore, since cyclists are not insured like motorists have to be, the medical expenses come out of one's own pocket.

The next time they mindlessly pedal through a stop sign it could very well be a big UPS, Fed Ex, Refuse, or City truck and not some 60 year old guy on a bike coming at them (who can stop and/or evade a collision a lot easier)..

Another major issue here is motorists (and cyclists) not yielding for pedestrians at marked crosswalk. The law here is at any marked ("zebra" stripe) crosswalk when a pedestrian is making an attempt to cross, ALL traffic in all lanes travelling in both directions is required to stop. Of course this rarely happens. Once again it is not just cars, but city vehicles, transit buses, and on a couple occasions, even school buses that roll right on through.

There is a little game I play while trying to cross where I count the number of cars (visibly using my fingers) and multiply them by the fine they would receive (if there was ever a policemen around to ticket them). Oft times, just in one attempted crossing I could actually make enough to pay my rent, ISP amd Phone and have money left over to go to the pub for a couple pints and when I come home, get a few things off my Daz wishlist if I could collect the fine myself. A couple times I ran out of fingers and had to start over again, the worst ever being 22 cars which would have bought me a nice fully loaded gaming computer with liquid cooling.

It's taking me most of the week to get this worked out, but that's because I kept changing and adding/deleting things (and I also had the volume settings on the camera set WAY too high  ).

This is a follow up to my last little tidbit image.

Looks like Reld and Sam finally found the mysterious figure spotted some hours before, but they sure don't look happy about that....

n/m kinda day here too :)

While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door.
"'Tis some visitor," I muttered, "tapping at my chamber door -
    Only this, and nothing more."

you mean Idaho? Yeah, the western and southern border is straight but the northeastern border is jagged. I want to visit Boise. Idaho is mostly mountains and forest except for the valley around Boise, I think.

edit: I am trying to read about Idaho so my facts could be wrong.

I like the border between that state and the next one eastward. It looks like a profile of a face...in fact, I used to say that it looked like Richard Nixon's profile....looking westward.

yes - seems to be :) thank you though!

complaint - I *seem* to remember that DS (the newer versions at least) supports having the DS files in the same folders as the Poser files (displays only one icon and loads the correct version)? Is this correct or just another mis-remembering?

I ask since, because of said crappy memory, I go to great lengths to organize my library into something where I can *find* things, and having stuff separated because it is one version or the other tends to make me forget I have something (or, at least, where the heck it actually *IS* - which in some ways is even worse)

I usually just flail about in the Content Library until I find what I'm looking for or give up. :)
If I don't find it, I'll run across it by accident about a week later...and by that time I've completely forgotten why I wanted to find it in the first place. :smirk:
