Hi, dropping back in ... see Richard has been here okay. Was going to say that yeah, those would need to come down. I FOUND the old files for D/S3 :-)
Working on getting the program to read all the files. At the moment I'm not sure if you actually made a morph or made a new figure. But plan to get back with more information after I check one more thing.
Oh yes, the blanks I was referring to are not necessary for morphs ... those were necessary for legacy rigging. {and please - if anybody is wanting to make clothes do consider Genesis, SO much easier}
A very blank .cr2 file is made using a program like Notepad. In it the readscript is put to call for the original .cr2 plus the inj/rem morphs.
The example from one of my ancient tuts is:
eta: it's a morph ... got the inj/rem made but not polished yet. Only thing is, as I found with the .obj files but said nothing 'cause nobody else mentioned it so I figured I must have been not doing something right [rare I know but it can happen lol ... ] - the eyeballs don't move with the morph.
Planning to polish and test and we'll see what happens.
btw - do you have D/S 3 Advanced?
Now I just wish I understood what you are writing about. ;) Still, I trust in your software abilities, Catherine. Does this mean that you are trying to create the elusive INJ file with Rachael's head?
It would be great if you could resurrect Rachael for everyone to enjoy without breaking the rules!
As Roy Batty would say "That's the spirit!"
:) :) :)
I guess you mean DAZ Studio 3 Advanced. Unfortunately not...
Yes, D/S = Daz Studio in here.
Will be sending you a PM when I find a few things and get them together.
Yes I'm trying to create that file ... but it's been awhile. Anyways I made some tutorials, I should read them ;-)
But more importantly I'm hoping to be able to help you do these things too.
Keep in mind though, that whether or not all this works out, you can certainly morph and use yourself any of the figures you morph!
That is wonderful news. Even if you fail, you still have my gratitude, Catherine!
I've been looking around for more info on how to create the INJ file in DAZ Studio. It took me about two hours to locate the ExP export function in my version of the Studio which is DAZ Studio 4.12 Pro. Just so others know (and I guess you are way ahead of me here already) - have the proper character selected, then right click on the "Screen" tab. A menu unfolds and in it is "Assets" which also has a sub-menu that contains the ExP exporter. That is the extent of my knowledge so far.
I'm not a DAZ Studio, Poser or Python expert by any stretch of the imagination. This is completely new territory for me. I think it is time an up-to-date INJ file tutorial was written. I will be very interested in reading it! Please assume the reader (me) has extremely rudimentary knowledge of the mentioned software.
I am realizing that I am mainly drawn to sculpting heads. I'm not saying I'm great at it. I simply like modeling a likeness out of V4 or M4 from time to time. Just as an informal hobby. I have no intention of becoming a professional sculptor! LOL
It would be good if I knew how to create an INJ file, so I can share with you in the future a head morph, if I think it is worth something.
And yes, I am aware that I can morph and use figures in the privacy of my home to my heart's content. ;)
Thank you for investing your effort into this project and your willingness to educate me, Catherine. That is not only very helpful but also touchingly selfless. :)
You're welcome.
It's working :-) {except for those eyes} Sending you another PM with the file. I do not suggest sharing this file as it needs some TLC ;-)
The D/S4.anything whatjamacallit, well, it didn't seem to work ... maybe one day somebody will figure it out and share the knowledge.
When you are done, would you do the honors and share the INJ file with others in this thread? After all creating this file is your contribution... :)
I think you need to check the files ;-) It's not ready for sharing until the matter of the eyes can be fixed.
I hear you. :)
Need a good laugh? Watch me trying to fix eyes lol ...
1. We did succeed in making a new .cr2 to load the original plus the new morphs, so that is doable.
2. The Rachael morph needs a little more work about the eyes and eyelashes. {I'm seriously not good with those lashes}
@ mic685_ddf880de57 When you can get the eyes, lashes fixed and also applied on the Rachael figure ... if you send the mass over to Hexagon, rename it to Victoria 4.2 then ship it back over to a Fresh Load of Victoria 4.2 - make the morph. Then run the script again but this time make it to have a new name. Hopefully that is how we can get all the morphs together.
Oh she sent me some new files to play with :-)
I edited the pathways, added a Drop Eye pose, and while not yet perfect it is usable with a little postwork. As permission by mic685_ddf880de57 was given a few posts up, here is the new zip for people to try out.
I don't suggest using the remove inj pose unless you know how to get those eyes back up lol ...
These are Poser type files, the character is found under Figures, AOBB ...
eta: zip removed by me ... source of problem has been identified so 'maybe' there'll be an update sometime in the future.
Catherine,
Yes. I had problems with those eyelashes all the time. Whenever I moved the head between Poser and ZbrushCore the top lashes of the left eye would somehow move into the top eyelid and the top eyelid would become misshaped (twisted and flattened). I also had the "eyelash" problem with the other eye but to a lesser degree and the eyelid didn't become misshaped. Every time, I would pull the eyelashes down and work on the top, left eyelid in ZbrushCore. When I moved the head back to Poser - same story again. I don't know what is happening with that and I don't know how to fix this problem. I am using Poser Pro 10 and ZbrushCore 2020. Also some 3ds max 2008 but to a much smaller degree.
I'm not sure but I think the same problems occured when I fixed the left eye in 3ds max and exported the head to Poser.
It is also interesting that when I look at the image you've posted, Catherine, the eyeballs are pretty misaligned while in my DAZ Studio they are just fine. I've been looking at that face on a 52" large screen tv, so I would
notice immediately if the eyes were so badly positioned. Another mystery. This is how she looks on my screen (I swear I have not changed a thing about the eyeball position before taking this attached screen shot):
Maybe someone had the same eye issues and knows how to fix them so they stay fixed? :(
I hope I've adressed the issues you have raised, Catherine. I wish I had the solutions but I don't and I never said this is a perfect model. I wouldn't leave the eyelid/eyelashes issues as they are if I saw a way out of them.
Well, not all 3D programs communicate the same way, that's for sure.
Did you want me to take that down or leave it there hoping for somebody else to know a fix?
Let's leave it for others to find a fix. I'm fine with constructive criticism and others improving on my (our) work. I'd love to see a perfect Rachael, even if it is someone else who achieves that perfection :)
To the community - please be so kind and share your work (if it is based on mine) with others. Thank you!
Last but certainly not least, thank you also for your enthusiastic and very supportive input, Catherine. If not for your work, Rachael's model wouldn't be available to everybody. That was my dream and you helped it come true. This makes me so happy. :)
With gratitude,
AOBB
You're welcome, glad I could help. Okay I'll leave it be for now.
If anybody is interested, this is the utility for making pose files in D/S that will work in both D/S and Poser.

A Sneak Preview of my WIP. Guess who's coming next... Yes, I know, his hair is abysmal. ;) The brows and textures won't be included. Only the freebie M4 Deckard head INJ.
Catherine are you willing to help me out again, if you think this project is worth it and you have time to spare? Please, please, say "Yes"...
The lacrimals are A-okay this time.:) I don't have any issues with the eyelids as far as I can tell (his eyes are so deeply set it wouldn't matter anyway). Eyelashes still are unruly.
Sure :-)
Perfect! Thanks! :) :)
Hi guys,
I've been working on the Deckard head but I am not satisfied with the results, so I won't ask Catherine to upload it onto the DAZ forum. At least not for now. Maybe, in the future, I will create a model that I will consider worthy of posting and then I will again ask Catherine for help. Don't hold your breath though. This is such a well known face that recreating it is probably better left to guys like Trevor Grove. I'm not in the same league. Well, at least I know my limitations. ;)
Thank you Catherine for your willingness to help me out! You are a treasure. :)
Cheers,
AOBB
Something to consider too ... esp. with well known famous people ... is that to have 'exact' with names, etc. can lead to more issues with regard to trademarks, etc. It's a complicated world. However most folk have at least 5 doubles of themselves somewhere in the world so to have a near look-a-like with another name is safer all around. It's really weird when traveling about and one actually sees one of their 'doubles' ... I crossed paths with 'myself' one day on the freeways to and fro Toronto. Same hairstyle, everything, spooky man. And years back there was a young man working in the grocery store, dead ringer for to be a son of Robin Williams.
As I know you're working on some ideas for the Rachael near look-a-like, I'll take down that zip for now too.
As we head into August which is our usual time for heat waves, all my working on projects is subject to temperature. Over 80 and all computers are off.
Thanks for pointing the trademark issues out, Catherine. I'm not sure - if I don't make a cent off my work is it still illegal to post someone's likeness? I've seen plenty of Deckard and Han Solo busts floating around the Internet. They can be downloaded by anyone. I am thinking now of TOSHI-TNE's work available on cults3d.com website. He has Han Solo and Princess Leia and... Rachael too! They are there for free and it doesn't look like that is a problem. Don't the problems start when money gets involved? That's what I assumed.
https://cults3d.com/en/users/Toshi_TNE/creations
I also found this:
https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/art/rick-decard
So maybe as long as it's for free, it's a model of a movie character, not the actor or actress itself and is not used in commercial projects it is okay to post those likenesses. That's what I figured out. If I'm getting this wrong, will someone in the know correct me, please? I don't want to be slapped with a lawsuit.
I think it would be wonderful to be able to share my work with you, so you can use it "as is" or modify it as you please and make fun artwork that I would be happy to see. I was always the type that gives stuff away. LOL.
I hope the temperatures don't go wildly off the chart hot and you don't have to switch off your computers, Catherine. ;)
BTW, I have also seen my own "doppelganger" and boy was she similar. Just slightly older. She was a wife of a guy I used to work with. That was a totally weird experience, so I know what you mean.
Today I am tired, so Rachael's head might have to wait until tomorrow. We'll see.
Some things I've noticed while sculpting Deckard's head: his features are unusual. His chin is skewed, his lips are crooked in a strangely sensuous way, nose twisted and pretty wide, eyes small and deeply set yet the whole face is rather good-looking. Because of this asymmetry and odd features I don't think it would be possible to do a good Deckard likeness just playing with head morphing sliders. Too unique.
I've heard that people find beautiful faces that have features that are an average of the population's features. Deckard's face is definitely an exception here. :)
Not over people matters, but concerning a laser conversion project I was willing to do ... well I'm one of those nigdets that likes to go and seek permissions first. I've actually had a number of companies give me the green light, which was really cool of them. But the owners of Hans Solo, etc. are "not" so liberal minded. Nope. Now if nobody is making money, generally speaking it can be that it's not okay but it's tolerated to a point. However the Star Wars company is NOT as tolerate as say Paramount is. But then they are really into marketing their stuff everywhich way they can ... so they are, to my way of thinking, also wanting to guard themselves against competition. And money is money. I have no money. But if somebody has a business or money and is caught by certain companies redistributing 'their' work, they can decide it worth it you know. That is one of the reasons us freebie makers fill a nitch. Companies tend to avoid anything that could possibly take them down. And trust me, the pockets of the folk owning SW and ST are DEEP.
End result of my friendly discussion with the lawyer from SW was 'no' to fanart. Yes I know that there's is a lot out there. I also know over time that things disappear. Now 'why' they dont' like fanart is beyond my comprehension but I don't worry about. Life is too short. There are LOTS of doubles out there and I shall have fun :-)
You know, you might find modeling a morph for the Genesis male figure a lot easier than for M4. It's more 'elastic'. Just an idea. {and saving the morphs is also a lot easier}
Oh, wow. That is good info, Catherine. I guess no more likenesses of BR characters from me online. I don't need trouble and I don't want to cause trouble either.
I was always terrible with money issues. I don't get that mentality of scarcity that permeats big film studios. Looks like good will and generosity are dying out. Someone once said that giving is receiving and I know what he meant. I find the scarcity mentality very destructive - on a personal level too. It is the breeding ground of unhealthy competitiveness, envy (not to be confused with jealousy) and avarice. Things that make people both internally and externally lonely and miserable.
I am sculpting the V4 and M4 heads because they have denser geometry than the basic genesis characters which allows me to put in more detail. I know of the HD versions of the genesis characters but don't you have to buy some licenses to use those? If I decided to go pro which I won't as I'm not that talented I would probably per your advice would switch to those. As things are though, I'll stick with the trusty V4 and M4. Nevertheless thank you for your wise advice, Catherine. :)
Oh I did not mean to discourage you ... just we have to be careful how we do things ;-)
Okay ... V4 and M4 it is then. The HD for the Genesis characters plugin is not available to the general public. One has to be a PA at Daz3D and AFAIK, has to then buy said plugin. What we can do is make "normals" of sculpted faces to apply to the Genesis characters. Inside D/S one can up the subdivisions which with the "normals" can provide some details.
btw - found the font used for one of those fancy posters they made of the characters.
It's free and it's here: https://www.dafont.com/metal-lord.font
Nice font. So Heavy Metal.
I see you are very much a proponent of translating the V/M4 head morph info to the genesis figures. I understand your point. They are the standard now and they have more capabilities than the legacy figures. That makes sense to me.
As Jean-Luc would say: "Make it so!" LOL
I think those might interest you, Catherine. ;)
Thank you. Don't get expectations too high though, Hexagon does not do individual hairs ;-)
I was thinking more along the lines of polygonal hair, actually... :)
A break in the temperatures, so nice lol ... mind you it's raining now but that's okay. Ground needs a little.
This is what starting a hair looks like.
