did you try my obj?
The author changed her mind and wants a crag style 'desert mountain', now. She thinks it looks more ominous. Luckily, that Bryce product has one of those, too.
However, I still want the obj ... lol. Gives my runtime more versatility and variety.
Scorpio,
Looking at my product library page, there are three files. I understand what the bottom 2 are for, but the first one works with the installer, which goes to daz, not Bryce. Right?
Do I install that top one, too?
I can't figure out how to install the desert construction product.
There are three files and none of them look familiar.
I already hate Bryce, lol.
What files do you have?
If it's an OBP then that needs to be imported into the object preset library
I downloaded all three files provided in my product library, not knowing which files I do and don't need.
You only need one: the first is a zip for DIM or manual install, the other two are standalone Bitrock installers (.exe for Windows, .zip for Mac)
I think I installed the content folder to the right place, but I don't see a content folder in Bryce. Should I?
Grrrr
I can't find what I've installed! I just want the bloody rock, so I can sent it to Daz. I hate complicated software! Huge time suck and I have deadlines.
How and where did you install it?
Like I do with Daz iles, I dragged the content file to the folder containing the content file in Bryce.
According to what is included in the pack you should find
Terrains
Desert trees
Detailing Props
Skies and materials
The Terrains, trees and props you should find in a folder here
I don't have this set, so am not certain what the folders would be called
The skies you should find under the skies tab and Mats under the Materials tab, found by clicking the arrow next to edit.
I'll look again, but I don't see the files that I can see in the zip file. Is there a way just to load the figure straight from the downloaded file, like we can an obj in Daz?
Bryce is very particular about the presets being in the presets library.
To be honest I always unzip to a temp folder and then use import on the Presets library to put them in a folder of my own making
Maybe that will work. Since I don't see me using Bryce for anything but sending specific elements to Daz, I need the easiest way to accomplish this.
How do I do what you describe?
So unzip to a temp folder
Open the preset libraries
Make a new folder and name it
find the presets and import them
The other symbol show is the materials, you do the same there in the materials library
Then once you have them into a folder safely, select the one you want to use, click the tick and it should now appear on your working pane.
So sorta how styles and brushes are loaded into Photoshop ... Let me try and see how I go about sending the crag I choose to Daz, so I can submit this scene to the author. Thank you :D
ok ...
I have the objs in Bryce, now, but get an error message when I try to send it to daz 4.6. Ideas?
What error message do you get? You have to remember I actually don't use DS, so will; have to ask someone who does, if I know what message you are getting
don't use the bridge - guess that what you tried
import it .
I restarted the computer, and it worked this time. I am now playing with my crag in DS and applied a nice rock shader. :D I'll share when I am finished with the scene.
On another note, is there a grid or center crosshairs within the Daz window?
OK ... The crag was sent to Daz just fine, but now, bryce crashes when I try to send an adobe to daz. I then tried to export the adobe as an obj, but only the arches of the adobe save.
What am I doing wrong?
It looks as though they could be made from Boolean groups. I think they have to be converted to mesh before they can be exported, and if Bryce primitives are involved in the boolean it can be difficult.
Can you check in Bryce how they are made?
BTW, old, and I had quite forgotten about them, but a couple of free buildings here http://www.jalberts.net/francemi/3dSC/nap.htm which may help you.
Would these help?

I know next to nothing about Bryce, lol, so I wouldn't be able to answer that, I don't think.
And thanks for that link. I can definitely use that pueblo for one of the buildings :D
Those are in my cart, as accent rocks. The crag I grabbed from Bryce. That worked. It's the buildings that are giving me the trouble, now.

Thanks :D
I bought one of his sets. The majority of them look in too good of shape and fancy. It's a post apocalyptic desert scene, lol. But as I said, I did buy one set and will likely get these others for other projects:D Thanks :D
Chohole, do you happy to know what the Contajen Thwarts are? I downloaded all of those NAP freebies, and don't know what they are, lol.
