RTX 3090 - Who's with me?

I nearly hit the floor when I saw the guy take it out of the oven. Ding! I think it's just about done.
So, I'm curious, anyone else thinking or planning to drop $1500+ on one of these bad boys?

I'm there, two of them, as soon as someone else irons out all the inevitable kinks.
I'm in. Going to take me a while, though, because right around the time the rumors started flying, it became apparent to me that I need to upgrade my whole computer. So all the money I'd been saving up for a Titan RTX will instead go towards a new motherboard, a 3960x and 128gb or RAM.
LOLNO 1500 is the max im willing to spend on an entire computer
Anyone want to buy rtx 3090 please don't forget me. (Take two cards.)
You're a good man and I deserve it.
No explanation needed to avoid An embarrassment .
im still paying off my 2080TI...
i always run out of VRAM, so 24GB would be nice, but i would rather just render subsections/canvasses than spend 1500 USD on the convenience.
Holding on until Micron has double density GDDR6X which I bet will then see a 3080Ti/Super respin with 20GB that already was rumoured. Or a 3070To with 16GB. Prices might have come down by then even a bit with Big navi on the streets.
Now, if DAZ utilizes the time to implement RTX IO and all the other goodness, please?
There's a bright gleam on the horizon already starting to render - in Iray - I feel :)
I can't afford a 3090, but I'd gladly purchase a 3080! :D
Lenio, I'm going to steal your signature. I like the design: simple, sleak, and to the point.
Don't worry, I'm close friends with a Nigerian prince. He tells me he's got your back so I sent him your email adress. I'm sure he'll be in touch soon.
Same boat man. I was hoping to not have to upgrade my whole pc, but alas...
Ugh, and I just realized I'll also need a new PSU.
Sure, thanks :)
I've done it with a table!
One of the reasons I save up and don't buy on credit; it puts the const up considerably and helps banks... I'll stop there I just get irritated.
Probably, It is time I upgraded my 980ti and I have saved up for an RTX Titan, so the new card is a titan under another name at a reduced price. What's not to like?
... Hears hoping the list is short.
I think my machine meets the minimum specs, so I'm not planning to upgrade anything. It's an old machine, but not too old I hope.
RTX mimimum specs (3090?):
- 650W PSU with two 8-pin power connectors (750W recommended)
- motherboard with 8 GB RAM memory (16 GB recommended)
- Intel Core i5 CPU or newer
- Windows 7 or newer, 64-bit OS
Has everyone intending to buy this beast made sure that their PC has enough physical space? It is a 3 slot card after all.
With an angle grinder, you don't have to worry
The MSI 3090 GAMING X TRIO 24G is only 0.4mm thicker than the MSI RTX 2080 Ti GAMING X TRIO

https://www.msi.com/Graphics-card/GeForce-RTX-3090-GAMING-X-TRIO-24G/Specification
I have currently a MSI RTX 2080 Ti GAMING X TRIO with a INNO3D GEFORCE RTX 2080 TI ICHILL BLACK (AIO) in SLI.
IF there will be a 3090 successor for the INNO3D AIO, I'll maybe upgrade both GPUs to 3090.
Should work from the space, after the MSI is not really thicker.
I'm upgrading my computer before I get one, and putting a 3-slot card in there will cost me an x8 slot, but I can live without that. I'll even have enough room to keep my 2060 Super and SAS controller in there, so all will be well.
Total length is 12.3", almost 2" longer than the 1080 (10.5"), so get out your measuring ruler (or tin snips), it's a monster card.
And it looks like the slot where it plugs in, is on the rightmost side (typical), so it will take up 2 leftmost slots. On my motherboard, there is only one configuration available to fit this card, (x16 x1 x1). My other x16 slots are near the edge, won't fit there, well, unless I get a two-story riser. :)
With a PCIe riser cable, you can put this card anywhere, right? Free up those empty slots. No joke.
Eh, I already had to dismantle my case to fit my 2060 Super in there, so no harm on that front until I find a larger case that suits me.
I'd love to get a 3000 Series GPU, but that the expected prices and My i5-46990k wouldn't really like it.. but hey, I'm close to a CPU upgrade soon.. plus, outside of DAZ Studio and Blender raytracing, I don't think I've seen my GPU max out..
As a TITAN RTX owner, I'm tempted to wait on a potential Ampere TITAN, but as of right now, I plan to buy two 3090s.
I decided to upgrade my computer when I condered the PCIe 4.0 support. Also, what generation CPU do you have versus what is recommended? I have a third gen Core i7 Z77 system and 64gig's of ram. It served me well, but I'm concerned a 3090 will be hampered by the slow CPU.
Besides, I was all set to drop $2500 on a RTX Titan when I found out the 3000's were coming, so now I'll put that money "saved" into a new system. Which in the long run I think is better than waiting for the enevitable 3090Ti/RTX Titan II, or whatever they call it. For me, I think upgrading my whole system with a 3090 will be money better spent than waiting for a better card and putting in my current system.
I'll wait until the 4000 series come out.
Well, it is a way of saving cash.
I've been planning on upgrading my 980ti since before the 1080ti appeared.
Wow, just wow.... I was about to reply that in fact you might need 4 slot to vent the thing a little, but in fact, maybe that's why the cooling solution is like that. If you slam 2 x 3090 next to each other, the fan farther from the braket of the reference cooler will do a passthru of the air between the cards and the others fans (connected to the outside) will throw the heat out.
That is some serious engineering... :)
For older machines, I think the most compatible card would be the 3080. Even though it's only 10GB, this is a 2-slot card, and shorter too, at 11.2". So, no tin snips for me, it'll fit.
And, if you're super patient, the 3080ti may come along too, with double the memory at 20GB. So, I see no rush to jump on board for a monster 3-slot card.
Yeah. I'm still holding out hope for the 3070 Super/ti with 16GB - I just can't budget for anything higher up the price bracket. On the down side it could be Q2 next year before I see it and there's also some opinion that NVidia will not release it at all.
If you're super patient, there's the 4000 series too. That we have no reason to believe won't happen. The 3080ti? Well, other than those in the know at Nvidia, that's anyone's guess.
Haha, this made me laugh.
My last case was bought specifically to ensure such problems are not likely - and to have a more secure footing for the graphics card. The larger is a 980ti, so lots of space; going to have to get the can of compressed air out though.
That looks very much like my last build. The one where I didn't have a modular PSU and the case was kind-of too small for what I wanted to put into it (also the one where I didn't care about cable management). The drive bays were rivetted on so I had to bend the metal with some pliars to fit the 2070 into it.
I bought a Be Quiet 801 Pro recently though. First upgrade for 4 years. It's very spacious, not too noisy and I added in a modular PSU so I don't have any cable hell.
I deliberately bought just about the shallowest case I could find, because the build was made to be a mobile audio production system, and PCIE cards weren't really a consideration for any of the stuff I was doing.
