Page 16 of the WIP thread finishes up with some updated WIPs and page 17 begins with what I hope will be some more good hair system thoughts and suggestions!

We have another two entries in the submission thread bringing the total to nine entries so far! I think there are a couple more waiting in the wings! I love how diverse this challenge has become! Each artist has a very unique and imaginative interpretation of the theme!

cuts down on render time lol
some really, really good interpretations this month... there is one that I really like.. Imagination in overflow mode for sure.. ;-)
Page 17 of the WIP thread was done before I knew it! There's some more hair discussion and some frustrations. It's all good though, because there are some neat ideas too.

Page 18 and possibly the last page of WIPs before submissions close has some by headwax! Great job on the rats, and the last one reminds me that maybe the lizard needs sell life insurance and not just auto insurance! ;-)

Speaking of submissions... The submission deadline is in a few hours, after which it will become the voting thread! If you've been working on something, don't forget to get it entered!
We're up to eleven awesome entries!
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/44589/
We've had two more entries into the submission thread. That brings us up to lucky 13!
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/44033/
Speaking of the submission thread, due to an unavoidable conflict, I will have to close the thread about an hour later than I had planned. I'm holding to that as still around 8:00 PM U.S. Mountain Time, as I worded it to leave me a little wiggle room should something come up.
I shall await the lawyers with my freshly gassed up and sharpened chain saw!
Voting is now open. It's later than I wanted it to be, but crap happens! ;-)
Anyway, we have fourteen very cool entries! Now go vote! Please? Pretty please- with sugar on top?
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/44589/
Page one of the voting thread and the first post on page two are entries. People have already started to vote!

I want to thank the kind folks that frequent the Commons for taking the time to look at our little challenge and vote for the various artists! It means a lot to them.
BTW, if you have a challenge near and dear to you, that you feel needs a few looks or votes, feel free to let us know about it right here!
We are on page 3 of the voting thread, The first page plus the first post of the second page has the submissions. There are fourteen great renders to choose from. Please go on over and check 'em out and vote for your favorite! You can vote for three! Remember, you don't have to use Carrara, you just have to appreciate good pictures.

Each of the artists worked very hard to produce their entry. The associated WIP thread had some great examples of how to do stuff. Some of those discussions and tips can be carried over for use in other programs or used to improve post production of rendered images from your software of choice. Each entry has links to the WIPs for that entry.

diomede64 has collected links to all our past Carrara challenge WIP threads. They are cool to browse through as you can see the evolution of the challenge and the artists that participated in them. There is also the advantage of the shared knowledge and sense of community.

The past challenges also highlight the generosity of our sponsors. DAZ 3D's support has been very generous and has grown substantially over time! Thank you DAZ 3D!
We have also had some amazing Published Artists donate prizes from their stores! I want to say thank you to all of them for their support of the challenges and for fostering a sense of community where learning can be fun!
I'm going to try and list all the excellent and talented PAs that have generously supported our challenges. If I miss one, my apologies, it was not intentional!

I wanted to mention again, that if any of you fine folks have a challenge you'd like us to take a peek at, don't hesitate to let us know. I know most of us like looking at great renders!
Also, if you want to leave a comment in this thread, the WIP thread or with your vote, you are more than welcome to do so!
It's getting close folks! Only 48-ish hours to go until voting ends!
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/44589/
Wow, time flies when you're having fun (or hosting a challenge!) One more day before this challenge ends! If you haven't voted and would like to, you still have around 24 hours!
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/44589/
It sure is hard to believe the submission/vote thread is up to four pages already! Thank you to all who entered and to all who have taken the time to vote!
http://www.daz3d.com/forums/discussion/44589/P45
Remember, there's no Carrara requirement for voting!
Holy crap! The madness ends in a few hours! Go check out the artwork and then vote for your favorites!!!

Thanks for being such a diligent host, Evilproducer. As they used to say in in Boss Tweed's day, wait for the farm vote to come in. But I'd say there is a good chance we will have a first-time winner. Might be an encouraging sign for more people to join in next time.
Thanks Diomede!
A little less than hour to go before voting closes. I think I left a link in one of my previous posts. It may be hard to spot. ;-)
Voting is now closed! Thak you to everybody that participated in the challenge, and thank you to all those that took the time to look at the entries and voted! It does matter! Results shortly!

I wanted to extend a very special thank you to everybody from the Commons and other areas of DAZ 3D's forums that visited our little challenge and took the time to view the entries and vote. We hope that if you had the time to look at the WIPs that perhaps Carrara was demystified a bit for you if you were unfamiliar with it. Thank you again for making it a success!
To those that are new to this challenge, the winner gets to host the next challenge and decide the theme and rules. The original idea was to promote Carrara through educating others about what Carrara can do. This is why a WIP thread is a good idea. Another way to educate the user is to ask both new users, intermediate, and veteran users to step out of their comfort zone and maybe use a tool or function in Carrara that is usually not often used, like the meta-ball modeler or deformers. Another major goal we hope to achieve is to show DAZ 3D that there is interest in Carrara, and Carrara vendors and that Carrara can provide a valuable revenue stream to DAZ 3D so they keep developing it.
I wanted to correct the vote tallies, as I made an error that tied Pimpy and Headwax. Pimpy actually had 13 votes and Headwax had 12. So no tie. Sorry about the error.
