Wow, that worked great on this sweater I just bought at Rendo. I was using one of Sveva's crochet textures this afternoon, but it only came in burgundy. Now I tried the bump trick and the result is much better than I got trying to recolour it.
Thank you <3
I'm glad it was helpful. I use that trick a lot, as I often have a specific color I want for the render and it's really easy to switch out the color that way. :)
The Dogz outfit is a really nice update to the G3 version. Really nice work with the wrinkles. Greedy as I am though, I wish there could have been an untucked morph for the shirt. Since it's straight-bottomed and only made to be worn tucked, dForcing it won't help. Hopefully there will be a G8M version that caters to unkempt boys.
I'll provide examples of ideas...
Girl 1 - (dForce Sincerity Dress, iWave Nylon Stockings, Ballerina Flats all for G8F)
Girl 2 - (H&C School Uniforms for G8F)
Boy 1 - (Eldritch Seeker for G2M, SpeX for Genesis )
Boy 2 - (H&C Polo Shirt Outfits for G8M)
The girls are 9, the first boy is 10 and the second (with the Switch) is 8. I actually make younger characters often (having my own kids makes it a little easier) and you can pull off some pretty good results with those outfits.
....I sttll rememeber when girls were not allowed to wear slacks or pants in school.
Glad you like the Outfit :), I am indeed working on the Males version which is nearly complete, as a little bonus The male version will also ship with a set of fully rigged pants (trousers) for females.
As for kids clothes & modesty, the only major difficulty Ive noticed, particularly with dresses and tops for girls is that most adult ones have a very low cut neck, (for cleavage) this looks very strange on kid. So if i need female clothes for a child Im always looking at the neck line more than anythign else.
It easy enough to adjust skirt and dress hem lengths via a morph, or the mesh grabber tool - particularly with dForce in use as it overides the JCMs which will get a bit messed up when you change the length. But a low neckline is not something you can really fix or kit bash.
Perhaps I'm hoping too much. I'm one of those who upgraded to G8F but not to G8M so all my males are G3M. I have the female uniforms (just bought the G8F version today) but not the male. So I am hoping that the G8M version will work with G3M ... too much to expect?
Sadly not, there is no way to do that, it would need a complete seperate version to refit to G3Ms including all supported shapes and joint correctives.
There is SYs converter https://www.daz3d.com/sy-genesis-8-clones-for-genesis-3 if you used that, and were dForcing the outfit, in theory that should work ok. But I have not tested so dont take my word for it yet!. Without dForce, you would likley run in to some problems on some of the joint bends.
Ah well, thanks anyway. I have not had much luck converting clothing using clones - they usually look fine on a T-Pose/A-pose figure but don't follow poses too well. As you say, perhaps dForce would help but I'll wait to see if anyone else comments on that.
By the way - I second the request for an un-tucked version of the shirt.
I'll see what i can do - post release.
Did you try this method for G8 to G3 conversion?
https://www.deviantart.com/sickleyield/journal/Tutorial-Convert-Clothing-G3-to-G8-G8-to-G3-686682065
Yes, and I have done that a few times but it can be a lot of work if it has to look good, depending on the material.
Ah, incredible trick! Just tried with a shirt and it works great - it looks like you even get more detail that way. Thanks!
Yes, in fact I tried that before anything else. As I said, I don't have much success no matter what I try. The best clothes converter I have tried, historically, has been Wear Them All but that was G2 to G3 and I want G8 to G3. The conversion methods I have tried usually work to a point but then I pose them and it goes wrong. I don't really have time to work through examples so all I can say is that I chalked-up clothing conversions to another "nice try but no cigar" category of utilities.
..what about this?

Doesn't the K4 clothing autofit to the M4/V4 which you then autofit to Genesis autofit to Genesis 2 autofit to Genesis 3 autofit to Genesis 8 and then save as either a wearable preset or save as a new asset?
Life's too short.
There's no need for all the leap-frogging - Genesis 8 comes with clones for All of the previous Genesis figures. So you'd just need to get the K4 clothing onto Genesis and save it as a wearable preset. You could then load that onto Genesis 8.
Autofit to a figure only works with weightmapped figures, you can't autofit something to M4 or V4.
There was a freebie clone to autofit K4 clothes to G1 though, and you can autofit directly from G1 to G8.
OK, because my attempt to fit all those great K4 clothing to G8 were miserable.
Do you know where the freebie K4 clone is? Thanks!
OK, I'll try it that way first as it is a real time saver. Sometimes that way works better but sometimes the working through all the generations works better.
I need to see if I have install all of Katerine's great autofit freebies.
This has a Kids 4 Clone: https://www.daz3d.com/wear-them-all-autofit-clones-expansion-for-genesis-3-male-s-and-genesis-3-female-s Just get it onto G3, save as a wearable preset, then load it to G8.
Please remind me when to use Wearable and when to use Figure/Prop presets?
The freebie K4 clone, along with one for V4 and M4 is provided free with the Genesis figure, you don't have to buy anything.
I don't know. I never save as a "Figure/Prop" when moving clothing from one generation figure to another. I only ever save it as a wearable preset. Maybe I'm doing it wrong? lol
It seems to work fine that way though. I have wearable presets from G1 to G3 that I saved years ago that still load fine.
Thanks. I'll do that.
I think really Figure/Prop if you're a PA releasing a new product or a hobbyist wanting to learn how to do things the way PAs have to do it. I'm not sure though.
All I do is make sure the clothing I choose for my child figure is drape-friendly. After my child character is created, I scale the figure up to fit the garment rather than scaling the garment down. Then I run an animated simulation. Usually works pretty good.
...wishlisted this for now. Hmm, being able to use Aiko 3 clothing as well. Already have the original Wear them All Clothing Smoothers for G3.
I'm going to have to set a day aside to do that. K4 wasn't around long enough to generate a lot of content, but there was some, and some of that was prime.
A pity that doesn't work for the gen3 kids. They were around for longer and there was quite a bit of their stuff that I'd like to be able to still use.
