Hey Everyone,

Normally we don't announce staff changes or make them public in the forums. However, since I'm probably the most active DAZ employee in the forums I feel/hope that my absence won't go unnoticed.

Friday the 8th will be my last day here at DAZ. I've accepted a position teaching middle school math. It's been just over a year since I moved to a full time position here and became the public face of the company in the forums and I've got to say its been a great year.

I'd like to thank all of you for making this community what it is. I'd also like to thank you all for an amazing year. I wish you all the best and I hope to bump in to you all in the forums from time to time. I won't be going by DAZ_jared anymore, but I'll still be around occasionally under my PA name Jr. PupN'Such.

Well, you're already used to dealing with trolls, so that should serve you in good stead. :D

It's always sad to lose a voice of sanity around here. All the best, and may your lesson plans never grow shorter.

After dealing with forum and customers, teaching a class of kids will be a piece of cake. ;-)

Good luck, and thanks for all the hard work.

I hope they let you come back mate
I tried a teaching course over 30years ago and dropped out screaming and crying, OTHER PEOPLES kids have not gotten better I think either, put me right off of having any though I doubt mine could have ever been THAT BAD, before that I liked kids a lot.

Oh, crap! We drove another one away! :-)

At least you got some experience with obnoxious, head-strong, and opinionated here; the big change is now you get to listen to it rather than reading it - and less time to work up your response. :-)

OTOH, middle school math should present fewer issues than what you've been through here.

We'll miss you - but good luck in the new endeavor!

(Oh - and you may not have the big hammer any more, but I hear chalk and erasers work pretty well :-) )

Good luck, Jared! Middle school math, eh? Don't forget that the best teachers are the ones that challenge their students to think. I basically slept through the first 5-6 years of school. I kept getting sent home with blank pages the teacher had inscribed with "This represents 4 hours of classwork!" :red: Then, a math teacher decided to teach some of the brighter kids Boolean Algebra. It was like a light bulb turned on over my head. Within a couple of years, I was reading the Radio Amateur's Handbook cover to cover to teach myself electronics, and I was at the head of the class. Appreciating the power and beauty of mathematics is not something kids can learn with their thumbs on some gadget. They actually have to use the grey matter...

"There are 10 kinds of people in the world: Those who understand binary numbers, and those who don't."

    Good luck!
