just downloaded via dim daz studio 4.14, either I haven't been paying attention or DS 4.13 is being skipped last I took notice was we were still on DS 4.12, maybe skipping 4.13 being thought as an unlucky number to some being how the curse of 2020 has been maybe makes sense to not take any chances

Judging by whats happened to the store, trying to avoid bad luck by not calling it 13 is obviously considered cheating and will be punished.

By the way, save previous installer, because you might want to roll back as you will find lot of new features and then update to current version.

A rule of thumb for software is to not download the first release / version of anything. Ill wait for now :)

dunno 2013 was not a particularly bad year from what I remember (unless you ran marathons in Boston)  and a baker's dozen gets you a bonus bun

    Oh man, didn't do that.

It's probably too late to do something about it now, right?

The store update is already a big pain, they refused to release Daz Studio 4.13 on Friday 13.

It is not downloading of download failing with my slow internet connection. Tried more than 12-14 times.

That would have been epic!! Oh well, boring 14 seems to be workign so far. Don't forget to merge your menus like the release notes recomend.

I figure the real number DAZ wants to avoid is version 5.0.  After all, when Poser made that major release jump, the program was so riddled with bugs and glitches that its immediate future seemed in serious peril, thus prompting DAZ to start making its own "in house" render suite should worse come to worst.

Normally, when a program reaches version 4.9, they may note a couple of minor tweaks like 4.91 or 4.92, but eventually they'll make that jump to version 5.0 (five point oh or five point zero).  Yet DAZ went from 4.9  to 4.10which most other companies would read as "four point one oh" or "four point one zero".  DAZ?  Nope, they stated it should read as "four point ten".

Yeah, I think DAz is terrified of ever labeling its suite as "DAZ Studio version 5.0"  The team will just continue tagging unconventional numerics to the forth relaese, be it :four point twenty-sevm" or even "four point eighty-nine" just to avoid the perceived curse of "five point zero".

And if anybody, particularly the mods or admins take this too seriously and desire to censor it, then I may just be able to sell you some "prime" real estate in south east Georgia to you guys.

I've seen few mentions that this update drops support for yet another level of graphics cards. That might be interesting for those of us with older gpus.

That is normal in US to skip floor 13 in buildings but I'm never heard of doing that with software or hardware versions.

It isn't a decimal - the version numbers are x.x.x.x, so currently we have 4.14.0.8 after 4.12.1.118 (I think) - as such they need to be read as integers, not fractions. Daz generally doesn't refer to just 4.x, at least not in anything that Rob has had a chance to edit.

Why are people so supersticious about 13? We live in the 21st century you would think people would have gotten over that decades ago.

They can always go to DAZ Studio 2021 after 4.99.99.9

...yeah that was when I was "laid off" from my last job and several months when after Unemployment ran out decided to retire early as finding a new job that pays even a halfway decent wage when you are older is a lot tougher.  It's particularly disconcerting when the person interviewing you could be your child or even grandchild.

So we can already forget the 13th generations of figure (2033 or later) with Victoria 13 and Michael 13, it will never happen.
