Not having a steady 40 hr work week,, Mondays don't have the usual "dread factor" here.

Ugh, spent 30 minutes (and 4.50$ for a large tea and bagel) just waiting for a table with an outlet at the hotspot today. One thing they could have done during the remodel was add a few more outlets.

Cloudy and already in the mid 90s with the hottest part of the day still to come. Worse, it makes it more humid and there is no breeze.

OK, so for some silly reason, even with the new keyboard the "e" key has started crapping out on me. It makes no sense, there should be no reason this should be occurring. The other "troublesome" keys (including the "4", "6" and back arrow) I had on the notebook work fine on the new keyboard, it is just the "e" again (I had to go back and insert 6 e's in the preceding of this sentence as well as 8 more in this bracketed statement alone). I can understand if it is a "dead key", but with a completely brand new keyboard right out of the box, I shouldn't be dealing with this. I can't believe it would be anything within the system's instruction set causing this to occur as how wouldn't it recognise the proper ASCII code being sent from the new keyboard that should tell it to echo an "e/E" to the screen each time the key is pressed. I am not in any "alternate" keyboard set so that shouldn't be the reason, and on a seemingly random basis, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

Really becoming an absolute pain in the bum as sometimes the "misspelled" words are actually different legitimate words that spell check doesn't catch so I have to proofread through everything I type before submitting.

Could it be that your typing has developed an oddity related to how you had to type on the dead keyboard?

...no because on other systems (like my workstation or the system I did an evaluation on during my interview last week) I experience none of these issues at all. Just the notebook. It's not a bad USB port either as anything else I plug in to them works fine, even if it was, it wouldn't only just replicate the exact same issue, but would affect other keys as well.

OK 17:00, now I have to go. Be back tomorrow (hopefully earlier).

...did I mention how much I dislike downloading via public Wi-Fi?

I especially hate it when the remaining time gets longer instead of shorter.

Need to hit at least 4 numbers in tonight's Megabucks lotto so I can pay Comcast off and get back online from home.

    OK now I'm gone...

complaint: Stephane Petite 3's bikini doesn't load properly. Smoothing modifier doesn't work on the bikini. I should download it again. No, I can't show the front. lol

new version fits Stephanie Petite. Her nipples are poking and visible through the top. I guess I need a morph to hide her nipples?? brb

edit: never mind, I can use the smoothing modifier. I thought I was using Daz Studio 3.

edit 2: oh wait, the smoothing modifier still doesn't work on the bikini top.

edit 3: turns out the bikini was not fitted to SP3 correctly. I'm so used to clothes that automatically fit onto Genesis 1 and 2.

In the distance someone is playing bagpipes, something you don't usually hear in these parts. Google fu is telling me it is the anniversary of Bonnie Prince Charlie and the Jacobite uprising of 1845 today wow how romantic - history is sure full of wonders maybe there is a re enactment in the park ?

Still, I've had too many people badger me about never ever being 'creative' with the rules under any circumstances, even in personal games and having a 'good' red dragon was like blasphemy to them. Seriously, had a person freaking out over a character of mine because of that - told me to 'do it right or don't do it at all' because rulebooks are law it seems >_>

One of the major NPCs in my own campaign world is a Gold dragon with levels as a Druid... so I don't have problems with bending alignment rules. On the other hand, the major conflict in my world is along the Good/Evil axis, and the background for dragons in my world would make it highly unlikely that a Red would be good, so I would want a good explanation (assuming I allowed dragon PCs) from a player wanting to play such a character.

The last ten minutes of work is usually the most boring, which is when my mind wanders the most but the idea that struck me first was a big Red killing an adventurer who had a cursed rod of alignment shift. Tis but a thought

Hmm so then becomes like, Neutral or something? :)

Actually kinda reminds me that in Age of Wonders, the Red Dragons were very much like their DnD counterparts - I mean like, very much so. Then Age of Wonders 2 rolls around and without warning the Red Dragons are Neutral instead of evil, couldn't care less about treasure and shiny things ("They simply can't digest the shiny baubles those that try and kill them always seem to carry"), and don't really have much interest in what the other races do as long as they leave them alone. Complete shift in personality, and unlike some of the other changes (Azeracs and Lizardmen vanishing, Wizards taking the place of kingdom leaders, etc) it just 'happened' and zero explanation was ever given. None. No in-game reason, no outside reason, nothing.

The reds in the original were said to have been extremely aggressive and had a fondness of destruction, were terribly greedy, and were worshiped by the Orcs who would build their cities around their lairs. Whenever the dragon decided to go off on its weekly "Destroy the countryside" routines, the orcs would see it as a sign that it was time for some conquest.

As of AoW2, the reds have always been Neutral and more or less polar opposites of their original forms. The other dragons (Ice, Gold, Black, Faerie, Undead...) stayed the same though. It was just the reds that were given a change in personality and alignment.

Also, friend just drew this picture of me completely by surprise <3<br /> Logged in after getting home and thar it was in my inbox!

He is a real cutie hey :)

Speaking of Zbrush, was on their forums poking around and I saw some draggems :)

whoa and this as well

    Was a good read :)

More focused on 3D artists as the title so subtly hints towards, but they never once said "This OS is better because reasons" or "This OS is the worst because reasons". They also mentioned Linux ^^

What most ad campaigns don’t mention, though, is that Macs actually are PCs. After all, PC is only an acronym that means “personal computer” and has nothing to do with the hardware or software that makes up that personal computer.

Still, common perception is that there’s a difference between a “Mac” and a “PC”. While they may look vastly different on the outside, when you open them up those vast differences start to disappear rather quickly. They’re all made up of the same sort of hardware components, made even more similar ever since Apple started transitioning away from proprietary hardware inside of their computers and continues to this day, as evidenced by Apple’s recent partnership with IBM.

I've been considering getting a Mac specifically for design and leaving my laptop for gaming and stuff actually. Recent uh... Financial surprises have kept me from following through with that though

I run all three desktops plus a Darwin/UNIX server and so does almost everyone else I know. Is also cool to run sever farms on Linux/WINE combos, nobody wants to virus check a hundred or more compy's at a time, Windows is a real drag like that :)

I can imagine for renderfarms and other servers that would be a big drag indeed

Something I noticed is that Cinema 4D won't run on Linux natively (Though they did mention that if a Linux version was absolutely needed by a company they'd discuss a privately issued version of it) but it's render server application will. So it can have a Windows, Mac, and Linux all working on an image together, but the actual program won't work on Linux without modifications or an OS emulator.

It's good to have options though :)

That is a quite common scenario. The render engines ought to run on anything you can throw into a render farm, and given those applications are (mostly) running on machines with no monitors the graphical user interfaces aren't critical or even important. Most OS's do the same thing, is only the GUI which differentiates them, think that choice is important there because it makes for competition and competition keeps prices low :) Oh PS IRIX OS might be an all time personal favourite

Oh caveat: actually most OS's do the same thing until you actually want them to produce the same result and they won't, which is why we bake procedural motion or texture before a render, the actual processors themselves produce slightly differing mathematical results from different configurations. Go figure
