Drutherson 8

  • Why in the world are people still judging a product by what the marketing department decides should get bundled in with it?

While I don't yet have a use for one, this looks like it's bursting with character and feels charismatic, which is unusual for a figure of such diminutive height. Probably an apt male counterpart to the various female fairy characters.

Still waiting for Reptilian 8, mind you...

I love him. Add a great big beard and some girth and instant Lord of the Rings (movie) fanart dwarf.

I think the beard everybody is asking about is from https://www.daz3d.com/cc-beard-boss-for-genesis-8-males (thankfully I already have it)

I asked for more variation with male body types, but was specifically asking for a "Floki" lanky-strong male...but not freakishly overcut like a lot of the recent males have been lately...like the ones that have ultra-dehydrated diamond-cut abs (I like abs, but not abs like that...that's not a good look imo, lol). Even so, I did buy Drutherson without question. Without the deal it would have just been the base character, but the 100$ of DO (and the fact I was able to buy some recent stuff) pushed it over the top.

You are incorrect when you say we get free stuff. We get free old junk. This deal is like overpaying for a timeshare you don't want so you can get a coupon good for $100 worth of clothes at the local thrift store.

Really? Because with my $100 worth of free content, I was able to get Stonemason's very recent steampunk set, as well as a bunch of other recent items like Celani 8.

The bundled items make no sense in a lot of ways, but I love the base character so I'm picking them up just for the ability to clear out a huge chunk of my wishlist.

It's messed up. I could only see Gen 1 and 2 junk. I looked again later and newer stuff was there. I started loading up the cart and after checking the prices I go back to the list and can only see the Gen 1 and 2 junk again. New web site, same old screwups.

What the?? Where did all that stuff come from? I checked early this morning and found a load of stuff I had passed up at LEAST a dozen times before.

Now there's all kinds of items. Frankly, I still will probably never use the gnome, but at least the deal is better than I thought it was.

I like him. Here he is with some Ollie mixed into the head. He's sporting Christian's eyebrows here.

I think I remember you commenting on this some time ago. People are critiquing the bundle as a whole & the deal.

For me, I have no interest whatsoever in gnomes, fairies, trolls, goblins or almost any other magical fantasy creatures.

Drutherson looks fine, as toons go. I'm sure people who like gnomes & the like will enjoy him. Looks like a lot of work & care went into him.

That's my review of just the character

I like him as well.  However, he is too well endowed (without adding to the base load) to wear leggings around children.  blush

I got both for $60 with the $100 of free credits, I'd he was basically free, but I could see the struggle if you've purchased a fair bit of what the store has to offer within those select items that basically get for free

Lot of tough customers. I guess it comes down to the availability of things you are interested in for the $100 of free stuff. A LOT of bundles were at 75% off so for me it was a no brainer. Got a lot of things off of the wishlist.

I glanced through this thread and it said the new gnome figure had a beard? But looking at Dinky, I don't see a beard listed. Every promo image of him has him sporting a beard that fools you into thinking he comes with one, but reading the fine print it's only fibermesh eyebrows, no beard. so where is the beard[s] used in the promo's come from?

Also, the banner states buy both bundles and get $100 off DO's, and then 30% extra off them. do they mean extra 30% off the 2 bundles? Or additional 30% off any DO's we put in the cart over the $100?

I think some of the beards look like they come from this set: https://www.daz3d.com/cc-beard-boss-for-genesis-8-males

Edit: Oops! Looks like melissastjames beat me to it!

Confusingly, the offer page has two links to Daz Originals.

Where it says "Get a Select Daz Original absolutely FREE with coupon code: ONE-GREAT-GIFT" you get a link to https://www.daz3d.com/Recommended-DO-Items-For-Your-Library which is, as you say, a load of passed-over stuff.

Much further down, in a section labelled "Tons of Daz Originals - 50% OFF", the link is to https://www.daz3d.com/numerous-daz-originals This has much more recent things, including some just over the 60-day threshhold of Daz New. I made a significant dent in my wishlist picking up freebies there.

The problem is that Daz's offer pages are so complicated that you need to read them as closely as a jailhouse lawyer looking for the basis for an appeal. Every link must be followed and checked, every * and ¥ must be read and understood. By the third cup of coffee you'll have a better idea of how to approach a Daz sale.

i think I see the problem. There are two sections of DO. One is when you buy the bundles for 100 free. and one is for the one free item of DO. those are the old vintage items.

i think this is a great deal. I got a cart full of great stuff. I even payed a little over, because the price was nice!

sprang for the deal. bought a GC to get another 10% off ...  so ended up at $54 ..i still have $0.95 in my credits laugh
Hard to pass with that $100 DO free ... and the add-ons,. including the HD ... that alone was very cool.

Okay, so I have a strange sense of humour.

All day I've been reading this thread and people kept saying "what a great deal" and " I emptied my wishlist" and I'm thinking "what, didn't you get most of that stuff the first 75 times it was offered?" And "THIS stuff is in your wishlist?"

So, it makes me laugh a much needed laugh to find I was wrong about what exactly what the offer is. MUCH better than I thought

whatsa with the name, Drutherson ?????
I'd druther that than this? the son of Druth? Who is Druth?

I was wondering about that too as people in the area I live at now actually still use archaic words like "druther" and "have my druthers" so I searched and Drutherson is actually a real last name.

well.. I will not buy a thing... until they fix the Police Billboard :D

I know you keep posting this everywhere, but... I haven't seen anyone else post about it, so have you tried re-downloading? If there is a problem with the actual product it will need the PA to fix it (they might have already contacted them if you've submitted a ticket, but given the pace currently it might still be in the pile).

It's valiant to go 'on strike' but I just wanted you to be aware of who 'they' are.

and tried to relaod.. but now several elements keep "failing"

Oh, that's something Rawb is still working on, I've had that a few times the past week as well. Usually, it fixes itself after a while (anywhere between 5 and 24 hours). No idea what causes it, but it feels like the server or the connection is unstable. It wouldn't even amaze me if the files got moved to a more stable server by the time I manage to download them. For smaller files, you could attempt downloading them manually through your browser. (just place the downloaded zipfiles in the Install Manager Downloads folder, then refresh your "ready to install" tab in DIM.)

  • Just to see the size difference between them both  a wee inpromptu photoshoot between helping santa ;)

Me as well but with different files.  I opened a ticket but will try again later.
