What lighting was used in the scene?

If you're asking about the one I posted, it's lighting from the HDRI as well as a soft backlight and fill light.

    Is any G3 stuff dforce?

Not unless it was released after the advent of dForce (and it specifically says dForce). Some PA's will put out dForce outfits that are both G8 and G3.

That being said, with a little experimentation and trial and error, you can easily convert most anything to dForce. You just have to learn how to paint a dForce weight map. For example, pictured below is a G2F dress converted to dForce -

Amazing job with the dress! I would have never thought it was G2

Thanks! It's a kitbash of a few different things, but the dress is https://www.daz3d.com/arthurian-outfit-for-genesis-2-female-s and converted to dForce. It autofits surprisingly well and converts to dForce with minimal effort...just a little painting on a dForce weight map and that's it.

The dress texture also converts to Iray quite well.

@milissatjames You have done a wonderful render and an incredible job on the G2F outfit. There are so many excellent outfits that came out during that generation for both females and males. You are an inspiration.
  • The Evilinnocence store has several Christmas outfits, along the lines of the "community Christmas Annie at DuckDuckGo" linked earlier.

(The name "Evilinnocence" is well chosen. Some products are "innocent," while others are .... not.)

The outfits are made for earlier generation characters, however Evilinnocence also offers their CrossDresser app for free (a fairly intuitive clothing conversion software, which includes clear instructions and obvious check-boxes for customization). Though the software is free, and many licenses for various figures are free, some of the figure licenses do cost a few bucks (they have bills to pay, also).

    Might be worth investigating?

Many Evilinnocence products can also be found here in their DAZ shop, too. smiley

  •  Part of the problem is that Daz Marketing seems to think "realistic homages to The Nightmare Before Christmas are the only thing artists want to do this December." See today's theme, and assorted other horror &/or Halloween themed releases the past month or so.

Now, I did pick up some Santa stuff & older winter environments during PC+ sale.

Hmm, I think I have some of the Victorian men's clothing & I got some period dresses in PC+ sale. Maybe I should do Mr. Scrooge scorning the businessmen's charity drive from the First Stave or showing up at his nephew's party at the end?

I don't know, but I see there are some nice horror themes.

Christmas isn't fun for everyone, so it's good to have options.

Quite a few things I've had on my wishlist I'm now able to get for $3.99.

The Victorians had a great thing for ghost stories at Christmas, so it isn't as if the horror stuff is out of context (the bleak midwinter and long nights, for those in the northern hemisphere, lend themselves to such).

I am actually confused as to what sort of Christmas items the OP wants.

Their link suggested Recent Westernised fancy dress

but the outfit I suggested though for genesis1 was ignored as not the sort of thing they were interested in

I have not tried Dforcing it yet autofitted to Genesis 8 or tried adding strandbased fur though of course that cannot be dforced if not a PA

but I am still confused as to what exactly they are looking for

The Morphing Fantasy dress has  Christmas textures if going for something more traditional (ahem Moyra Renderosity) as do the capes and one can use actual Christmas shaders on anything

  • This is what I ended up coming up with. Christmas2020 by Mademoiselle3DArt on DeviantArt I think it turned out okay. I have to link to deviant art because Daz keeps taking my photos down. LOL. I'm apparently more naughty than nice.

Thanks for the history bit, Richard. That explains A Christmas Carol, which I love. I'm not a big fan of most creepy stuff, though. I'm glad others like the fright models. (and FTR, I like the Halloween PC+ freebie from a few weeks ago.

I was almost sure I had a couple in my e-mail that I was going to post for ya, but they're from a different shader pack. The ones with yours must still be on my computer at home - I'll post one for ya when I finds them laugh
