*Still off RRRR topic sort of *
After some hints from Karibous I got this progress in Poser but still lack some of the light control I'm used to.

    Title: Dignity is Difficult

No story with this one, just a scene. The basic concept here is actually one I've had in mind since I got the Safari Furniture as a freebie; since it came up in the RRRR, I decided to finally put it into motion. Of course, the J. Buckley set didn't really suit the character I wanted as the focus, so I had to come up with a different way to use it. Turns out that although putting clothes meant for David onto a groundhog is a non-trivial problem, it's not impossible...

Diomede #3: That's a hazard he should have seen coming... :) Nicely done.

Diomede #4: Now there's a novel way to incorporate different items. Somehow I thin this show wouldn't be far off if dinosaurs were still around...

MelanieL #1: I'm surprised it doesn't happen more often. I like the variety in the background Batmen.

Sasje #1: Lovely image. Picture really tells the story. The light flare is especially nice.

Thanks MelanieL and Luci45 for your comments on my first image!

I'll take my third pull a little later. Got to run now.

Nice essays on lighting, Totte and KaribousBoutique. I'm almost inspired to return to Poser. Almost.
Thanks for the comments, MelanieL and Luci45.
@Morgan, great job on the furry groundhog in David's clothes. It does have a story.
@Sasje, lovely concept and execution. Bravo.
@Melanie, creative use of the bat. That would be a fun convention.

Bless you, Kari! Your Poser Lighting tutorial is excellent!

I've always had a (slight, these days) preference for Poser, simply because I've been using it longer. (Since around 2005, if memory serves.)

I'd also like to point out another advantage Poser has over DS: cameras.

Poser has several exceedingly useful cameras - the Face camera, Right- and Left-hand cameras, the Posing camera, as well as the traditional orthographic cameras (right side, left side, front, back, top, bottom). DAZ Studio has the orthographic cameras, but the others? Nothing like them! And once you get used to using them, you miss them when you don't have them available.

For the record, I mentioned this in the 'What do you want to see in DAZ Studio 5?' thread. On my wish-list - more, and more useful, cameras.

kairbous, I always adjust spot and distant lights in DS by selecting them "as camera" and look through them, pretty darn simple.

Oh, yeah! I use the shadow-cams when I'm arranging lights, in both programs.

(And DS at least has the courtesy to load a new light at the zero position, instead of that totally arbitrary position that Poser pulls out of its @$$!)

from a complete n00b prospective, the poser pin-cushion light control looks cool and useless at the same time. That other thing with the hands and disjointed body parts looks just as bad. Can I pleas, pretty pleas, stick with just Daz Studio for now, lol.

Thanks for both the PDF's, I'll comprehend them some day. At least the non-Studio parts. Ive been using the light-view thing almost from day one, it makes it so easy to lign up lights and stuff.

Place a cam on each spot you want it, save the cams as a scene subset, and vala. I did that for my big-gray-box scene I test everything in. I have 9 cams in that preset of sorts (including a side and front close-up face cam).

I'm trying to make an effort to keep up better with what's new here:

Sasje #1 "Curiously" - nice one, makes me really want to know what's inside that box - pretty light effect too.
Morgan R. Lewis #2 "Dignity is Difficult" - that's actually quite a thought-provoking image - could be so many different things going on there. Well done with that outfit on the groundhog too! (And thanks for your comments on mine)

And thanks too to Totte, Luci45, diomede64 for your comments.

OK, OK, I opened Poser a couple of times, tried some stuff, groaned and quit. it is so slow, must be the 32-bits. I will try again with something simple after I read your tutorial and Totte's rebuttal (I guess his came first so yours is the rebuttal?) ;-)

Seeing a lot of really good renders so far, I like them. Some good plots, jokes, and hints of an Office Space fax machine scene there, lol.

I did my self the favor of removing duplicates and stuff that was redundant (colors for whatever, Wilmap texture sets, TOS violating body parts, etc). was I not supposed to pull that stuff from my list? Now that list is no good as I got around a hundred and nine more products, lol.

I think I now have as many things from Daz3D (scenes, props, and figures), as I have Wilmap outfits, lol.

MorganRLewis #02 : Nice, is he planing to shoot the gangster Groundhog? I love the Edwardian Casual Suit for D3, used it a lot on Genesis.
tag:luci45#4 : Holy Cow! (pun intended), does it milk rainbow milk? Love it as usual!
Chickenman #1: Welcome to the madness, and a good start!

    Pull #6
    #2832 Lilith 6 Pro Bundle (19329)
    - Lilith 6
    - Meridiana
    - Dark Heart for Genesis 2 Female(s)
    - Leris Outfit for Genesis 2 Female(s)
    - Desideria Hair
    - Leisure Time for Lilith 6
    - Letizia for Lilith 6
    - Lilim Outfit for Genesis 2 Female(s)
    - Mistress Lilith for Genesis 2 Female(s)
    - Francesca Dress for Genesis 2 Female(s)
    - Char Hair for Genesis 2 Female(s)
    - Lustrous Hair
    - Seductress Poses for Lilith 6
    - Genesis 2 Female Genitalia (I’ll do a Luci with this one)
#817 Advanced Wood And Metal Shaders Bundle (19024)
    #1480 Country Cottage (3643)
    #3153 MillenniumDragon2 (3164)
(LB Pull) #4064 The Fabricator (13705)

Two shaders and a new huge bundle, and an old dragon and a house, this will be weird and fun! I think I might score some hate points with a political faction here at home with the render I'm planning. Will be hard to make TOS a compliant render with that bundle even without the Lucified item....

Thank you! I'd initially just envisioned it as a gag panel, but yeah, after it was done, I took a look at it and saw how there could be a few different ways to look at it. I'll just chalk that up to serendipity. :)

Nice, is he planing to shoot the gangster Groundhog? I love the Edwardian Casual Suit for D3, used it a lot on Genesis.

I had it planned as him just moping, thinking he's "tough" while sitting in his old playroom. I agree, the ECS has a real nice look to it. I need to use it a bit more.

Thanks also diomede64 for your comment.

luci45 #4: That's a colorful critter. The blending of familiar and alien really works for making it clear this is a human settlement on an alien world.

    Chickenman #1: Welcome! Funny image.

    ***
    And now for Pull #3:

    V4 Elite Body Shapes
    Indoor Pool (inLite Studio)
    Industrial Chamber
    Mystical Sorceress Poses for V4

Going to have to think about this. Have to admit it doesn't readily suggest anything.
