Okay, unless the snow buries me ( And it's giving it a good try right now) this is the direction I'm leaning toward. I figured I could go a little fancier with the Captain. I'm also considering taking the combadge and changing the color of the sections behind the delta shield to represent the ship's sections. I'm also going with the collar pips- being oval instead of round, they kind of foreshadow the ones to come.
These would be for Prologue One. Prologue Two is set 15 years later, so I need a whole 'nother look for that. I'm considering jrvilmur's explorer outfits for that, but I haven't come up with a color scheme yet.

I will definately use that name. I always want to give credit where it's definitely due.

I am trying to use my stage name for this stuff :)

Also I am doing a fast render of an idea using the v4 explorer, it probably isn't perfect but might give you a starting point. will post it shortly.

MD this is using the explorer v4 as a base, like i said probably not perfect but the shirt main body and piping is dept coloring, the collar can be white tan black or anything else.. maybe even hidden.

I hadn't even thought about changing the color of the collar ( Say that five times fast! LOL!) Like how you did the pants. But I want to hold off on the red and black- that's very identified with NG and while I'm moving closer, we won't see those specific uniforms. Prologue Two takes place 10 years before the TV series starts. Being Nova Trek, I can hedge things a little- like I've already done. But I still want the journey from point "A" to point "B" to be believable. Although, now that I think about it, Your idea would do that...

I will not say anythign about collars any number of times at any speed... i'd probably end up biting my lip or something.

According to memory alpha, the WOK era unis used whit to denote command, yellow for engineering, green for sciences/medical...
so maybe play with those as the main shirt color... but i wouldn't use white for command. but that's just me :)

    that looks nice.

I'd consider adding some kind of detail that shows the department color, though. Then you could expand on that for the next iteration that would come before the TNG look.

I'm thinking of doing dept colors with the combadge- the sections behind the delta shield. I'm also giving very serious thought to going with jrvilmur's idea for the Explorer color scheme. That would introduce the red and black without going completely Next Gen- and I like the idea of that white collar.

That is a nice look. You could do the collars in the department colors, maybe even add a sleeve stripe at the wrist.

I did the sleeve stripe in Books 8-10. Those were my version of the movie-era.

How many projects do you work on at a time? Not criticizing, just wondering. If I tried to "multi-task", I'd loose track of what was where.

Lots and lots, and yes I'm A.D.D and things sit for a bit, like my 3 DS9 stuff :)

Okay, here's Captain Tamera Kirk in the Prologue Two Uniform. This is the V3 Ultra Catsuit- and I've never seen so many material zones in one outfit in my life! Since Tam appears in these last 2 stories, I needed a V3 version of jrvilmur's uniform idea.

I got lucky with the suit. The material zones break just where I needed them to.

Sometimes its better to be lucky than good.... not only that i have noticed that having to "make" something work often nets the best results. art thrives on limitations :)
