Looks cute. You should put together an entry for the monthly freebie challenge over in the General Freepository forum. This month's challenge is the annual Monster Mash.

    My latest render!

Alyssa and her friends get invited over for a round of Monsters & Mayhem! Renee is far more into the game than anyone anticipated, and is currently screaming at her dice for a better roll.

(Ok, well I really need some help here, there's some shiny weirdness going on whenever a person touches the floor, DMs butt, dice-girls knees, lamia's arm and skirt, and I've been trying like crazy to figure out how to fix that, outside of postwork! Does anyone know what might be causing it or even what I need to tell you so that you might know? I used AoA's advanced spotlight and advanced ambient lights to do this, thats all i know. Thanks for the help!)

If you have the figures set to collide with the floor via a smoothing modifier and collision, that is probably the mesh of the figures itself being distorted and flattened by the mesh of the floor where it collides with it.

The figures dont collide with anything, and the clothes only collide with the figures theyre on, no collision with the floor at all. Thanks for the advice!

I'm getting lax in my updates here lol. Might as well start catching up! I present to you: Demon Cat!

Alyssa has her very first encounter with a cat at her best friend's house and she is not impressed! Especially since the cat is infatuated with her tail! Her best friend can't help but laugh at Alyssa's overreaction.

Looks good so far. The sword does need to have some metal shaders applied to it however.

Thanks! I didnt add textures to the sword because it was a prepackaged prop and I didnt bother to screw with it, but I will see what I can do! Glad that you caught that, I didnt even think of that.

Try using the Chrome shaders from the free Ultimate]Ultimate Shader Pack.

Not bad, but I can't really tell if that's the reflections of the surrounding area in the metal or the actual color of the metal.

its the actual color. i tried a few different ones, but they looked too new i guess, i liked this more rusty type of blade :P think i should try others?

Absolutely. It doesn't look like metal. It looks like it was painted in camouflage colors, not something typically done with swords, particularly the edge. The shader pack in the link I gave you has both Chrome shaders and "Fast" metal shaders, depending upon whether a mirror finish is preferred or not.

These three pictures are some examples of the Chrome Shaders and Fast Metal shaderrs from the Ultimate Shader Pack:

    BFG

    Just Like Daddy

    Engine Trouble

For the record, the Chrome shaders do have built in reflection maps, but I typically remove them so that you get actual reflections of the surroundings. Reflection maps are really only good for pictures without any environment to reflect in the surface. This means, for the " Gold" and "Brass" chrome shaders, you'd need to alter the color in the reflection channel.

Very nice work, look forward to following this thread and seeing how your project progresses! I like the image of the porch. Reminds me of a place I lived a few decades ago.

Hi! New artist here, looking for feedback on anything at all, from lighting to posing to content. Just wanna get better and make really cool stuff like I see a lot of you people doing! So much of it's amazing and I wish I could, so here's my first real submission. Thanks in advance for any insight you may have on my work!

Precisgirl, I just found your Deviantart account. I'm brand new too, but your work so far is stunning! Hopefully in 3 months I'll be able to boast the kind of talent you displayed. I watched you on there, and just wanted to introduce myself and to let you know to keep up the great work! I can't wait to see the finished product.

Wow thanks cleveret! I love the attention :red: I don't think I'm all that good, but I got the cutesy fun stuff down to a T  but this Warrior picture is a better test of my talents, cuz I cant rely on the cute stuff to save my tail!

Got my newest render up, I tested a number of different metals for the sword, didn't like them, this one looks a bit better, but maybe the reflection's too high? Ugh, its so hard to test stuff when it takes 30+ minutes to render :shut:

The best way to test just a part of a scene (such as your sword blade) is through spot renders. However, personally, I like the sword blade. If you want more of a "brushed steel" look, try one of the Fast Metals (such as Stainless Steel, Industrial Steel, or Polished Silver) instead of the chrome metals.

    A quick question:

Which of the Chrome metals did you choose for the sword blade?

actually I used a product called Tarnished and Polished Shaders, i used the one called White and Black, i think. I tried using the free ones, but they were way too shiny, and it just didnt look right to me. Using the Fast Metals, basically gave me a nearly pure black blade with almost no texture, and when I used a lighter metal it was back to looking like it was before i put a shader on it lol. And I do use spot renders, but its just not big enough to see the detail. Now that I think about it, a secondary camera with a closeup of the blade spot rendered might work. im an idiot :red:

Using the Fast Metals should not have given you a black blade unless you were using one the the Black metals, such as Bismuth, Cast Iron, or Tungsten Carbide. As for them being "too shiny", that's what you want. The shinier the better. A properly maintained sword blade was kept highly polished, often to a mirror finish. In the case of the katana, for example, this was most certainly the case. Thus, you want a near mirror finish to your blade. The more reflectivity, the better.

Alyssa and her friends are having a sleepover and the girls have ambushed Alyssa for a makeover!

(On a side note, the desk appears to be transparent and for the life of me, I can't figure out how to fix it! If anyone has any ideas, please let me know!)

(On a secondary side note, Happy New Year to y'all!)

Well, I made a new render, but technically is unacceptable to post here. So I just wanted to let y'all know, and here's the link to the picture on my deviantart account.

I checked the rules and (though I might have missed it) I didn't see anything about linking to a picture. Let me know if that's unacceptable and I'll delete the post! Thanks! Hope y'all enjoy!

Continuation of the link I posted here earlier. Again, can't actually post it here, so here's the link. It's flagged as mature so you need a deviantart account to view it. Sorry.

Finally, a picture i can post, again!

Syrissa escaped -barely- into the sewers, with the mob hot on her tail. She managed to get the giant door open and she spotted an opening in a pile of empty drums. She squeezed herself into the hole, twisting her body like an acrobat to get her whole body inside. Her heart pounded, she was terrified that she wouldn't make it in time. She finally got her tail in, and she closed her eyes and waited, trying to calm herself down. She saw the whole mob rush by her, and they fanned out, looking for her. The boy with the red box came last, looking sad and lost. He had a black eye as well. He tried to talk the people out of their irrational hatred, but the boy he talked to shoved him against a pillar, yelling. Syrissa hugged her tail in absolute terror as a woman came close to her hiding spot. Then the man with the weapon came close. She squeezed herself in tighter, trying to make herself smaller. Still, for all her terror, she had eyes only for the boy, the one who looked so out of place. They all left, after some grumbling.
