Ok, she's really a hodgepodge of different things! V4, Reciecup's "Isis" head morph, Damage Inc.'s Queen of the Nile skin, RM Real Eyes, Out of Touch's Top Model Lip Morphs.

No,no,no,no. I only provide the tool, the artist is the one who has most of the "blame" :)

Like in everything, the passion that one artist pours in the work is what makes the difference. You could buy thousands of dollars in 3D tools and not get anything good from them if you don't spend the time to care for your work.

It's obvious that you have cared for the materials, the lighting and the pose, among other things. That's why the image works.

    Cheers.

...speaking of shaders, what exactly are the ASCEL Shader update emails? Are they just announcements of updates already applied or something we need to go to the site and download (I have all of them archived)?

Whenever a Reality artist makes ACSEL shaders that he/she shared the server sends emails to the Reality users to let them know that the shader is available.
If you want to download it you can go in the ACSEL Share tab of Reality and install it.

    Hope this helps.

Glass and Ring by wcngai This image can be found in the official Reality-plugin Gallery on Deviantart

This is a fantastic image on how Reality handles glass and metal. The ring is set to metal gold and silver with the green stones set to glass - Emerald. Wcngai stated this effect was stopped at 4560spx.

Don't know why my sub keeps getting turned off. I can't wait for the new forums. So tired of this auto switch that DAZ has on as default.

    Great renders everyone.

O.K., this is another one I did last year (much bigger, of course) to have printed for my grandson. He really liked it and it shut up certain family members who kept asking why I was doing something you can't "do" anything with. They don't know what hobby means, yet.

Very nice!! Isn't fun to see your work up on a wall? I have several canvas's done with my own work. One found it's way into my husband's office. :)

I have the same. It seems that, if you login and leave the tab open it lasts longer.

Here are a couple of my Noir style images over in my DAZ Gallery.

    Smoking Gun
    Femme Film Noir Fatale

The cool thing is you can set your film to B&W in LuxRender, and 'see' what you're getting instead of trying to see it with color interfering. B&W photography is really hard due to this. Lux takes that pain out of it. :)

    ...you're welcome.

Not so much into photorealism for the sake of looking photo real as I am to getting high quality results like you did in these. They almost look like individual frames from a B & W film.

Thanks Paolo! Unfortunately, dark renders get 'blacked out' on this white background. One really needs to click the image to view full size to see the darker details.

    Hello!

I also atarted re-using Reality/Lux now. I have used it some time before, so I know how things work this way.

But now I have a problem. Rendering in Lux has become very very slow. And I mean unusually slow. Please read:

When I used Reality/Lux some time ago, I had a DualCore CPU and 4 GB RAM. But it was possible to render a simple scene (one figure with clothes and hair, one prop, one light) in a normal period of time. Rendering in Lux up to about 1500 s/p took about two hours.

Now I have a I7 QuadCore CPU and 16 GB RAM. When I set up a comparable simple scene and let it render in Lux, I get about 50 s/p after half an hour !?! Can this be normal? I think something is not working correctly here.

The only difference is that in the DualCore days used Genesis/V5 figures, and now I am using Genesis 2/V6. Can it be that Luxrender does not like the recent generation 6 textures and all the Subsurface stuff included? Is there another thing I can try?

It can´t be normal that Lux is so slow on a modern PC, and was faster on an older PC.

I find little render time difference between Genesis and Genesis 2 figures. When I upgraded to an i7, the render speeds increased by what I expected. It must be something else. You might try rendering one of your old scenes to see if they are slower now. If so, something is set wrong with the software. If they render faster, is it possible that your scene has something else slowing things down? Or perhaps a light. Are you by any chance using the 'Sun'? It's really really really slow to render. The same effect can be accomplished with a mesh light, other than its built in 'sky effect'.
