@vwrangler @barbult Ah, thanks for that explanation. I loaded the jacket on her using both the wearable and the wardrobe and neither worked.
I just got loads of stuff, so today I am testing.
First up is Tori HD for Genesis 8 Female In the past, I have had trouble getting clothes to fit young characters like this. I was hoping that now that I had the Growing up product, the smoothing morph that comes with it would help clothes to fit other young characters like Tori. But the smoothing morph didn't help enough to make the first dress I loaded usable.
After some experimenting, however, I found that if you load Tori as a figure, dial out her body, and dial in breasts gone, her height and proportions remain the same and the dress fits better. Not every piece of clothing I tried on her was distorted, and some distortion was helped by dforce, but this dialing out her body and dialing in breasts gone method really helped at times. Her legs are skinnier and her hips are more narrow with the body morph, but that can be re-added by using other morphs.
Overall, her morph does not distort clothes as badly as some other young characters. She comes with mole, blush, eyeshadow, and freckles LIE options. Most of her makeup options are subtle, but I'm not sure if I'll actually use them. She also includes some nice specular and translucency options.

Are you sure the default eyebrows aren't painted on the texture, so you have to use the no-brows mat and apply the included separate fiber brows yourself (or apply them on top of the painted ones)? I've seen that with other characters, e.g. RY Rika where the fiber brows are applied on top of the painted ones (no no-brows mat included). See video here, where I toggle the fiber brows visible/invisible.

LIL-Shantrea is a mess. I have no idea how this got through QA unless they literally just looked at her from the front view and that's it... Which actually wouldn't surprise me. Check out these texture issues! Edit: you can't really see the seams unless you look in iray mode... I guess QA is not doing that. They should start!
(sorry about the bad outfit, but I have a lot of products to get through tonight)
I'll be returning her.
I don't have any eyebrows included, other than the default loaded materials. That's what I was looking for, because with so many nice material options to color the brows, I was wondering what to apply that to. :( So you're saying you have fibermesh brows in yours?
Don't have Aiya, but often the included fiber brows are located in the Anatomy category, so look there.
Only three minutes left on the flash sale, almost didn't see it.
@certaintree38 I'm seeing the same, in DS 4.15.0.2, but it looks OK in 4.10 as shown here.
I suspect it's related to the CB Isabella issue.
Taoz Ah. That makes sense. Thanks.
Does anyone know if those vendors use the forums? I need all the bootylicious girls I can get, but I refuse to wait for Daz's tech support. I no longer have previous versions of Daz working on my computer either, so using one of those isn't an option for me.
@SpookieLilOne does - https://www.daz3d.com/forums/profile/1133732/SpookieLilOne
Whether or not she answers PMs, I don't know.
I don't think that Hotlilme74 does, though.
Shantrea has been out long enough that you'd think that tickets have had to be filed No way to tell if they were notified about the issues, though.
I reported this strange character discoloration issue with characters by Silver (who later changed her vendor name to Jessaii) in 2018. Nothing was fixed. The characters are still sold in the store. So, I don't by from that PA now.
Request #287924
Some Genesis 3 Characters by Silver do not render correctly in DS 4.11.0.236
December 19, 2018 20:48
Today I tried to render two Genesis 3 Males (both created by Silver) in DS 4.11.0.236. Neither character rendered correctly. Both render correctly in DS 4.10. The two characters I tried were Isaac for Darius 7 and Corbin for Lucian 7. The problem has something to do with normal maps. If I turn Normal Maps OFF, the character renders without the abnormalities, but of course I lose the normal map details. I am attaching renders so you can see what is happening. I also attached the scene files, to make it easy for you to see exactly how I have render settings configured, etc.
barbult Thank you for that tidbit. I will try to render Shantrea without her normals in case that helps.
vwrangler Thank you. I sent them a message. Fingers crossed.
You can also do what I did with Cynder Blue- put the @ and their name in the post so it gives an additional avenue for them to perhaps spot it. I still remember Faveral responding in about ten minutes, and Lynoness was another quick responder.
Hey congrats to @gordig for being featured/winning the PC Inspirations Contest with a great looking render called "Wolfgang Amadeus Centaur." And yes it's what it sounds like. Very clever and nicely rendered. Kudos!
I was never informed there are issues. I am at work right now but I will look into this, this evening if I do not work OT.
I can confirm that zeroing the Skin Normal Maps for Lil-Shantrea fixes the problem.
This is the part of the decline in Daz support that I absolutely do not understand. PAs are perfectly willing to fix issues when they know about them. But the one thing we've been hearing consistently lately is that they're simply not being told.
Huh. I think I must not have rendered Isaac for a long time; I never noticed those issues. Very present now, though.
And when I replace his normal maps with later ones -- he's Base Male UV, so almost anything in G8 or G3 will work -- of course the issue goes away.
Just out of curiosity, is the ticket still open? (And now I'm wondering if she was ever told, either. I wonder how much Daz just not telling PAs about issues is costing the PAs -- and Daz itself, since people refusing to buy from particular PAs is lost sales and lost broker fees.)
I decided not to give up as Pudgy is so adorable. I read in The Commons about changing the PR Interpolation Segment Length to 1.00 from 0.10 and it worked. I'm still using 4.11 on a 7 year old MAC and it rendered really fast. Yay! I think the product should have that part changed going forward as it seems to be a problem for a few people. I'm going to cancel my request for a refund and suggest the change (not that I expect them to do anything).
Daz customer service closed the ticket and marked it "Solved" about a month ago, without sending me any notification. I noticed that it was marked solvedin "My Activities", so I replied:
So customer service said they will tell QA that it is still a problem. That was on July 15, 2021, about a month and a half ago. No response to the ticket since then. I have no idea whether the PA was ever informed of the problem.
Hi @Novica,
I had seen someone report this problem recently but when I did a search I couldn't find the thread, but I found one from 2018 that had the source of the problem, it is not the clothes, but a custom character build and auto-fit, and a solution that works. Add a smoothing modifier and adjust as needed. I had made a mental note of the thread because I have some tops/jackets that have given me fits in the past that I wanted to try out again. And of course, characters that are created after the point an outfit was, I expect wouldn't have pre-built adjustments. So this maybe a skill we all need to remember and use as a 'go to'.
Mary
Thank you!
Congratulations Gordig. Well deserved, it is a really great render.
But I wonder why only the weekly winners and not the monthly winners are featured in the newsletter.
Another currently discounted item: Witchykin Outfit is a very cute Goth look... but I´m having some trouble rendering it. There´s something about the material settings that´s weird.
It renders very quickly, but the "finished" render is still full of fireflies. This was when I used my usual set-up of max samples 15000 and quality 30.
The attached render looks fine but to achieve that I disabled quality and set max samples to a ridiculous 45000.
Did anybody else get this outfit, and is it rendering ok for you?
@Hylas maybe it's too dark, that tends to require longer render times? I gave it a try with different lights from Render Studio:
1, 2, 3 are with the same light setup with respectively 5000, 10.000 and 15.000 iterations.
4 and 5 are two different other lights, each with 15.000 iterations.
@hylas I've rendered it before and it did fine. Mine was also a daylight/dusk type render, not in dramatic light. I use Mitchell, quality 1 (we did tests and didn't see any difference when going up on quality, but that's been several years so I don't know if subsequent studio versions actually made it worthwhile.RGcincy helped me do testing for different settings, with some thin things like telephone wires and other items which were thicker.) My Pixel Filter Radius is 1.30 (the lower, the sharper, the default is 1.50) Noise Degrain Blur Difference is .12, Noise Degrain Filter and Radius are both 3. I set it for a lot of time and 99% Converged Ratio. Maybe try those settings with that same lighting and see if it makes a difference. :)
For those of you in Louisiana who aren't aware of Weather Tiger (mentored by famous Phil Gray from Colorado State) here's what he has to say:
"This forecast may yet be too low, and landfall at Category 3 or Category 4 intensity is a good bet. Time appears to be the only real limit on rapid intensification processes in the Gulf, once engaged on Saturday."
So expect IDA to roar to life like Hurricane Michael did (not that it will go Cat 5, but how fast it explodes.) Ida is going to go right over the Eddy Loop which is really hot water compared to the rest of the water. As a reminder, for the best tropical weather sites, here's what I use:
nhc.noaa.gov tropicaltidbits.com spaghettimodels.com
Since the center of Ida has formed, the models are really in agreement it will land west of Florida, primarily aiming at Louisiana. I am still reminded though that Sally was a Louisiana storm and turned the last three hours towards Florida. So all hands on deck in Mississippi, Alabama, and the to a much lesser extent, the Florida Panhandle.
Any of you in Louisiana along the Gulf?
May I recommend www.windy.com as well for weather? It lets you look at several models for predictions and has a whole bunch of data overlays to <s>play with</s>look at.
