...the only thing about birthdays that I look forward to anymore is the ability to qualify for senior's prices at stores and the cinema, SSI retirement, and cheaper bus fares.

I'm an earth Wolf too so I feel the earth and I'm Thankful to be on it (most of the time). I was never one for all the pomp and circumstance of the holidays. Even as a kid, it was bothersome to me. I know.. bah humbug but it's really not like that. I just don't care for all that stuff. I give gifts during the year "just because" or on birthdays, to LIVING people not some dude that was alive a zillion years ago. I'm sure "he" understands my stance! lol

Having been a professional grump for the last 20 years. I understand the lack of enthusiasm for pomp and circumstance. I think what got me started was the office birthday shepherd. You know, the perpetually smiling, over perfumed secretary who believes any birthday date in the office deserves a party and organizes cash collections for people's birthday gift, as if they had any idea what type of gift to get for the unlucky birthday person. And naively assumes birthday celebrations are universally desired. Irritating creatures they are! Go away, don't ask me to give cash for people I tolerate but may not like. And fie on you if you organize a restaurant waiter birthday serenade.

HAHAHA... right there with you. I'm rude enough to bow out of any and all things like that. I actually don't mind saying Happy Birthday, I think someones BDay is a good thing, means you made it another year but the rest of the "holidays" for the most part, even Halloween, have been blown SO far out of proportion and are not even remotely close to being observed as it was originally intended, makes me sick and sometimes I do get cranky!

I don't think I've read those Misty. I'll have to go look them up and see if it's something that interests me. I'm more of a Anne Rice fan and LOVED both of her Wolf books. YUM!

the forgotten realms iz very different from anne rice, wolf nomads aren't werewolves, they adopt wolf as companions.

adventures in tree, my cousin drove me to Target to buy a tree. a nice 6footer on sale, store had 2 left, one box had a hole in it, so i grabbed the one box without the hole. my 8 yo cousin offered to sleepover and help decorate, no fool i accepted help. got home, opened the box - one of the tree legs was missing. not to be defeated, we left one side of the tree unfluffed and leaned it against the wall. we put chocolate christmas balls and candycanes and lil bows. she had a clever idea to use some of the skirt fluff as lil snow bits on the tree.

didnt see flutterby lights at target

Need I say it? "Fake tree"... doesn't have a leg to stand on. 8-O

Which is perhaps better than "Dead tree standing in the house" 8-s

i need the kind of popcorn to string for christmas trees, don't know if jiffypop would work ?

Almost any 3 day old popcorn will work. Turns into little rubber lumps! (except maybe in the desert)

If you have a popcorn maker a bag of popcorn seeds and pop them plain would work the cheapest. No cheese or butter to upset the birds' tummy. Or is this for the indoor tree? I was thinking it was for the outdoor trees as birds would love that. Also rolling pine cones I. Peanut butter and bird seed will bring some cheer to the birds.

the squirrels living by me are getting very chubby. :) they like to eat the pumpkins.

i'm a lil worried the chocolate ornament balls will get melty. tree is near the baseboard heating,
wanted tree near a window, all 4 of my windows are over the baseboard heating.
