Where did LY Alysanne go? I can't find that morph in the shop. I may be blind though, so help me please.

No, I didn't, but a friend told me to check her out. It was in summer if I recall correctly. Now the search engine does not come up with anything relevant, following the link the mate sent me or checking Lyoness doesn't help either.

It seems not to be in the shop right now. That could be for one of several reasons...it is possible the artist has decided to retire the product, or sell it elsewhere, or pull it temporarily in order to sort out some issue.

Okay, thank you. I found it through Wayback Machine, by the way - and guess what: the promos still work. She's not the average 3D girl, I admit.

    Hi there.
Yes, you are right, I did retire her.
I was very unhappy with her skin texture and even though I like her body/face, I don't like selling a product that I know is sub-par.
I'm glad you were able to find her pictures. If you have more questions about her, feel free to post them here and I'll answer the best I can.

That's terrible news!!! Actually, I quite fell in love with that skin... Damn it. How can you say she is sub-par ? And the eyes... They're gorgeous. Do you really insist on vaulting her? I wish I had got the link earlier... I ended up envying those who got her immediately.

I don't understand vendors... I know artists can be fussy with their works sometimes, but Alysanne's such an exceptional character that removing her is a shame, believe me. If you don't want to sell her in the marketplace, it is your decision, but wouldn't it be possible to make her available in a different way? If you are really dissatisfied with her (which I still don't get, because the longer I look at her, the more I crave her - fine skin, stunning eyes and a not-your-average-3D-girl figure make her stand out) and this makes you not want to sell her, you could at least turn her into an awesome freebie - for instance for Christmas or something like that. Quite many vendors do such giveaways from time to time - P3D and Sabby I'm aware of - and I am sure they not only make the customers delighted, but they also help arouse more interest and boost sales.

I am so sad for not checking her out immediately when she came out... She must have done that during summer, which kind of makes me understand the reason: I was away from home in a place where connection's scarce, so I didn't pay so much attention to all the offers. My bad, but it's shame on me nonetheless :(.

May I suggest that you look at Sophie?
She also has a lovely plus sized figure. She is very curvy and rather pretty.
and BONUS, lots of dirty girl options.

NO. I hoped to pick her up - perhaps during a Christmas blowout sale. I am officially weeping ...

I wish you had posted a warning about them being retired, I could have picked them up knowing this. Ah, it's a sad day for me and my runtime. I think they are by no means sub-par to the rest, I'd even say they're my favourites (alongside Waverly).

The outfit is Barbarian for V4 from RDNA. I found more promos on some advertising sites, so I could share them here. If Lyoness doesn't have anything against that, of course.

Agreed, never understood removing a product once it was out there. if not happy with the product, strive to do better on the next one IMO.
Same for DAZ retiring products, strange to me..

Glad I'm not isolated. I understand somebody may grow dissatisfied with their work as they improve over time, but:
    - if DAZ staff take a product under their wing by brokering it, they must deem it worthy,
    - if the customers like it and crave it, the vendor should believe them more (we are all the harshest on ourselves, aren't we?),
    - if the vendor doesn't want to make customers see their particular work while shopping, instead of retiring it, making it a freebie is an excellent idea and a way to show how much this person cares for their customer base.

Just the way I see it though.

Except that if the vendor is not satisfied with a product, enough to retire it, they probably don't want it around at all, even for free...
After all freebbies are a part of a vendor's product collection and are often supposed to be samples of their work which will get people to buy the commercial products. Why would you want to advertise your work with something that you think is not good?

I see what you are saying, but a vendor should also consider, that if their product was good enough for DAZ to allow it in the store, then obviously the quality is there and there are going to be users that want/like that product regardless of any perceived flaws or dislikes on the vendors part.

I tend not to buy products from Aeon Soul because of their flaky remove a product or limited time product philosophy.

I bought Kennedy specifically because of her face. She's a very well done character, easily equal to the quality I've come to expect from Lyoness. In fact Ly is one of the few vendors that rate an automatic buy for me. And I am NOT in the habit of buying characters!

I have both characters, am rendering Kennedy just out of curiosity. She seems quite lovely in the viewport, even before rendering. While I respect the vendors not wanting their "best" out there, not everyone is going to do extreme closeup renders and pulling items that folks have wishlisted (because we just can't buy everything due to budgets, we have to work our way through) means that people get deprived of characters that are of good quality- not the "best" but will work just fine for many people. It was either Jack or Stonemason, I don't remember- but he let people know he was pulling products- and provided a list so people could get them if they wanted them.

On the other hand, as an artist, if something REALLY bugged me, I wouldn't want people stocking up on it. So I can see both sides.

Both of them did it, Novica, that I recall in recent history - Jack in the case of some of the older Redhouse stuff, and Stonemason cleared the bottom end of his catalogue at one point.

Another possible option in this particular case, is to make the morph available? if the skin texture "isn't up to standard", then why not at least let the body and face shape go out into the wild v(^_^)v.

Well, I perceive both characters as pretty and really above the average. They would spin your imagination and I'd do a lot to get them.

I think that - considering the thread I created got so hot in just a couple of hours - there is demand for the characters. I know many people who both sell and give away freebies. Many of the latter have descriptions like "formerly sold at XXX, retired as my newer stuff would be too competitive for this one and thus I'm giving it away for you guys to play with". And that's awesome.

I am worried, though, that if the characters won't be available anymore, the most desperate wanted-to-be customers may either consider pestering Lyoness through PMs or even search for the morphs on the Web... Choose which one is worse. Asking friends who have them can also occur and this can lead to making them cross (the asking one: he/she is so mean to keep those shinies for himself/herself; the asked one: I wish I could help him/her, damn...).

And Lyoness should be proud that so many people really, really like even her first characters. I'm going to get a different character in the meantime, but I have already got Olympia, which - apart from morph kits - is the most pear-shaped and full-figured character I have for Gen2F, so I have little choice with Alysanne "stolen" from the shop.

Stonemason usually gives at least 2 weeks notice when culling products and sometimes puts the items to be culled on sale as well. That way a buyer has a reasonable chance of purchasing an item before it is pulled.

Here's a couple of renders of Kennedy, one with another randomly selected character for a comparison, both G1, and one of the V4 version. If I should complain about anything it would be the V4 version which has some rather dull eyes and slightly distorted armpits (more than the default V4), but otherwise I don't see anything wrong.

I have most of Lyoness's characters including both Alysanne and Kennedy. The Lyoness character most similar to Alysanne is LY Sophie. The render below is Alysanne (black bikini) and Sophie (red bikini). The figure is not identical, but I imagine with a little morph adjustment you could get it very close.

As a close personal friend of Lyoness, I can tell you she has been working very hard to constantly grow and improve as a texture artist. She did not feel that Alysanne and Kennedy were up to the standards that she sets for herself and prefers that they not stay on the market as a representative of her skills. She certainly didn't mean to alienate anyone or disappoint her customers. I know that this recent response to retiring the characters is a real surprise to her. I don't think she anticipated this much disappointment, or any for that matter. But she is always working and constantly comes up with fresh ideas to bring everyone some truly unique characters. This was meant to be a good thing, and I hope you all can see that she did what she thought was best.

Way to make everyone happy: Update the textures on those two and put them back on the market with either an update or a coupon for previous buyers.
