I can't tell you what they want but I can state, unequivocally, that they do not want a new ironing board cover. My 10 year old self found that one out...
Oh, a Mother's day sale, this could be cute and--
*Sees lingerie bundle*
*Sadistic imagination forces him to visualize giving lingerie to his mother*
*Projectile vomit currently in process. Will finish post later.*
Great thread...
Because there's nothing better to see than a mother - being given lingerie by her CHILDREN for Mother's Day - proudly parading around the house modeling it for them.
(Smell that? That's sarcasm.)
..Joe
If my daughter dared to give me a gift of lingerie - well, none of us would have a good day.
DAZ - hollow brains in advertising.
I think a better topic would be suggesting assets which you do think would suit mothersday. And I can already tell you, that there won't be a single suggestion that everybody agrees with.
Hey, I gave my mother a low stool she can sit on while gardening. I'm sure some people would think that a ridiculous gift, possibly because their mothers live on a twelfth floor appartment or an elderly home and doesn't even have a garden.
Kitchen apparatusses? I can guarantee some people would think that mysogenistic or whatever. Or maybe their mom can't cook and has to be kept as far away from the kitchen as possible for the health of everybody around (and because the firebrigade banned her from being near even an electrical stove)
Daz might as well not do some mothersday sale at all and ignore it. Wait, what?! That would definitely result in complaints as well.
So, if you don't like whatever's in the sale, well ignore it. Or at least try to be somewhat constructive in your critiques, though that's near impossible to do these days without starting a war.
I don't think that's warranted, there have been plenty of good suggestions in the thread: childish arts and crafts, books, messy cooking, greeting cards, flowers... It's not so much about representing an ideal of motherhood (which may be controversial) but about what the product of said motherhood would do to celebrate their parental unit. Our complaints are (mostly) not about politics, but common sense and a modicum of good taste.
I think it's common for mothers to get flowers, jewelry, food, acts of service, and useful items for Mother's day. Only the useful items (in the cleaning or cooking departments) could be seen as misogynistic or controversial. Sure, your mother may not want food, but it'd be unreasonable to argue that such an offer is a bad idea for others. But lingerie for mother's day could definitely be seen as off-putting: most people don't want to imagine Mom having sex. Additionally, I don't think most actual mothers want to try to be sexy on this day, since the theme of the day is all about thier relationship with their children, and being recognized for everything they have already done. The whole idea is for mom to take it easy and be appreciated, in whatever form she's in. The idea that mom would want to put in extra effort to seduce someone when that someone should be making her feel comfortable and cherished and perfect as-is, is just... well... inaccurate, to say it nicely.
So I don't think people are being crazy when they say that they want to see more traditional and relevant products in a bundle released on a fairly major holiday. There are actually non-controversial, less off-putting, less potentially offensive items that could have been chosen instead.
Personally? I will not get upset if this doesn't happen. Daz not following all the holiday trends is not a deal breaker for me. But I do understand how lingerie for Mother's day might bother people.
I made mom a Lemon Upside-down cake, which turned out well and Cottage Pie.. In addition, I bought her a book with flower fairy pictures, since Mom likes fairies. On the practical side, I installed a phone for hearing loss since she complains sometimes she cannot hear people when they call on the phone. It has an auditory boost, and tone adjust feature, and can playback louder than a regular line, as well as having quick buttons she can use to call people.
Spirits and libations are often well-received
I wonder how many fathers among Daz customers would be happy with the lingerie pack for Father's Day?
People would complain that Daz didn't release content for G8M on a day supposed to be about guys.
I think the female versions will autofit.
Even the female clothing here is rather full coverage (grandma bra) with the requirements for b00b coverage, sometimes shoulder coverage.
Naughty male and female outfits, I tend to go to the other store, although there are exceptions.
They will, and I've got a whole stockpile of G2F fantasy outfits that are basically panties fit to G2M (plus stuff for G3 and G8), but ruffles, frills, etc. will end up really deformed when you dial in bulge morphs. Those are kinda necessary when it comes to garments like that, especially for things that have been autofit, unless you're really going for the Ken doll look.
I would pay good money for attractive silk, satin, and lace lingerie designed for male figures, that came with morphs that accounted for that sort of thing and compensated for any distortion of the decorative bits. Give me a Father's Day bundle of sexy lingerie for G8M, including some nice stockings and heels, and I'll consider calling things even for what happened yesterday. Even better if that sort of thing were just released as an everyday purchase rather than tied to holidays and events.
Yes, very good point!
Well... I do like dzheng's stuff over at the other store. It's not so much lace as it is leather and whatnot, with a number of exceptions.
YES! Welcome to the Quest 2 club! That alone got me through the pandemic! Check out AltspaceVR. It’s a great social app FULL OF CREATORS! You can make worlds there with their assets or import ones made with Unity. I made two cool art galleries there, one an outdoor sci-fi one with a waterfall, a stargate, a bar with drinks you can pick up and I blew up images of my art super huge, like 6-10 feet or bigger!
Burning Man has cool events there and will be doing a VR version of Burning Man. You can meet people from all over the world, and like 8 out of 10 of the people I meet are creators. It feels so real, you almost forget you are in a world of cartoony avatars!
Happy Mother's Day!

some luxury spa stuff

I saw it and it was very weird, like freeze staring at the screen for a few seconds weird
I thought it was going to be different hairs and outfits moms usually wear and settings
I'm pretty sure we all got it. I think @PerttiA meant the pretty female underwear will autofit to male characters. And as was also mentioned, doing that might require a little finesse.
But then you have to ask yourself what would sell better.
A bunch of mumsy outfits or lingerie?
Generally stuff on the day of the holiday is a bit useless as you don't get to render much on the day itself. Should have "mothers day" items a month before. Same with everything.
I think the thing is it's a little tone-deaf to have a sale on Mother's Day that basically underlines and re-enforces what many people often accuse DAZ of, which is, to put it lightly... leaning a bit towards objectifying women...
It's kinda like... "No way, bro, we don't do that, it's just what our vendors have found sells the best, and they are the ones who create the stuff... but while we are on the subject, on the one day, it would make the most sense for us, who actually control what's in a sale and to have that sale feature stuff that most people traditionally associate with Mother's Day, you know, stuff like flowers, tasty treats, spa like sets, jewelry, mother/child poses, we are going consciously choose to ignore all that as well as common sense and have a sale on lingerie and skimp-wear, the exact opposite of what most people associate with Mother's Day, which many might deem inappropriate or dumb and confirming of what we are often criticized for... so yeah... yah wanna buy a thong? Moms love them!"
You might not control what the vendors make, nor what people buy, but for cryin' out loud, don't set yourselves up for criticism by doing something this lame... you have control of what to put on sale and you do have plenty of items that could align with what people traditionally associate with as being Mother's Day gifts or could be used in a render that celebrates mother's and their day which you could put on sale... but no, you chose to make it look like a bunch of horny frat boys made the decisions here.
I don't actually think anyone at DAZ who makes decisions about stuff like this will ever read what I or anyone here wrote, because in all my years here I've learned one thing... They are gonna do what they are gonna do and customers opinions mean nothing.
But likewise, I'm gonna write what I'm gonna write and the lack of interest in said opinions mean nothing to me.
will fathers day see a speedos bundle?
That's a Father's Day gift for you. My best play is just to get a GC and use it without showing anyone how I spend it.
I'm sure because the site is geared for men, it will be proper dad bods and bbq items. Hopefully everybody can hear the sigh from my side of the internet.
If it's not entirely ignored, it will probably be more ladies underpants. Because reasons.
I was honestly surprised to find the dearth of brief-style swimwear for men in my library when I needed it recently. Far too many swimming shorts, not enough swimming briefs.
