Are you too seeing M6 for $10?

I don't want to take unfair advantage, thus I'm asking. Did anyone get an offer of M6 being discounted to ten bucks? I'm adding a screenshot.

Yup, I saw the same thing after I checked out with today's freebie.

Why do you think it would be taking unfair advantage? Were you concerned the site had been hacked and it wasn't a legit offer?

DAZ admin's have said in the past that any glitches are okay to take advantage of, and I do so when they occur.

However, this looks legit to me, regardless. =-)

I'm not seeing that. Probably because I bought him earlier.

Yep, getting a base figure of the latest generation for ten bucks when you usually pay four times as much looked a bit fishy. And remember I saw some ads with M6 and V6 claiming they go for ONE DOLLAR. Of course, suspecting it could be malware, I never dared to click and see, I just reported it to DAZ.

she just wants to make sure DAZ does not miss out on too much of her munny

Wendy, you little teaser :D! I just want to stay on the safe side. With the proud history of IT specialists in my family (dating back to the times you could not remember when computers resembled fridges more than anything), you develop of special kind of paranoia urging you to be very suspicious on the Web ;). Besides, I like DAZ - no matter what you can say about the glitches of sales, the support is top-notch - and I don't want to milk them when they're not looking.

    A DISCLAIMER:

Getting nice discounts and freebies like the free V6 on her birthday is totally legitimate and very appreciated when DAZ says we can! So we'd better start preparing a calendar with all characters' birthdays marked in red, just in case.

DAZ admin's have said in the past that any glitches are okay to take advantage of, and I do so when they occur.

Great, I hoped it would turn out to be something intended. Okay, M6... Time to get to know each other better, I reckon.

I just went to the shop and looked up M6 and he's showing up as $39... I picked up the freebie and did not see the offer at checkout.
    Was it a PC offer?
Did one have to spend X amount to receive the offer?
    Limited time offer?
    I don't know...
If it is via the newsletters, I don't get some of them either...
Megh.... I miss the good stuff all the time.

Those are offers targeted to specific customers. Offers can be sent to people based on what they bought or haven't bought. Those offers will not work for those that they aren't targeted though.

    EDIT: This is stickied:

It will drop to $10 in cart - if you see a blue message under DAZ's logo. I'm not a PC member, so I miss out on many things, don't worry.

Still, if enough people express their would-be gratitude for the offer, DAZ may make it widely available (it happened with the free V6).

Maybe this is targeted at non-PC members. I just had to cancel, my membership expired two days ago, and I got the M6 offer. Maybe to show me what I'm missing out on with all the PC goodness. :)

I think M6 for $10 is much cheaper than with the PC discount.

Yep Im seeing this too. Although I am a bit tempted to get him I think I´ll pass and wait for a good discount for G2M morph pack first before I get any of the male characters : )

OK, so I bit. Put M6 in my cart and during checkout saw that he was indeed $10. Blew caution to the wind and prayed that my credit card wouldn't implode and have downloaded him.

Now, what do I do with him? I have a separate computer that I installed the latest version of Studio4 to. I don't trust or like the DIM so I always use the zips and install to the standard places. Only my little bit of Genesis content is on that machine (I do all my Michael4 work on my other machine that runs Studio3). Question is, do I need anything special to get M6 (my first G2) character to work? I've never even tried doing anything with Genesis2. I know DAZ has jumped through hoops to confuse us with all these variations on characters: i.e. Genesis androgenous-malefemale, M5, V5, G2 male, G2 female, M6, V6. Do I have to purchase anything else to get the basic Michael6 to work?

Actually I'd like to know that answer too... I kinda tuned out after the site change, having finally collected all the V4/M4 stuff that I wanted, then there was Genesis and I got some of that, but G2 came along and it was confusing so I just focused on model making...
I only started visiting the forums again recently (now that they seem stable), I missed a lot of stuff...
At the moment I'd like to at least get back to the equivalent of what was M4/V4 ++ morphs... If G2 has any equivalent...

I went ahead and made the purchase. i don't have any use for M6 since i rarely do male renders, but you never know and it is a nice gesture from DAZ, so thanks for that!

Not just seen, also bought, downloaded, installed and test-rendered. Nice! Makes an interesting difference from the plain G2M characters I have (all two of them). Now to start playing around with variations on a theme...

OK, apparently I have to also install the "Genesis2StarterEssentials" which were hidden in my account's "Product Library". Only about a Gigabyte of downloads. (*arghhhh*). I also discovered that sometime in the past I had downloaded Victoria6 but never got her to work. Probably because I never downloaded the gigabyte of essentials. (Oy!) And since I'm a cheapskate and never use female characters, she must have also been cheap or even free for me to even bother getting a female character which I will never use. Come to think of it I didn't pay much for a lot of characters. I got the original Freak free and sometime along the way I got a David free. But I've spent a boatload on morphs and architecture and clothes.

Looking at the people in this forum who were targetted it is very obvious why!!!
Old DAZ strategy that works so well
Give em the base free or at least very cheap and clothes etc shall follow into the cart later
all seem to be people using mostly M4 & V4 and there is a lovely catalogue of M6 products to be peddled to these newly eager to dress their latest aquisition souls not to mention skins morphs, utilities to convert to etc!!

Oh crap! I had a coupon for $4 that DAZ sent me a few days ago. Still got it. Double DOH!! :-( Guess I'll have to buy a morph.

Yeah, I did get M6 (and V6) to finally work after downloading the nearly 1GB of "essentials".

The "targeting" of the $10 M6 offer is not a PC thing. I haven't been a PC member for a couple years. Are we sure that it's a targeted offer? I didn't see the $10 price until I was ready to checkout.

...yeah, but with the Genesis platfom, there's also other built in s well as commercial tools available.

You can use any M5 clothing (or for that fact any Genesis "Classic" clothing) and skins.

Through GenX2 one can transfer morphs/characters from Gen4 and Gen5

With Growing Up for G2M you can make male kids/teens, and with the Free K4 UV from Slosh, you can also use K4 skins.

...and if you have the Mike4 clone you can transfer M4 skins/clothing as well.

Doesn't require a whole lot to make him useful.

...for me the 4$ coupon is more valuable as it is useable on anything (BTW, it also requires a minimum 20$ purchase) while the PC one is only good on DO items which Mike 6 is. I'm buggered about it as I usually have difficulty finding something I actually want, or need, that I can use the PC one on.

Hmmm, that sounds interesting. But..., I did a search of the catalog for "GenX2" and all I found was a few versions of a product that transfers generation 3 stuff (M3, D3, V3, etc.). What am I missing? Can you point to the specific product in the catalog for us? M3 and F3 and D3 were OK but even I, an old fuddy-duddy, have retired them in favor of M4 & F4.

    Edited to add:
Oops, never mind. Found it! All I had to do was carefully read the fineprint. Unfortunately it would implode my credit card at this time. :-(

...yeah I had the original so I received the 66% off upgrade discount which made it a little easier the G2 Add On was 30% off t the time. Had funds set aside for this for a long time.

Even so, three sets of M-6 clothing at regular price, and one would pretty much have both the plugin and add on paid for.

Buy it again, using the coupon, and then return the first purchase.

You should be able to request it back to your card. I've seen Mike suggest that to others before.

That's some rotten luck. I was literally just about to confirm the order when I remembered mine.

Thanks to DAZ I just got a brilliant and unexpected birthday present - M6 for $4! He's been wishlisted forever, so I couldn't resist. :)

Any followup on this question? Now that I have the basic M6 what type of augmentations are available now or in the near future? I did find the M6 "Swole", but what about things like separate muscle morphs, and the "++" type of adjustments that M4 has? Can G2 stuff work? Can G1 stuff work? Why am I so confused? How many angels can sit on the head of a pin? What happens when irresistible force meets immoveable object? If a tree falls in a forest...
