@IceDragonArt just Facegen and the dials. I only wish I had a copy of ZBrush and a bit faster computer.!
:)
Here is a render of a face that I was playing around with creating some custom tooth positioning and shaping. I think it gives a little life to the character.
Here is one that I was working on inspired by a Francois Barraud painting. Of interest is that when I am using the render for reference, it is easier to correct the details like the top of the skirt in the drawing as the render doesn't really matter so much to me. Made the mop BTW in Hexagon.
Here is a series with a sketchy block-in of the scene above drawn on an iPad.
I am not sure what I am doing lately, but the noise in my renders even after hours of rendering will not go away! I suppose in this case, it doesn't matter as much as I was doing a digital drawing of the scene. The drawing below is in progress. I need to correct a few things including the light in the back having three window panes.
One last random render. Liked the idea of holding something like an apple and cutting it. But alas, it is a turnip. I could work on the interaction a bit.
Here is one looking at the camera, but I am not satisfied with the expression. Will work on it. Again there are details like the hairband that ned to be worked out. That will be Photoshop post-work.
Great work! I love this thread! :-)
After seeing your post about the chainmail, I came up with the idea if it would be possible to create a normal map of rhinestones this way. I am looking to create a sparkling texture, like sequins. I'm asking myself if that would work...
@Ralph1958 Thank you. I just saw your note about not being able to reflect off sequins and such in your own thread. I didn’t realize this, never occurred to me, but I wish it were so. Just read another thread where people were trying to fake mirror bounces.
I realized yesterday that if I apply the regular aluminum metal iRay shader, it has some metalicity qualities that other shaders don’t. I also can apply that shader and then change th diffuse channel to my own surface texture. That in addition to techniques you suggested may work in creating metallic or reflective surfaces.
Here is some fipurther drawing I did based on the Daz render but drawing in Procreate on the iPad. I adjusted the vanishing point a bit using Procreate’s perspective grid.
@Rakuda - I will give a try as soon as get home. I tryed so many things but never got the result I was aspecting, always only "some kind of". Last night I tryed with a spot light and a black item with my own sequins material in a totally dark environment. With the spot light set on "point" the scene remains black. Setting the spot light on "rectangle 10x10" the sequins started to pop out. Setting it on 100x100" they popped out even more. But... the bigger the "rectangle" is, the smoother the shadows are getting on the floor and this is not what happens with a real Spot light, where the shadows remain sharp. Beside of this, depending on the sorrounding elements (like in a circus tent), such a big spot light does not always fit in the available space without poking trough other things. I also tryed the "disk" setting and this one is not emitting as much light as the rectangle does for whatever reason. In most of my renders there are many light emitting sources (planes), so the "sequin effect" is working kind of good, since there are a lot of surfaces to reflect, but I would like to do renders, like in a real show, from just a performer lit by strong spot lights and nothing else. And here is where I get stucked with no light reflections or with washed out shadows :-(
@Ralph1958 I am not sure about the lighting. I think a sharp bright light should be better in the case of sequins. I have seen what looked like some pretty quality sequin and metal shaders in the store recently. I keep meaning to try them myself.
Here is a random render of a garage and some characters. I have been working with, Unfortunately, I have been busier than I would like to be. Would like to be on here more working on things.
Whenever you get a chance to try out these shaders, please let me know the results. From the promo images they don't look like they are sparkling.
@Ralf1958 perhaps you might find the information on this link about creating a Sequins Shader of use. Seems like you just need a good normal map as some good metallic qualities. I applied a DS nickel reflective shader and just added the file shown in the link as the normal map and tiled it 25 times across the sheet.
Over there a user named "brn" says:
"Just gave the sequins thing a quick go. Heres the result with no real tricky stuff going on.Ive posted the normal map for you. Hope it helps.I Can do a web player if you want. You will have to wait just a short while for the shader though because the one I used is from my unreleased shader pack. Its the lowest spec free version though, only special thing it does is the Fresnel reflection."
Below is an image that I created with brn's normal map
Here is another render without the shimmery ground. I think it looks a bit like Priss from the first Bladerunner.
@Rakuda - Thank you, I will try if it works. :-)
I like what you did with the teeth in that top image. Definitely makes her more realistic. I see you can paint as well model! I love seeing works in progress. Great job on that. I've got nothing to add to sequin conversation though. No clue on my end
@IceDragonArt thank you. I think sometimes I like the painted or drawn images better. They have a certain organic quality. I would like to be able to achieve that with the renders but it takes a lot of experience, tools. etc that I don't have yet.
Here is a random render with some cars in a neighborhood. Just a render since I have been busy lately.
Working on pose sets again
And some more
A little bit more...
Here is an experiment placing a 360 deg panoramic .hdr image as the environment, placing the camera
at center and placing some 3D objects; for example cars in space.
One question is, the environmen hdr is not enough to cast shadows off my placed objects that match the
photo shadows. You can see the long shadow of the light post in front of the teal car? Any idea how to
mimic this with the cars and yet at the same time use the environment hdr file?
Random Renders. I don't think I shared these before:
Wind on the beach
Working on a set of Genesis2 Male poses
Model based on a recent drawing session/model named Violet. The image maps for the wings need a little bit of work.
Used parts of Peligrosa Outfit, Rocker Outfit , Vault Rustler, Trendy Accessories, Inked Vol.11: The Full Bodysuit
I just did a pretty rough job of hand drawing the wings.I would like to clean them up some more.
Rosehip Tea
Been busy I see!
For the shadows did you check to see if you have draw ground on?
Love the poses, they are very fluid!
Your fairy is lovely but for some reason I really love your Rose Hip Tea one.
@IceDragonArt Yes, very busy. I have found however stating goals is the wrong way to go, and instead just posting whatever I am working on and staying busy is a better thing. Been having fun lately. I am not sure which onee specifically you are asking about ground shadows? Thank you about the Roeship Tea. It has a certain something, doesn't it!
^__^
Here is another render du jour.
Toxic Spill
The ground shadows you had asked about on this one.
@IceDragonArt Yeah, Sonja, I had turned the draw ground on and manual, but I think the dome was just not enough to cast long shadows. Here is another experiment with placing cars.
The cars are a bit dim compared to the setting .hdr file. Not sure how to compensate for that.

Here is the same thing in a heavy downpour using Iray Rain
Random nonsense about nothing:
Maybe you don't have anything to say at a given moment, but that doesn't mean that you can't sketch
and throw together random conversational bits to practice comics. When you aren't practicing or coming
up with plot and dialogue, you can be practicing scene changes and interaction.
Someone, actually @barbult in the Product Suggestions Forum turned me onto a download of Songbirds which I was looking for, so I put together a render.
A Robin on a Fence
I asked someone to describe a scene from her head and this is loosely what I came up with based on her image
This is just an experiment in which I tried to emulate the lignting in an advertizing image for Coelux. This was surprisingly tricky and I did by using a primitive sphere as the sun node and experimentinig witht the position and sun settings.
