A few more random renders from the last month awol.
A few renders comparing a 3D figure scan with the Genesis8 figure. I tried to choose a similar outfit for comparison.
Notable areas of difference are as follows:
It makes an interesting comparison and hilights areas that would need adjustment in post-rendering in order to approximate reality.
Interesting study @Rakuda. Thanks for taking the time to post. For your next trick, how about a similar study with the G8 figure next to an actual picture of someone? Same methodology (trying to match clothing, lighting, pose, etc. as best as possible).
Overall, I think the G8 figure looks really good. I agree with what you were saying about the fatty tissues in the armpit area. The thing that stuck out most to me off the bat, though, is the translucency/SSS on the fingers, nose and ears (not that I'm comparing it to the scanned figure - just in general).
Anyway, good stuff. Please keep it coming - cheers!

@algovincian For comparison, a folded arms pose is especially challenging. There is a lot going on between the smoothing on the blouse and the crossing of the arms revealing enough of the hands and yet looking natural. I did not match the lighting of the source so much, but I could make an attempt.

Yeah the model's skin is thin and the folds in the armpit would require some dense geo. Maybe a denser geograft just in that area?

I do like using the scan for the ability to show in the same lighting in this render, but I do like the idea as suggested, of taking a photo as suggested and duplicating the lighting. Can try that as well.

Random Render of the day.
Just decided to see what I could assemble in a render for a few bucks
Started with The Room . Wanted to put some sort of figure in it. Went with Monster Classics - The Hunchback by @Rawart but unfortunately, that figure's morphs seem to no longer work. It didn't seem to matter if I installed in DIM or in Daz itself.
Was a little bummed. Usually don't buy morphs or anything at all for Genesis anymore, but I hoped. Looked like a fun character. At least the poses for the character worked.
Here is a render, alas, no hunch...
Looks like I need to do another render and adjust the wet texture decal used above
A scene from memory. I was out walking the dog at the park and the evening light shown down from under the trees casting a light on only a spot pf the grass below.
And for contrast a daylight render of the same scene.
Just some poses for G2F because why not!

They aren't perfect poses. Some were actually a bit of a challenge, but take them as they are. I make no guarantees.

#001 The Necromancer
I like this new character The Necromancer. Lots of character in his posture and features.
Looks like someone is doing some quality character building.
Here below is a comparison of the standard character with a render of the HD features setting.

The Fighter
Does anyone know of any 3d cloth fist wraps for bare-knuckle boxing? That would be good to put on his fists.

Abe!
Thanks for posting the resources used.

#004 Homeless Man with His Bike
A rough impression based on someone I passed on my way to work in the morning. I tried to approximate based on the image in my head.
Yeah @algovincian I was pleasantly surprised how much he looked like old Abe.

Render Resetting at 200 Iterations
I have this render and it keeps getting to around 200 render iterations and then starting over at iteration #1. It has done so several times taking about an hour each time. Can't figure it out, but it is extremely frustrating. Not sure if it happens with some assets and not others? Perhaps I am not meant to render the Lake Muirné set.
I have no lights in the setup, only an HDRi.
Never got it fully rendered. only got as far as 150 iterations
#005 Ultrascenery and Quick Iray Fog Presets
This is a great way to practice both custom posing and lighting setups. Where do the scans come from?
Honest Abe
Don't delete the attachment, that is what the inline version is referring to - you see it because there is a cached copy, but no one coming along later will see it.
@RichardHaseltine I think the system must have automatically deleted them. I didn't delete them. I probably should not have attached png files. I think they were too big. I re-uploaded jpg versions and that hopefully won't be deleted by the admins.

Thank you very much for the info.

#007 Opportunity
Zeus takes a moment to contemplate a culinary opportunity that is knocking.
Used The Forgotten Park by Oskarsson and Zeus The Cat (inactive)
I thought I would do another view from the cat's angle but little did I realize the structure of the facade would be visible.
Still... it conveys the idea.
