Filter Forge 10 Pro

RAMWolffRAMWolff Posts: 10,249

So I just purchased this through the portal here as the only upgrade path from 8 to 110 for me was a lifetime price of $150.00 (my discount for owning a previous version) so like many money is tight so that wasn't going to work for me. SO I purchased through here.  Not sure what's going to happen now.  Does the makers of the software then send me my license and download link?  Not showing up in my Product Library and no code in the Serial Numbers area.  Just need some info on this.

Thanks so much

Richard

You should download it from filter Forge's own website and wait for the email. They'll send you license numbers, so I guess ?!

Mine was under serial numbers. May need to get hold of the help desk if it doesn't come through.

Previous versions of filter forge that I have purchased through DAZ show up in my product library with manual download and the serial number is in my serial numbers. So, you may have to contact DAZ customer service

Purchased it, found the serial in my account but no available download. If they expect us to download the actual program from an external site that information should really be communicated, together with a proper link.

The Daz product web page says

    Install Types:

    • DazCentral Manual Install

    Is that not true then????

I've only ever purchased Filter Forge from their website, but if I recall correctly from previous questions like this, I'm pretty sure Charlie Judge and Ascania are right.
I'm going to make a mention of this at FF's forums, they are usually pretty good at addressing stuff like that, maybe they'll add info that will make this procedure clearer... They have actually taken my suggestions seriously in the past and edited confusing statements in their sales or website info... unlike a certain website we all love which often lets confusing information remain indefinitely.

On a side note, I probably use Filter Forge more than DS, so for me the lifetime upgrade was worth it, even though I only upgraded at a big discount (70%-80%)...
Enjoy FF 10, some of the new features are pretty cool, especially if you make your own filters.

Naw, the download link in the order just takes you to your library. Where the download isn't.

Well, I posted a comment about this at FF's website, hopefully I'll get a response or someone will amend the info on the store's product page to make this clearer.

Everything seems to say that, hence all the confusion when downloads were often missing and people thought it was a ploy to make them use Central.

    I will ask about downloads.

Thanks, Richard. I got a serial number OK, so it is just the download that needs to be resolved.

Same here. I want also a manual download for the product, because I don't want to use DAZ Central.

Daz Central is not an option - if you see a product that lists only Daz central as an available emthod then it doesn't have any downloads.

The lack of downloads is being investigated, I'm sorry it hasn't been fixed yet.

Yes, I understood. yes Daz has still not addressed the missing download problem, so your advice was very useful, and it worked.

The downloads issue is being looked at, but I think it's waiting on someone who may not have checked their emails yet this weekend.

Thank you.  So the serial number finally appeared in my account.  I'll use the provided link to get my product.  Seems odd that DAZ isn't allowing us to download directly from their servers!

OK, I'm going to spit fire here.  Why does DAZ format the serials so badly?  I had to get out my older serial to know if I was doing it right but it seems that the Customer Name, no matter what I try, is wrong!  FFS!  angry

Got it figured out but man what a PITA!

  • RAMWolffRAMWolff Posts: 10,249

And where is all this hidden:

    • NEW! Albedo, Height, Normal, Roughness, Metallic, Emission, and Occlusion channels

Normal is the only one I can find.  Seems there is some information that't not being explained like if these are areas of the filters that are now supporting these maps or if this program now generates these sorts of maps for doing texture work.  One of the main reasons I upgraded.  So this is disapointing!

...had the manual download option for ver 9.0 Pro.

Have you set the Filter Type to PBR in the Result Conponent's settings?

Select the result brick and you should be able to change the Filter type in the panel at lower-left

The render map options only appear if a particular filter employs those channels/options... otherwise you only see "Final" or "Normal" or whatever as the options.
Previously it was a list with all the options and whatever wasn't available was grayed-out.
With pre-made/existing/other people's filters you can access these maps options at the bottom of the screen... but once again, that depends on whether the filters have those maps... I have no idea why they moved it to the bottom (in 10) as it used to work fine located at the top, where it's been for years.

It confused the hell out of me at first because the filters I was using the first time I used 10, only had "final" but then I noticed a newer filter had the other map options.

I bought Filter Forge 10 Pro (WIN) around the 15th, but still have not been able to register it. (The serial number in my account throws out an error.) Support staff told me it was a known issue that they are working on and that it's Windows users that have this problem.

Does anyone else here also have this issue? I'm still just using the free trial version while I wait for it to get sorted, but it's taking rather long.
