I'm on Windows 10 and the instructions above worked fine for me.
Thanks @barbult, but unfortunately that didn't work for me.
I have the DAZ-customer-xxxx, but my serial number doesn't start with the FF100W... It's 76 characters long, which seems a bit crazy to me. Entering those gives me a "License name or key is too long error". (I initially downloaded Filter Forge here on daz, but now tried again through FF's website.)
Is there something I need to cut out or change to the formatting? I noticed that @RAMWolff mentioned some problem about how the serial numbers were formatted.
Thanks a lot @barbult. I thought there must be something wrong there. Off to customer service I go armed with this new bit of info. : )
76 characters long would be very odd, something has to be wrong with that.
My serial number is 36 characters, including the dashes between sections.
Well that settles it. There's definitely something wrong with what I got. I wrote to them again and I hope they fix it soon.
I've been testing things out with the trial version while waiting, but the dwindling "days left" is making me nervous... : )
You could try contacting Filter Forge support directly. Maybe with your Daz customer number that is on your Serial Numbers page and your Daz order confirmation proof of purchase, they could provide your valid serial number.
i have the same problem.
still waiting
I have found out the following
this serial number works with Filter Forge 4
Try it.
here is a link to filter forge 4
https://filterforge.com/download/Filter%20Forge%204%20Setup.exe
This is how I got it working
User Name: DAZ-customer-XXXXX
Serial: FF100W-MXXXM-PXX2G-PXX6A-MXXTS-6XXX2
Of course my serial number above is X'd out mostly but this is how I entered it into the two boxes
Barbult is right, I'd at least let them know of an issue.
This appears to be a DAZ problem, as it seems when you buy FF from DAZ you get a different sort of serial key than when you buy it from their website.
I'm not sure the folks at FF can help, but I'd definitely send them an email or post something about this on their forums as it's probably better they know there is a problem and perhaps they can expedite the process somewhat or at least make a suggestion... otherwise you are leaving it in entirely in DAZ's hands, and that could take a while.
Thanks @barbult. If I don't hear back from customer service at DAZ soon, I might try contacting FF directly too, though as @McGyver says, FF might not be able to help much if DAZ issues us a different kind of serial key. It might be good to email FF or post about it over at FF's site in case others are also having this issue for so long.
Ok that is just strange that it works with FF4?! Thanks for the link @I-Jay If I hear back from customer service and get it working, I'll let you know here.
Thanks @RAMWolff. Unfortunately the key that I got doesn't have FF100W in it anywhere and has 76 characters (11 hyphen separated segments!) I wouldn't know which of those to include... :S
I think now that it's definitely something that only technical support from their end can fix. Hopefully they can fix it soon.
I have fluctuated between upgrading on Daz and the FF website, and the last time I purchased through DAZ which was FF8, there was as well a free upgrade to 9 if you purchased at a certain date. I contacted FF support and asked them about the upgrade if I purchased through DAZ and they said all I needed to do was send them proof of purchase from DAZ and they would honor the upgrade to 9 at their site. Once I sent my proof of purchase they immediately sent me a serial key for 9 as well as the d/l link. Amazing fast and professional customer service, so I am sure if you email them with your problem they will be able to help you very quickly.
Thanks @Kharma. I'll see what DAZ customer service says on Monday and if they can't fix it yet, I'm sending that email out to FF.
This is my first foray into FF and I've been enjoying trying out some of the filters - they're so very cool!
@Sapphire
Filter Forge here. Sorry to hear about your registration issues.
RAMWolff is right, the correct key format is as follows:
License Name: DAZ-customer-XXXXX
License key: FF100X-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX
I'm afraid we can't help if you receive anything else from DAZ3D. Please keep poking them until they send you a key in the correct format.
Same problem here, can't activate my product due to the fact that they supplied us with a Key for the wrong version. eg DAZ3D-customer-Windows-XXX I XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX-XXXXXX and its supposed to look like this, DAZ-customer-XXXXX I
XXXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX. so its definately not a format error in our situation.
Filter Forge also reafirmed that their version 10 codes is always in groups of 6-5-5-5-5-5
I read this posting too late.
I just asked the support of FilterForge politely if it would be possible to get a working serial number.
That has now also done :( Too bad
exactly my problem...I have told the support of Daz...who unfortunately has not understood the problem and simply no longer responds :(
from the FilterForge Forum :
Keys consisting of 11 sets x 6 digits were only used for Filter Forge 4 (Windows) and not for any other version. You can check your installed version by selecting Help > About, then install FF 4 (Win) from our website:
https://www.filterforge.com/forum/read.php?TID=15540
Thanks @mark_caa782e3c4 for letting me know. So I definitely don't have that format, so I guess I'll have to keep asking DAZ about getting the license key in the correct format...
That makes at least three of us then @I-Jay and @rjbreet567, with this weirdly formatted customer number and licence key. I did mention this page too in my message to customer support. Hopefully they spot the issue and can get it sorted and soon.
Just a tip, framing it as a formatting issue tells DAZ3D that the only reason your code isn't working is because you entered it wrongly. I suspect that this may be confusing the support and mixing up issues that need to be dealt with separately. Thats why they keep stating that it's a known issue even without any reported cases on this forum at that time, when they're referring to the issue lodged by RAMWolff . There is literally no combination this piece of code will ever work to activate a version 10 of this software and framing it as such prevents support from treating it with any urgency. Maybe we can create a separate forum post with a striking heading that describes this problem clearly that leaves no room for confusion.
In regards to creating a new thread with a more striking title... Unfortunately, if a new thread has anything to do with an existing thread, usually it gets locked or merged into the pre-existing thread... the best bet is to edit the original thread, but unfortunately (in this case) only the person who made the thread can do that... perhaps Private Message them and request they do that... but... Unfortunately due to the very unfortunate way DAZ chose to format the notifications window, most folks don't notice if they have any messages unless they frequently check or they have their account set up to notify them via email... and then unfortunately (lots of unfortunatelys here) not all folks get their notifications because of god knows what assorted problems.
To I-Jay and Sapphire, Ive send you a PM with a reply from Filter Forge, and it doesn't look good.
I dont think that will be a problem anymore, I think the problem is resolved, just not in a good way, sadly.
I'd love to know how that all turned out... but it's probably for the better I don't.
its fixed now. thumbs up !!
I have received a working license.
(already entered and tested)
thanks to all for the help. great community and of course thanks to the support that they could find and solve the problem so quickly.
So glad this issue is fixed and special thanks goes to the Community,Filter Forge and the support team at Daz for fixing our problem, just hope Sapphire got the message in time.
If you haven't received an updated serial number for your Filter Forge please open a ticket, Daz will be able to sort it out.
@I-Jay and @rjbreet567 I was only able to check in here now, and immediately went and checked my email & messages and YES! It's been fixed. I'm able to register FF! A big thanks from me too to the community, Filter Forge and the Daz support team. I'm very happy to have it resolved. A big YAY!
