It has been said by DAZ representatives, that DAZ gallery can be used.

Thank you, @PerttiA for that information.  Hope I provided the #s in the correct spots.

Thank you, @blue, for your thoughtful response.

I did submit my entry to  https://www.daz3d.com/epic-fantasy-render-contest#signupForm ;   prior to my post in this forum.  I recommend others look in the same place.  If you look back through this thread, there is discussion of posting to the Daz gallery, and whether it counts as "your portfolio."  FYI - the link @blue provided is to an inactive Oops link.  here: https://www.daz3d.com/epic-fantasy-render-contest..

I posted an entry to the gallery that I believe includes many of the iconic sword and sorcery art elements.

Hopefully, posting to the Daz gallery is sufficient.  Please let me know if I need to do something more to enter.

There's literally an entry process detailed on the webpage.  You have to submit your entry here: https://www.daz3d.com/epic-fantasy-render-contest..

Also i dont think Daz Gallery counts as social media.  I think only external websites with social media components (e.g., like, reblog, comment) would count as social media, in the spirit of the contest. Ultimately it is a marketing scheme to attract users.

E.g., Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, etc... perhaps Artstation (I would assume Artstation counts).  Perhaps DeviantArt, although i am more dubious about this one being qualified as social media.

To those who "dont have social media".  Well maybe spend two mins making an account, or otherwise be disqualified from the contest.

In this thread they have said that the gallery alone is enough to count for the "social media" criteria, though. It hasn't been updated on the official rules, though (last time I looked), so it's tough to be confident that won't be counted against people only using the gallery.

Hi, haven't read it all, have a question.

Is this WORLDWIDE?  I remember being upset when one of contests was USA/Canada-only.

    EDIT:

    Another question:

After contest ends, will they put up everything in a sort of gallery so we can see all works that participated and not just winners? As often, most interesting ones are not top 3 (subjectively, of course)

Also, i think it might have been a bit of mistake to ask people use tage #madewithdaz because, for example, in instagram you can see 7000+ images with such tag. I mean, sure, it doesnt matter because you send submissions through DAZ website, but tbh would be better to have people use more unique tag in case someone is curious.

But that's the whole point of this competition - to generate thousands of images tagged #madewithdaz, so their marketing can say "look at all the great things that are made with Daz!" They don't want it tied back to any particular competition. I'm not saying this is in any way evil, but it's how it is.

And according to the rules you can enter from most of the world, it's not US only.

I didn't make myself clear. 99% of images tagged with #madewithdaz  on instagram have nothing to do with sword & sorcery contest... really makes a pain to someone who would like to see examples of what people do for it and not  many years of random daz images.

Thanks for answer on worldwide aviability question.

Aren't tag searches sorted by most recent timestamp? LOL, I don't know I've never actually used tags unless required to use them in contests I have entered. Entering contests to try and win an nVidia RTX card has involved using required hashtags as well.

  • Like the Season Pass contest, I don't think Daz would want my Social Media rambling or any NSFW renders associated with their product in an official capacity... so I enter the contest via the Daz gallery, not DA or anything else resembling Social Media.

That might hurt my chances, or maybe not, but I don't care. I enter for fun and not for prizes.

    • You have to "Post your submission to social media or your portfolio using the hashtag #MadeWithDaz." I don't know what they mean by "portfolio." Would your gallery page count? That could be an option for the social-media-averse. Alternatively you could create a throwaway twitter account purely for the purposes of this competition.
    • You also have to follow Daz, which you probably can't do from a portfolio, so burner twitter account it is then.

Well that leaves me out. I didn't care for FB or twitter before the election, despise them even more now.

Best of luck though to those that do enter.

Yes. Same here. I don't do these social media platforms and have NO IDEA how to "hashtag" anything.

  • akmerlowakmerlow Posts: 1,124

To hashtag, just add that portion of text

    #madewithdaz

into description. At least this is the old way of doing this.

    Thanks for this Akmerlow.

So, you just add that anywhere in the description huh? Interesting.

You were perfecly clear. I understood why you wanted a different hashtag - I'd like one too for the same reason. But the hashtag wasn't chosen for our benefit, it's for Daz marketing. They want lots of varied pictures with the same tag, and this competition is one means to that end.

Easy to miss, but there's a ittle 'thanks for your submission' note on the same page when you submit (page appears to reload and it's there but not obvious)

I saw many people upload more than one image....can we upload as many entries as we like?

I got a little green text message underneath the form that I filled out that said my submission was received. Of course, I have to take the web server's word for it. I guess the message would of been red and said something else had it not worked.

If you are uncomfortable it was this on that page too:

"If you are having trouble, please email your submission to fantasy2021@daz3d.com and include all the required information."

My big complaint is having to manually type out all those products I used in my render on the submission form because I already did that in the DAZ Gallery. FB, DA, Twitter, and others, haven't though.

Good ones. Those prizes have made this a very popular contest I see; with me too.

I've made one entry already so far. To me it's just meh even though it took days to do it...but my second entry I like much better but it's been rendering 22 hours 15 minutes 55 seconds and only has 901 iterations completed. That's the price of matte fog and many flames in the same scene I guess.

I will do a 3rd entry too for sure that shouldn't take as long to render as it has no matte fog; so maybe I can even do a 4th & a 5th entry. I doubt it though, as I don't even have ideals for a 4th & a 5th entry yet.

    Hello All,

I have made a submission last night for the contest, however, I didn't receive any notification via email that it was accepted.    I had initially received an error messge on my first attempt to submit my information, but when I clicked the button again, it went through.   So due to the first attempt not going through, it has me wondering now if the submission went through.   Do you normally get an email message saying that it went through?   I hate to think that it didn't and then all the work I been doing would be down the drain if it doesn't get in on time.

Could anyone tell me if they received any kind of message from Daz when their submission was put through?

I was wondering about this as well and hence my question about if you receive a confirmation email that it has been accepted, especially since the first time I clicked the submit button, I did get an error.  The second time, I did get the green message.   As for all the products I used, I ended up just cutting and pasting everything that I had posted on the social media page I used.  So the prouct descriptions and sku numbers are all there.   I wasn't going to type that all over again.

    Thank you,

    Geo
