Daz Studio is actually very often just single threaded, so more cores is often of no merit whatsoever.

I understand the point... but, if you hit the Render button and then leave your machine to go get a drink... go to the bathroom, and your computer does nothing else but render, then single thread performance might be better.

But if you hit render, then  watch youtube videos, hop in a google meets with your bestie, or play a game - while rendering... Would the multi-thread CPU be the winner?

If you're planning on doing anything graphics/video intensive, including Youtube or Photoshop, you'll want a second video card dedicated to driving the display so that the render card isn't juggling jobs. That card doesn't need to be very powerful, just enough to take that load off the render card. Otherwise I suggestd a seperate computer for goofing off when renders are processing.

  • After reading all of your comments (and understanding maybe about 80% of it still), I've decide my best move is to wait and see what DAZ 5 has in the way of features and then proceed from there. I can afford to put this off for a bit, and the pandemic has inflated prices as well. Thanks agian eveyone, and by all means please continue the discussion...
