EJ Face Morphs gone from the store?

I had really been looking forward to picking this up this weekend, it was in my cart, and then disappeared when I went to check out. Please tell me they're just off-line to be updated to G8.1 or something.

  • It kind of looks like all of their non-DAZ Originals are not available? Hoping this is a temporary situation as well.

  • I hope their products that I've already purchased are still downloadable through DIM or I'll be SOL and po'ed. I have quite a few of their morph packs for both G3 & G8 and I'll be needing to do a fresh install of Daz Studio on a new Win10 system. Can anyone confirm if this content is still available on DIM if we already own it?

Someone brought this up in the there's always another sale thread and somebody said that all the products you've purchased are still available for you to download.

Yes, content you purchased will remain available even if the product is not sold here anymore. At least that's what has happened for past cases of products or vendors leaving the store.

That's good to know. It would be a real pain in the ass having to contact/convince the PA that you own the products and that you just need to download & reinstall them. I also noticed that the Charlotte 8 Pro pack is being sold over at ArtStation by a Daz3DTafi for the exact same price(not the discounted price), which I find rather odd since pro packs contain multiple products made by different PAs.

The products in old G8 (and earlier) pro bundles are all owned by DAZ3D and are DAZ originals. IIRC PA's either contract to make the products for DAZ, or DAZ purchases the rights to the products. So DAZ has the rights to sell them at Artstation if they want to. Tafi is apparently the parent company for DAZ3D which I would guess give them the rights to sell DAZ3D originals.

  • I see they are at Artstation as Artistic Squad

As @Nath pointed out in the sales thread, they moved to gumroad. You can find those disappeared non DO products at https://emmaandjordi.gumroad.com

I stay away from gumroad, but I wish them the best of luck..

Oh my gosh, I have a ton of their Zbrush plugins and completely missed that!

  • Dang. I had so much of their stuff on my Wishlist.sad Best of luck to them.

This is a shock. They are one of the PAs I would buy on the first day of release. Always had quality products and the value for the money asked for was there. My best wishes for their success.

And DAZ or whomever is ticking off the PAs, stop it!

That's what I said. There's no way to search for anything really on gumroad. I remember people saying a couple years ago that it was the next best thing as an artist marketplace...and it doesn't appear to have grown at all in those couple years. It seems to just be a mish-mosh of so much random stuff. Search for "Daz" and again, random stuff comes up. You can save off their store as a favorited link, but how is that a way to pull in new business? I just don't get the logic in that move.

While we never talk about specifics.. I wanted to just clarify that it's not always a case of a PA leaving becuase someone ticked them off.  There's a wide gamut of reasons, but also the fact that the PA just wants to strike out on their own.

There's a reason for that or just a "personal thing"?

I have the stuff I sell on my own site, with a link to my Gumroad pages for purchasing.  Works fine.

And they certainly have grown during the last couple of years, they're constantly improving and adding new features.

Not only is the search function for all intents and purposes quite useless, but within the first minute of searching by the word "Daz", I was pulling up stuff being sold that was ripped straight out of video games. It's one thing to design and sell something inspired by a video game...it's another thing entirely to extract the model from said game, re-rig it, and then sell it. That's not your model to sell. Some developers are okay with their models being used...however there is always a stipulation that no money can change hands (meaning you can extract it from the game, re-rig it, and then give it away for others to use as fanart or as video game mods). One that comes to mind is CDPR, at least when it comes to their 'The Witcher' domain. People that sell ripped 3D models run the risk of ruining that good grace and trust for everybody else.

It's always the same problem, there is no warning, a big insult toward the customers who support them all these years.

"You want my products ? Rot in hell !"

What is difficult to give a week to the customers to get the products before they are removed ?

I see no reason of spending hundreds dollar for people who doesn't care.

They aren't removed, though. Anything that has been purchased can still be re-downloaded from your account page if needed. It's not like when HW as a storefront went down and you had to back up all of your purchases or risk losing them forever.

    That happens everywhere, sadly.

Yes, but that doesn't mean we should be complacent with it. Theft of artwork anywhere online will eventually happen too, but that doesn't mean I should just sit back and support a site that is knowingly selling an artist's work without permission.

Except they probably won't be updated and support will be even harder to come by.

The ironic thing is that E&J said in their FB post that they wanted to have everything in one place and make it easier for customers to contact them. But this move seems to have done the opposite. (Would've been better if they did what AprilYSH does, and have their own site, but it links to the DAZ Store, etc. No need to pull products and one place to see the whole catalogue + ask questions about anything.)

As far as communication goes, it has never really been a strong point for this community. At least that's been my experience.

I'm lazy and I use Daz and that other store because they have easiest navigation out there. Rarely I branch anywhere else unless it's something only available on a specific site.

I don't play every game or watch every show ever produced, I've no patience for datamining if something is a ripped asset or not. Obviously it's not a problem with established artists but it does limit appeal of entire sites.

I work in retail management and have never understood this concept. I have a hard time trying to fathom that there might be customers that come into my store and want more from me and my staff other than quality products for a good price, also customer service if the product isn't to their liking or wrong. For me as a customer, all I care about is a working product at a fair price. I look at any business as a business, they offer a product, I give them money, it's why both of us exist as vendor and consumer. I actually know so many other people that work in our stores, I avoid shopping there when I need something to avoid the interactions when I just want to get in and out.

My only comment is that E&J  are great folks who make fine qualityy products in my experience. I follow them on social media as well.

This is a fascinating thread.... i wonder how customers deal with a company like Amazon which adds and subtracts thousands of products every day.  I am not aware of any store that sends out regular inventory updates especially if it is connected to private vendor business.

So even if they were to give, say, a week's notice...would that really even make a lick of difference for products that were published 6/12/24/36/48 months ago? There likely wouldn't be any updates to speak of anyways and do people actually want/need support on old products?

The products are in my wishlist but can't be purchased.

It would almost be fairer if nobody could use the products that I couldn't purchase cheeky

I have tons of stuff on my Amazon wishlist that is no longer available. Snooze ya loose, I say. I'm not faulting Amazon, or the seller...only my lack of foresight and/or funds for not purchasing when I had the chance. That's the risk you take.

Amazon tells when the stock is low and how many items are left.

They give me the possibility to purchase the item before the end.

Not necessarily with 3rd party sellers...and you never know when and if more stock will be back...I run into this all the time with shoes and handbags.
