You've got a nice variety of poses there, and body shapes. We hadn't featured Urban Sprawl or 2 that I can remember- thanks for showing that too!  I like the reflections in that glass window, the little details really make a difference.

Glad to show it then. It actually has a lot of great scenes and details throughout - one of his best IMO.

Heads up- don't check out until you see if you have the blue popup banner giving you an additional 20% off one order. (Includes new releases.)

Okay, am I the last to notice, or the first- when did one of my favorite character vendor leave the store? Artemis3D is not here anymore!  (Which is why you should NOT wait to get characters. They might not be here the next day.)

Yeah, but I'd think they'd want people to know. Seems like a bad business move to switch to Belladzines.  (I thought of that and had looked up Kalini)

I tested P3D Quinty- curious to see if using her out of the box (first render)  vs the Iray Genesis 2 shader and Uber Base (second render)  for the hair would make a difference for dark skinned individuals. The second one is with the shaders applied. It made the lips more glossy but the whites of the eyes so much darker (I would leave those unselected in Surfaces, aka the tears, schlera, etc. I think we covered this previously) as is the skin. I let both renders go 3 hours, to 80%. They're not quite done but these tests are for me and it was enough to show me what I needed to know. Quinty is cute too!

That's School Hair (Genesis 2 Female) on her, and I didn't see much difference in applying the Uber Base to it. What fixes/changes do any of you apply to Iray rendered hair?  Don't know what the white dots were and I didn't do postwork.

    Do you have Slosh's?

    http://www.daz3d.com/uht-hair-shaders-for-iray

    or Mec4D's

    http://www.daz3d.com/mec4d-unshaven-2-for-genesis-2-male-s

Either can provide a good Iray hair shader.

Yes, I do actually- forgot about that one. I dug around and also have the OOT Iray Hair Shader from another site.

Wanted to show my dabbles with testing lights- these are not fully rendered but are almost "done." My intent is to check various settings for the lights based on the characters and also to render some of the characters to see their features. A lot of mine don't look like the promos, which is a good thing- I like both.

FWSA Tempie (Victoria 6) rendered in wonderful time, even though she's not quite done it moved along nicely. This is with the Dimension Theory's Real World HDR lightset using Desert B.It's one which usually renders a bit darker and you can change it for more of a daylight scene, I left it more towards dusk. It is a desert colored lightset, with the oranges/yellow.

One thing to note is that teeth will also go quite yellow. I reduced the chest, she's quite busty. If you go in the Tone Mapping in studio, my settings (starting from the top) were (Start w Exposure Value)  14.23 / 519.41 / 6.25 / 95  (Film ISO)   then drop down to Burn Highlights 0.19 and Crush Blacks 0.40

The second one, I used a Maui with settings 13.37 / 157.36 / 6.70 / 150 (Film ISO) then 0.16 Burn Highlights and 0.40 Crush Blacks. I also went to Environment and turned down the Environment Intensity to 0.95 from 1.00, the dome scale multiplier down to 28.35. (Playing around.)

This Lady Scarlett outfit comes with a flamboyant hat, I got it as a potential Halloween costume to kitbash with other items. A bit too low cut for children's books! (Must've really gotten a good deal, eh?)

For the hair, all I can say is after trying one of EmmaAndJordi's, I know there will always be fantastic morphs that address every section of the hair. Have you ever wanted to lay the middle of a long section over the breast down onto it? No problem. What about only the ends? No problem. Is there hair coming through the shoulder? No problem.  Melinda Hair is the hair of choice for use with "problem" outfits with things sticking up in the clothing, or big busted figures.

Need someone to check a hair for me- I'm testing Rikki Hair and I'm not finding any morphs. One strand goes right through the cheek of my character, and I can't move it. You don't have to render it, but can someone load it up and see if you find any fixes for it? I used the Surface Tool too and tried highlighting the errant strand, but it's not separated so I can't opague it out. Went into Scene and broke it down, no go other than the traditional XYZ rotation (even those don't do squat.) Appreciate the help, perhaps I'm missing something.

EDIT: OMGosh, it does it in the main promo picture too!

EDIT: Here's a sample- not fully rendered, but you can see the strand at the cheek. The ends do not narrow, the strand is the same size as the one on the forehead and you can see how that one (and all the others) taper at the end. This one is embedded in the cheek IMO. (If it isn't, it sure looks bad to me.)  Click to enlarge and click again and you can really see it.

  • Actually, if you look closely, the strand that looks like it's going into the cheek, actually isn't. It's a spiral curl. If you look closer there is a very thin tail that continues.

I didn't buy the hair. I'm sorry I can be no help on this one. =-(

Tramp Graphics is correct.  I just checked the hair from the side view and that curl is not embedded in the cheek.

Thanks to both~ couldn't reload the scene as I had put a different hair on and it was a very long render due to size. I wanted to see the character in long hair.

I definitely am not using that hair very much, too restrictive in the angle from which you have to shoot. There needs to be moves/fixes for those strands on the cheek.

And here she is, Larian for Ninive 6 in Leyton Hair. (Genesis 2 & 3 Females) I didn't buy the Pro Bundle but thought Larian was quite lovely. Leyton Hair is a layered hair, and seems more flowing and less choppy than the promos IMO. (Which is nice, I like it better.)

This(first render below) was again the Apocalyptic lighting by Dumor, with a spotlight added. For those new to Iray, and who want to twiddle with it, I'll give you my settings and you can play from there. This works on Larian and probably other light skinned. I'm not saying this is a great have-to-have setup, but one to get you started. I liked it for a late evening twilight feeling. Simply changing the ISO will give you more light (as will other things like Environment Intensity and the other Tone Mapping sliders.)

In Environment: Dome and Scene, Finite Sphere, Draw Dome Off, Visualize Finite Dome Off, Environment Intensity 2.61 (Note that!)  Environment Map (Apocalyptic, as mentioned)  etc. Whatever the product loaded/changed. (In fairness to vendors, I don't post specific product attributes, and I'm not sure what changed when that map loaded. Do Environment settings change with all these various maps by different vendors?)

Tone Mapping- (these are mine, so I'll relay them)  from the top, starting at Exposure Value: 13.34 / 191.54 / 7.02 / 110 (ISO) with everything else the same except Burn Highlights 0.16 and Crush Blacks 0.40. I wanted more of that because of the fair skin (it increase contrast a bit.)

For Larian, try a spotlight using 140 / 118 / 99, a rich chocolate, for shadows. I put the light at coordinates (XYZ)  -70.98 / 232.38 / 21.13 with the rotation at -46.09 / -73.45 / 0.0001   (how funky is that last one?)   Put your spotlight at 65.9% intensity.

The second one, so you can compare the two lightsets, was OOT Dramatic Iray Lights. Another easy to use set of lights and I'd recommend them too. Again, for the subtle, twilight look- but there's a nice variety in the set, so be sure and take a peek.

Remember this first one has rich chocolate tones added, mostly to your left.

I'm doing some experiments with dark backgrounds and dark hair to see where some of these sets are throwing lights, so these don't have additional lights added. I decided to share them though as I tweaked the outfit for you to see some fun combinations. It's a family friendly one and for your faeries and elves, keep it in mind. With the green and red combinations, you can also use it for holiday renders. I've shown you a full length so you can see those adorable shoes, which also have different colors for options.

First render: This Fairyfae Hair  (Genesis 2) had smoothing applied but needs more to get the sharpness out of it. It was an initial out of the box test. It does have a lot of well placed strands and quite a bit of shine under Iray, I didn't apply anything to it other than the Uberbase (Iray)  The lights I tested on that one were the Apocalypse lights and you can see they do quite well showing up against an all black background.

Don't you love the detail on that Fae Folks (Genesis 2) jacket? The veining of the leaves is remarkable. The flower on the sleeve is optional and also comes with different colors. Note the wrap around the waist, it is separate and I showed the outfit without it. A lot of nice options to change up the outfit. Consider Fae Folks for layering with other outfits.

One thing I will change when I use Haiku  (Keiko 6)  is the square teeth, I think a little Fangtastic is in order. (For those new to the thread(s), I showcased Gianni with Fangtastic changes earlier this year. You can make the canines look more natural, and if I recall, get rounded edges on teeth. I'm pretty sure you can raise them up a bit so you don't have such an even row of teeth. I haven't used it in awhile, so anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.)

Second and third renders: So I changed up the hair a bit (Nimue) when I switched out the materials on the Fae Folks outfit. (It also has a hat, not shown.)  Second render shows a red  jacket, then I showed you the outfit without it. The last render shows the striped option, but also the Longitude/Latitude lights. The Apocalypse lit the hair from above better than the Longitude, but that depends on which option you pick from the latter too.

EDIT: If anyone has this outfit in a regularly lit scene, please feel free to share. These were my doodles.

FYI, if you want to remove the Elf ears, go into Parameters>Actor under Head>Ears. There's a Haiku ears that will be set to 1.0, simply slide it to zero. I'm doing a test render of her later tonight I think.

Fangtastic changed the teeth next to the front two, quite nicely. It does round them, shrink them, make them go up and down. I provided a screenshot so you can see where it was located and the settings. I've got other teeth products, but I know this was Fangtastic as it said "fangs" lol. Those teeth look so much more natural. I hate blocky square teeth! So don't think Vampires when you see Fangtastic on sale, it's worth grabbing for regular folks too!

Thanks, yes, and no tweaking- they're very versatile and look good when you add lights to them too. The one I used is from set 1. To me, those are wonderful for dusky lighting, pre-dawn, cloudy day- as I think the vendor says, not a bright, cheery day. (Hence the name of the product, right?)  I got set 2 but haven't rendered them yet.

Well, 41,000 views/posts on this thread, so thanks to everyone pitching in to discuss the products and answer questions. If anyone buys Arabella and feels like posting a render, please feel free. I'm not picking her up at this time because frankly I was getting 64% off during the PA sale and really went to town. I still love my Genesis and Genesis 2 gals and have so many that I need to concentrate on sets, props, and of course, men characters.

One thing I'd like to mention, even though I haven't rendered it yet, is the Ruined SubwayTunnel and SubwayTrain. I've rendered the Western Town by Polish and liked the attention to detail, also shown Summer Island.  I didn't pick up Forest Heart as the leaves on the trees seemed slightly smooshed IMO in the promos (anyone rendered that one?) and I have a lot of outdoor scenes already,  but Polish has a lot of neat products. Anyway, a note- the Ruined Subway Tunnel has sections of it which are not in ruins, so you can use it outside the train windows. I kept looking for a regular tunnel, then figured out the ruined one can double for it with careful camera placement. EDIT: The banner has the featured stores back so Polish is featured.

Would also like to thank the artists participating in the Because I Said So! contest- the entries are extremely clever!  We have a few days left, so get the renders finished up and in the entry thread!

Don't forget to pick up the new freebie. (Mortuorum Sacris)

Note- I know I'm not insane, but I may have missed it (although I did the scrolling banner twice when I checked it) so the PC Club section with the featured stores and items IS back in the banner, so Polish store is still featured. I did an edit to the above post but some of you may miss it.

Interesting- Capsces Digital Ink has some 65% off products, that further discount if you have one of the featured products. (I've got FWSA Hannah in the cart ($2.99 and it's a qualifying item)  If you've got the Morphing Python, the  Capsces Madame Mojo Monique 6 poses go down to $5.08 and I'd personally hate to try and fiddle with that snake to pose it like those poses do- well worth $5 !   And Supercomic Poses for Karen 7  goes to $4.48. There's a few others, too. Happy shopping!

Yea, it is a bit of a tedious task (not difficult, just tedious for custom poses), as I have done for an unfinished project. I don't have that particular snake, I have the SY set. I am quite curious how they differ for the bone rigging. With the SY snake (and many other critters) it is easy to select a collection of vertebra, and pose them all at once.

I have that Capces Voodoo Monique pose set, I may try posing the SY snake for that (not this instant), just to see how it looks. Whose to say, it couldn't be a Mayan or Egyptian pose set, lol.

    P.S.

Don't get scared off by the screen-cap. The SY snake dose include Pose presets, so it is easy to start with a Preset, and then adjust the spots you want. Oh, and there are Pose dials as well.

Well, I decided to test it out too (thanks for the screenshots) and WOW. One thing you must do first with the python is parent it to Monique's hip. Then one click and that's IT! That store is still on sale, seriously think about getting Capsces Madame Mojo Monique 6  even if you don't have the Morphing Python yet. Right now I'm seeing it at 40% off and only $5.97, and you can use your PC+ coupon it (in an $18 purchase-  and not sure how the $6 one works for DOs under $6? Do you have to have $6 worth of DO products? Anyway, it would be "free" with that one. But if you buy a qualifying item, it's only $5.08 anyway!)

So the first pose was tweaked a bit, I pulled the python's head down and over toward her hand but otherwise, it was a click and "Ooooooh, I love that!" setup.

Anyway, in 28 minutes, the render was 89% completed- so Voodoo Hut is a fairly quick render and really cool. It finished in under an hour! The first render, I forgot it had water and didn't apply a water shader, the second one, (IN PROGRESS)  I went into the Uberbase section (Content Library under Shader Presets) and did the water from there.

Monique is wearing Chace Hair (Genesis 2 & 3 Females)  (the Iray materials come with it) and now for the fun kitbash...

First, let's look at Ladybug Outfit  (Genesis 2)  as that is the top underneath the sexy corset. WOW. Don't ask me how I got that ultra shiny patent leather look for the top, because I didn't do anything other than darken the diffuse color to match the middle of the corset (which is a different product.)  Is the Iray lighting doing that? It's supposed to be a regular cotton top!   I love the symmetry of the Lilim Outfit (linked below) corset covering the breasts that rise up toward the neck opening. They form a line which continues upward with either side of the neckline, if you follow what I mean.

The pants are Ninja Keiko for Genesis 2 Female(s) and I love the way they layered lower than the panties and had part of them protruding from the Lilim Outfit  (Gen2 Females)  and yes, take a peek at this main promo image for the Pro Bundle of Lilith 6.  If you bought the Pro Bundle and perhaps thought, "I'll probably never use that outfit" then layer it with the Ladybug Outfit top and you've got a decent, family friendly outfit! The corset and the top of the panty (that has the fun prongs sticking out) are both from that ultra sexy Lilim Outfit!

Edit: The second render here is lightened/contrast/midtones, etc. But I wanted to show you what it did with the lightset without any tweaks.

The lighting is Dimension Theory's Daz Studio Iray HDR Outdoor Environments, and if you like it, the character is at World Center, camera is Front and and I did not move the sun or tweak in any way. Yes, this is OUT OF THE BOX! One click and you can render with confidence.  I used DTHDR- Ruins B, Dome and Scene, Infinite Sphere, Draw Dome Off,  left Environment Intensity at 1.00

I am rendering another one for you but it will be an hour. Writing all this up took about an hour so I am headed to bed (4am my time) and hope you got a pleasant surprise with the Lilim and Ladybug combinations (with the Ninja Keiko pants! Those work because they are low slung and the top of the Lilim panties will show or protrude through nicely.)  Remember the Capsces store is one of the featured ones and you can get the poses for $5.08 as they are already 65% off! (when you buy a qualifying item)
