For Those Who Have Vyusur's New Genesis Clones...

Vyusur's 'Genesis Clones For Genesis 8 And 8.1 And Vice Versa':

https://www.daz3d.com/genesis-clones-for-genesis-8-and-81-and-vice-versa

The promotional images don't make it clear. Is thise one of those products which require you to manually save things in sub-folders or is it a one-click option you could just select from Smart Content and, bam, everything's taken care of? I avoid the former, but if it's the latter, this looks incredibly useful to those of us who gathered lots of Genesis content, over the years!

Especially being able to place Genesis 8 clothing on Genesis, so that we can easily have unisex wardrobe suitablity.

I was wondering about this item... how is it different than the Genesis clone that G8/G8.1 already has by default?

  • FSMCDesignsFSMCDesigns Posts: 12,755

It's a clone for autofit, so you will probably have to save it if you want to save any custom settings, otherwise you just use it each time. Kinda cool it works backwards, even though I don't use genesis any more.

The G8 clones have shape different from default clone and is more accurate and precise. You can select the option from popup menu of Transfer Utility. The product includes a manual pdf.

Decided to purchase and can confirm this works beautifully for getting G8 to wear G1 clothing and vice versa!

Was able to get G8 to wear the 'Prometheus'-like Creation Engineer costume (which I've been wanting a compatible remake for) and a G1 figure to wear Dogz' Ninties Nostalgia Wardrobe. This gives my G1 characters a whole new lease on life, because of how easy it is to activate!

It's useful to keep in mind how older generations of characters can be really useful for populating backgrounds. Now that can be done with equal quality clothing to what the main characters are wearing.

It looks interesting, but I'm unsure. How well can the clone for G8F handle over-knee-length dresses, do they work alright? Sadly, there weren't any promos of long dresses or skirts. Has anybody tried? Also, do the clothes keep their morphs and handles and such intact after saving them off of the clone?

  • I just bought this today. It worked going from Gen 8 to Genesis with ease. I think it was the dforce Hanfu. It was so easy to use as well. I converted it and then ran some dforce with great success. So far so good.

Genesis 8 has less polys than Genesis, so base Genesis 8 in the background is less intensive than base genesis in the background meshwise.

Can you use any of your regular Genesis 8 or G 8.1 characters, if you've added morphs, etc., to the character? In other words, you don't just have to use a base Michael 8 or 8.1 character without any shaping or morphing: correct?

What an autofit clone will do, is make the clothing as though to fit the base figure then dial in the morphs automatically as auto-follow permits. As with any morph applied to clothing, extreme morphs may require some TLC morphs for adjustments.

I bought this without hesitation. I'm(probably) the biggest Genesis 1 fanboy here, so this felt like it was made with me in mind!

I bought it as soon as I saw it.

G1 Male with G8 Hair and Clothes.

I'm over the moon. My favorite figure can keep on chugging for years.

OK. I bought it, and I am so far delighted. Only  had time to test some Genesis clothing going onto Genesis 8. Now, about the manual, where might that be found? Never mind, I found the manual.

How about doing something like this for Genesis 2 as well?

Crazy people using old figures, LOL surprise

It's funny, I started with Victoria 3 and then V4 and on and on to GF8.1. I was HEAVILY invested into V4, so getting on the genesis bandwagon took some doing, but once I did and transferred my fav V4 characters over there was no looking back. I was real big on using my older V4 skins on G3 and G8, but after doing so for a bit, and even using some converters, like anagenssis I realized how bad they looked in iray compared to the higher quality, newer iray skins, so i gave up on that idea.

Yep. I agree. Much as it pains me to have to re-invest in new generations, eventually I do. Not immediately - I usually wait until the products start appearing at good discounts. I have only just made the move from G3M to G8M but I switched to G8F long ago and don't use any previous generations.

If the next generation comes out with a body mesh that behaves like real flesh, I will start over again. I mean physics, collision, folds and creases. I just hope that I don't have to start over with the wardrobe too.

Well, for me its about versatility. Genesis 1 has stuff going for it that nothing which came after does, like parity for almost all of it's stylized characters. Where with Geneis 8 you'll get these amazing looking characters like Sakura with no official male counterpart for G8M.

I have to say like you when I first started with DS it was V3 then V4  etc etc ,I really like Genesis 8 ,not planning on moving on to Genesis 8.1 ,because from what I've seen ,8.1 could have been added to 8 and still been able to use all the same stuff as 8 ,but so could the changes that turned 3 into 8 .iRay is all well and good if you are going for realism ,but I'm not ,I still am trying to make 3DL  do what I want ,I still like some of the characters from the older generations and if I can move them up I will ,that way they'll have the lower poly count  but still be what I want .Also to be honest there seems to be fewer freebie creators and some people can't afford to keep moving up and ignoring their older content ....... that being said I have put this and SickleYield's on my wishlist

I've got and have used RiverSoft's clothing converters, and they do help a lot. When they do work. But a lot of my gen4 conversions revert into grey boxes the next time I open up the program and try to use them again. Or refuse to convert in the first place. Or they convert the first time. Then revert and refuse to convert again.

When a clone wotrks, it at least tends to go on working. Improved clones are a Good Thing.

+1 Yep, this Autofit Clone is especially fine.

That's good to know. Can anyone perhaps also confirm by now that the clones work well for long dresses (Genesis to Genesis 8)? I'm really anxious about that ...

normal clones don't work well for dresses, tunics, etc because of the normal shape of the figure. The special converter products have special shapes and fixes in them to help with these types of outfits, but usually affecting normal clothes fitting in the process.

personally I would just purchase and try it out for your own use and see how it does. it is what I did in the past and had to return a couple of them because I don't use dresses much and i couldn't get good tight fits because of the special helpers and shapes.

That was a really helpful explanation, thanks! I think I'll stick with the converters then. I always feel bad for the PAs if I have to return an item.

I've been trying the other clones I have. One gets M4 clothing items onto Genesis 8 and does, in my judgment, a great job: https://www.daz3d.com/sy-victoria-4-and-michael-4-clones-for-genesis-8

Another one will allow Genesis 3 characters to wear clothes from earlier figures, such as Kids 4, Victoria 3, David 3, Michael 3, Michael 4, etc. It really allows quite a few clothing items to be transferred to Genesis 3: https://www.daz3d.com/wear-them-all-autofit-clones-expansion-for-genesis-3-male-s-and-genesis-3-female-s

Now, I just wish there would be a clone to bring Genesis 2 clothing onto Genesis 8 characters.

Yeah, there was some nice stuff for G2.

I love that clones like this are a two way street. In terms of clothing and hair, you get to have it all, no matter which figure you use.

Those clones work fine.  Lots of older scifi suits I can use now.

Although I never had any issues with any clothing outright breaking or refusing to convert at all using whilst scripted clothing converters. Just follow the manual and it will convert unless there's something specifically anti-convertion in the outfit itself.

Incredibly nice to see someone is still supporting Genesis 1 which is, in my opinion, THE BEST Genesis figure ever. cool

    A sure purchase here. laugh

Well, with Genesis 3, I can't get the MMA clothing to convert over to G8. The helmet will and the shorts, but the gloves and the shin guards: no way. Would be so nice if there were a way to get clothing like that over from G3 to G8, and the same sort of thing for G2 to G8. Autofit tries, but fails. And, unfortunately, there are no options to select something like "gloves" or "shin guards."

Most G3 clothing works fine on G8 just by changing the scene identifier. Load G8 figure, then unselect it and load the G3 clothing item. Then select the clothing item and click the 4 little bars in the upper right corner of the pane and you will get a menu. Select  edit, then scene identification and change the figure from G3 to G8 and save. Now you can fit it just like a G8 clothing item
