15% off 30% off means 0.85 * 0.7 = 0.595 or 59.5%, rounded to 60%, or 40% off, because they don't show fractional discounts, but final price will be 59.5% of the original, or 40.5% off.
(edited for clarity)
You don't have the master Swordsman Bundle in your cart, so there's nothing to take 10% off.
Thats not what I'm talking about, as I only used the bundle to show other occurences. I'm talking about the so called, "Extra 15% off New Daz Original Items." An item is 30% off, but the promotion says take an extra 15% off. How would they get to 40% off overall instead of 45% (30+15 = 45), that it should show. And to the guy above you (sorry, I don't know how to double quote), I'm not the greatest at math, but 15% of 30% is not 0.85 like you have it, its 0.045. I had to use Google because again, my math isn't the best. Maybe one of the calculations from Daz is the correct and intended way, but I'm just showing there is inconsistency. Again, it doesn't seem like the problem is going to be solved here so I went ahead and just emailed customer support.
Thank you anyways for trying to assistance in this matter.
It's not 15% x 30%, it is as I indicated 0.85 x 0.70. Your example shows a 4.5% result. Is that what you see in the cart?
30% off is (100% - 30%) = 70% of the original price.
15% off is (100% - 15%) = 85% of the remaining price.
Combine the two for, say, a $30 original price. The 30% Off price is ($30 * 0.7) = $21. Another 15% off is ($21 * 0.85) = $17.85
$17.85 / $30 = 0.595, 59.5% of the original price, which is 40.5% off. It's not your math that is wrong, it is your concept of how discounts stack up. They are not additive. If you go to any store where something is at, say, 50% OFF, and they advertise all sale items are an additional 50% off, do you think they will give it for free? No, they will be at 75% off. This argument comes up every month, and you will never win it.
Ok I'm not trying to argue with you or anyone here, I'm saying there are inconsistency here which I'm still seeing. I like having deals, but they just aren't consistent which is throwing me off. Sorry if you are taking it the wrong way. So I'll say this again, thank you for your time and have a wonderful day.
@gsil247,
DAZ indeed sometimes messes up the discounts, but in this case @NorthOf45 gave you a good breakdown on the math. There are no issues with the example you presented. Now I have a possible reason as to why you may think there are inconsistencies with some of the discounts you see. You have to keep an eye whenever you see the word "EXTRA" attached to a discount. When this is the case, what it means is that that EXTRA discount will be applied to the price after any other discount (as described by NorthOf45) and not the original price (as you are expecting).
For example, as a PC member any new purchase comes with a 30% off and if the product is a DAZ orignal it has an EXTRA 30% off. Why is the Master Swordsman at 51% and not 60%? Because these discounts work as extra. Also, you don't add or multiply the discount but instead the remaining portion.
Each discount give you a 30% off, that is 100% - 30% = 70%. Seventy is the remaining portion, therefore you multiply the 70% x 70% which translate into 49%. That 49% represents the remaining portion of the orignal price therefore 100 - 49 = 51%.
Another example are the prices at the featured artist. Most of them are at 60% while some others at 72% if you are a PC member. Is the same principle:
100 - 60 = 40% from the sale and 100 - 30 = 70% from PC membership (EXTRA). Therefore 40% x 70% = 28% which is why you see 72% off (100 - 28).
Hope this helps.
I second this. The only time I tried mine (8% off) was on the $2.99 products and it didn't work.
Cheers.
The $2.99 items are an absolute price, they don't stack with other adjustments.
Oh was it? I don't remember seeing the typical note stating it doesn't stack with any other offers. Nor the coupon exclude them in the small print.
Anyways, the saving wasn't even a buck LOL so is not a big deal.
Thanks for the reply.
Cheers.
Sometime during the day they added the "does not stack with other discounts" fine print to the 2.99 banner. It wasn't there originally. They should really add that fine print to the 10% message they sent us, because it clearly says it's good on everything exceot FastGrab and PC memberships. It would help prevent hard feelings.
The FLASH sale isn't working, and I can't find any of the "Mystic Mix New Releases" mentioned anywhere...
Is this flash sale banner a mistake?
I was thinking the same thing. There's a ton of items not even discounted AT ALL
Come on... we are doing time travel again? :)
Thanks for claifying. I agree with you.
Cheers.
My orange banner (coupon) isn't for 10% but if I add new non-PC+ items recently released they do not discount. No spaces all caps the gives an error reading "There was an error processing your request and the cart refreshes with the coupon code still poulated but no discount applied. Been that way since Nov 8th. They really should fix this.
Best of Winter:
Ice Hotel: Perfect!
Snow, ice and ash: Yeah, two out of three and all...
Victorian Rooftop Christmas Scene: Sure, Christmas happens in winter (for half the world, anyway)
Robyn 8: Um...
Holt 8: Why is a cowboy winter?
Huh, I don't really get the new promo. It says Build Your Bundle, but there's no specification as to how, and for what price. Also, the new items on the promo page are missing their discounts.
Phew. Recent sales are quite underwhelming. Did not go for it but gathered a meager 6% for this weeks purchases. But with the exception of some Flash Sales earlier the week and a few DAZ+ items I see no incentive to purchase anything. Let's wait for BF/CM then. Was never a big thing here if I remember right but that might change as all other promos tend to become more and more lackluster IMO.
Oh crap, I keep forgetting my discount from last week. This coupon solution is not the best, in my opinion. :( (I'm not going to write to support, it's only 2%, and comes down to less than a dollar...)
Is ND Weirdo an error, a link to the future or a glitch in the matrix?
https://www.daz3d.com/blind-fury-poses-for-nd-weirdo-and-genesis-81-females
I noticed that and forgot to send an enquiry, will do so now.
Product link readme shows today as the release date https://www.daz3d.com/nd-weirdo-creature-hd-for-genesis-81-female
Yes, it was held up by the security schecks at the entrance - nothing the judicious use of psychic powers/a ray gun couldn't resolve.
Um, okay... how does today's "Build Your Own Bundle" work? Or is it even supposed to?
https://www.daz3d.com/BYOB-DEALS
No matter how many items from the link you add to your cart, no savings kick in. Which means the pre-selected items function no more differently in your cart than the other 34,000 already listed elsewhere in the store. How does that constitute a deal?
On the other hand, if the ad merely implies that if you buy one new item, you get one BYOB item free, how does that constitute a bundle?
Buying one of today's new releases gets you a free item from the set, buying two or more gets you 10% off any other items from the list.
Staff Picks Best of Winter bundle is advertised as only costing the price of items not owned. However, this is no longer working..
It was working for you earlier? I know mine was free yesterday.
issue confirmed, reporting.
