mermaid - this came out beautiful, very detailed terrain and lighting. The sky fits the scene nicely.
Thanks Adbc and Horo
adbc..horo..Past as Future Thank you
mermaid010 thank you ...great landscape it has nice depth to it
a couple of quickies first one my own terrain and mat second one 3 terrains and multiple objects plus suitable mat
Spuddy - thanks, both your landscapes are great, very nice lighting
spuddy - two nicely done renders. I like the terrain in the first more because there is more contrast, though the haze is a bit funny. The second terrain is also very nice, it just looks a bit flat due to the lighting. Both have the same nice sky.
The object was made in Wings3D and given materials from Fifty Funky Shapes & Fifty Funky Metals and is within a cube. Lighting after the "Hypertexture Obscure Light for Indoors" (PDF on my website under Documents - Mine - Light) method with 6 flat Parallel Lights; in front of them 2D-Faces with images from renders made with Structure Synth objects. Rendered with True Ambience.
Horo - very interesting abstract, awesome render
spuddy : both landscapes are beautiful, nice sky.
Horo : great abstract, original idea.
4 terrains, sunless hdri, free vegetation and rocks, and 1 Bryce tree.
mermaid - thank you. I liked it very much when it was finished but now I think it is a bit busy.
adbc - thank you. This is a beautiful winter scene you show here.
Horo, NGartlplay, mermaid, adbc, hubert: thanks.
Mach25, very interesting experiment, I would like to know more about your process.
Past as Future: very nice looking model.
Horo, Very good looking terrain and vegetation, great realism. Very special abstract.
adbc, you made a wonderful display of that majestic tree. The second terrain looks not very inviting for people to live in, but it is a great render.
Spuddy, That is an extremely realistic landscape render om page 46, I love it! The flowers look very good too. The terrain on this page has an interesting viewpoint, lots of depth. And the one with the walking man is very realistic again. You use very good texture maps.
Mermaid, Great view of the terrains, dark and moody.
I created a new set of terrains. First three are based on the tiled terrain I used earlier. I made substantial modifications to get to the results. First one is a futher modification of the previous ones I made. Modified sky slab in that one as well. The intention was that the sky was the star of the show. NextI started with the original one again and made modifications using the filtering options and the edges as well as further modifications. No sky slabs in these two, but skies with HDRIs. In the third one I added a number of Allosauruses.
The next set is a set of reworked terrains from the one that started with a photo of leaves (and berries) that I used quite some time ago. I did quite some modifications, e.g. add a picture in the terrain editor and blend it with the original height map. Various sky textures, including HDRI, one from the fantastic skies and the other two from the sky itself. Also different terrain textures.
Hansmar - thank you. Six interesting terrains. The first has a nice sky, the second seems to have some lava flows, the third has an alien terrain and the dinos fit well into this scene.
The fourth looks like there could be a fortress in the rock, the mountains on the fifth have an interesting pattern and the sixth - the last - is my favorite of them all: very natural looking snow mountains and clouds.
Horo, love your composition here. Looks amazing. I'm a huge fan of the groud/grass material.
adbc, the tree is excellent here and parts of the image look like an oil painting to me.
Spuddy, the garden wall is so pretty. Like the addition of the songbird. The water and hills looks believable with the haze and terrain material. Calming image.
mermaid, fabulous sky and distant haze. The terrains and scale are spot on. Well done.
Page 2, you've all been busy.
Horo, that's a wild render. The ambience is excellent and I like the images on the walls/sides too.
Spuddy, I spent a lot of time looking at your first image with the water and rocky land but the second image with the man walking looks like a photograph.
adbc, amazing snow terrain...love it.
Hansmar, the first three are my favorites. The first with the rocky material has a wonderful sky and the snow settling in the lower parts..perfect. The second second has the most unique material on the terrain, very cool. The third is a sequel to your other dino image. The terrain looks like it came out of the Jurassic period.
Horo, Hansmar, NGartplay : thank you.
Hansmar : that's a real awesome set of terrains. In the first set : the first has a beautiful sky and snowy terrain, the second :love the material of the terrain, the third : great composition with the dinos. My preference goes to the second and third scene.
The second set is very cool, awesome terrains and materials, I prefer the first one in that set.
Thank you NGartplay Good to see you back.
mermaid: Visitors from outer space. Great terrain, mats and lighting!
spuddy: Great "quickies". Wonderful composition and terrain work!
Horo: Wild stuff/object. A cool composition!
adbc: A very moody scene. I like its softness and lighting. Great mats too.
Hansmar: Great set of landscapes. Impressive terrain and mat work! The second image of the first set is my favorite here (fascinating mats and water).
Thank you hubert.
hubert : thank you.
The terrains were made from DEMs (Digital Elevation Map) of the Moon and given a de-saturated material from High Resolution Terrains 1. The sun is from the Space Construction Kit, the Earth atmosphere as well and in front of the camera is the EWL from Lenses and Filters. The Apollo Lunar Module is from the "NASA 3D Resources" Website. North is right, the region is about 20° south. There was never an Apollo.
Horo, NGartplay, adbc, Hubert, Thanks for the nice words. Also interesting to see how the preferences differ between you. That's how it is: part of it is a taste for this or that.
Horo, very good looking moon render. For me, the fire underneath Apollo is a bit distracting, though, from the overall grey-scale image.
Horo, the moon's surface is fabulous. The lunar module gets a bit lost in this. I had to look twice to see what it was. May be my monitor. I also like the atmosphere around the Earth.
Adbc beautiful winter scene the lighting is awesome.
Hansmar thanks, 6 superb scenes, all are charming with nice lighting and materials.
Thanks NGartplay and Hubert
Horo a very nice space scene
Terrain, materials and lighting from the Grand Mountains product. The city block is a model by Drachenlords.
Hansmar - thank you. Yes, I intended to do the flames in blue but somehow missed to do it.
NGartplay - thank you. Actually, the lunar module should be pitch black with the sun opposite of it. I finally used a dome light to brighten it up a bit.
mermaid - thank you. Really beautifully done mountain scene with a very fitting dark sky.
Horo : awesome moon render, great sky.
mermaid : thank you. Very realistic mountain scene, awesome terrain material and sky.
adbc - thank you.
Thank you Horo I like your interesting abstract even though as you say there is a lot going on.....Intersting material on on your moon picture but there are scale issues for me
adbcthanks very lovely snowy scene
Hansmar thanks Great set of terrains I like the last one best it has a lovely graphic quality to it
NGartplay..Hubert thanks
mermaid010 thanks those are lovely snowy mountains
did an adjustment on rock pools didn't realise i had haze up so reduced and added a man for scale
did a snow scene hand drawn terrain and tried out a snow material
mermaid, wow, love the brooding sky and the snow and terrain are so believable.
Spuddy, like the new take on your previous image. There's something about the second image that makes me feel like I'm there. The lighting perhaps. Nicely done.
spuddy - thank you. The corrected upper image with the adjusted haze is much better and the man helps to give a sense of scale. The second one is also nice but the snow does not convince me.
spuddy : thank you. The corrected image is indeed better. The snow terrain does not really look like snow (to me), nice render though.
2 abstracts, different HDRI skies and materials used on the sphere, also used a posterization filter on both.
