Yes, it looks pretty, but does it do anything.

  • I certainly am not attacking other users for their choices, just the products.

    Because I am a customer.

Welp, if I ever start selling here, expect my first set to be completely static. Not gonna spend months working on some crazy set with keyframed animation rigging and stuff only to get another canned rejection letter :P

    static is not the problem

its not being separate bits that is because apparently it is too hard to import the room from the modelling app, then the table, then the coffee cup ... etc

to be fair it also is a limitation of DAZ studio that it cannot import obj as separate meshes like most other apps can

as long as you clearly state your entire set is in one piece that is your choice though, that's all I ask of DAZ products so I don't buy those ones unless dirt cheap devil or I just put those PAs on my skip over list

  • OK a positive request for PAs with scripting abilities like @Totte @Riversoftart etc

the geometry editor can only isolate one mesh at a time to save

what is needed is a prop splitter that will isolate as many meshes as one chooses by surfaces, facegroups, selecting vertices/faces whatever and saves them as props with icons and names.

if such a thing is possible we can all buy it and those sets we have been avoiding angel

    for the win!

It is what I think possible to do. A completely different but relevant question is though "Is it worth doing?".
Doing something like this is a rough estimate of about 300 hours of work to get it easy to use and wont cause issues, is polished, has a manual etc.
That will need it to sell to cover that and reach break even in about two years. So it needs to be though over quite extensible before you dive into such a task.

  • well up to you but if the current trend of solid object sets continues I can see a market.

of course I can use Carrara, Blender or even the geometry editor,

it is likewise the effort and hours needed that make just not buying those not versatile products easier cheeky

I don't make a single cent from this hobby either wink so less purchases it a plus

I also hate playing the 'does the door open' game on Daz too.

    ...

And it's not only all the opening doors and compartments it has... there's even applications on most seats that help to keep the spacefarers seated in case of zero gravity... handles all over the place for them to move about... like... like... like it was done for a real, working space capsule!

All products I have from this PA are multipart and kitbashable. As far as scifi ones go, they're all made to work with each other. For an example their corridor sections are made in the same style.

Good quality and it's not like Daz inventory is swimming in sets made more on the scifi than on the space opera side.
