how is chevybabe not here? i TOTALLY ADORE Chevybabe's hair...so detailed and gorgeous and with morphs if you can't handle dforcing....

I'm a giant fan of their Backlight shaders and use them religiously on pretty much every hair I use...but I'm not so much a fan of the move to dForce hair (SBH). It just doesn't look good to me, no matter who the creator is. So if a PA is sticking exclusively to dForce hair (SBH), I sadly can't put them on my favorites list. (That doesn't count cloth-based dForce hair...I'm a giant fan of Linday and love that they're sticking with the cloth engine and not moving to SBH).

    Agree 100%.

...April YSH, Out Of Touch, and Goldtassel

Though not known as a hair PA, I also include Slosh for the UHT hair Colour system which creates more options..

Old hardware here so not big on dForce hair.

  • I probably use AprilYSH the most, but that doesn't mean there aren't other superb names mentioned in this thread.

Really liking Windfield lately as well.

I also use Slosh's UHT textures, especially for working with pre-Iray hair in general... or, when I want to use several hairstyles for one character, I'll use the UHT textures as a unifying look.

I don't mind the SBH system, but mostly just for looks that I create myself out of the free tools (like the Centauri head crest from Babylon 5).

for dForce Hair: Linday and AprilYSH

for 'static' Hair: outoftouch and Windfield with Sarah Payne close behind

Linday hair in my experience really eats a lot of ressources and takes a billion years to simulate, but pretty much always looks great. AprilYSH's stuff is lightweight and simulates extremely fast, but I pretty much always have to use some sort of alternative shader, since hers never look quite right to me.

outoftouch hair also looks amazing, but some of it barely come with any morphs there days, so you practically cannot use it for anything but portraits.

I really like the look of a lot of chevybabe25's hair products but they barely seem to work at all with dForce, requiring quite a bit of finetuning, which makes it very bothersome to use.

OOT with Sue Yee in 2nd (especially as of late), Sprite in 3rd, and Windfield in 4th! All make some WONDERFULLY REALISTIC hairs, but OOT retains the years long crown!
