3DConnexion, lists one when you search it on there site, but the link takes you back to the plug-in and technical stuff page, and no amount of looking there will find it.

Is there a DAZ Studio plugin for the 3D mouses from 3DCONNEXION ?

It's built into DAZ Studio, you don't need to buy anything extra.

I am running the SpacePilot Pro with it...... Even with the speed turned down to "0" it is impossible to work with....being far too sensitive (10 times too sensitive.

As this works fine with Rhino 3D and other programs, I have to say that there is still work to do. Its a great tool for 3D .... its too bad that it does not function or calibrate correctly with DAZ 3D.

    From the 3DConnexion Site:

    http://www.3dconnexion.com/supported-software/software0.html

    Application specific

Which application works with my 3D mouse?

If an application is listed under All Supported Applications it has already added support for 3D mice.

To ensure a consistent superior 3D mouse experience across applications, 3Dconnexion provides a software development program allowing software vendors to integrate support for 3D mice in their applications. This program includes a simple software development kit (SDK) for Windows, Mac OS X, UNIX and Linux. The SDK is available on our website.

If your application does not yet support 3Dconnexion 3D Mice, the best way to help is to let the developer of the application know you are interested in 3D Mouse support. Just provide them with the information about our software development program and include a link to our SDK. We appreciate your help!

If the plug-in is not working for you you may need to open a support ticket - if it's a problem with the plug-in they can elevate it to the development team, if it's a local issue they should be able to help you fix it.

I agree, and I can find no plug-in. Do you know where they have it ?

It is part of the DAZ Studio install.

Go to Help > About Installed Plugins, and it should be in the list if it is installed properly.

Yes it is in the list, second from the top. While it works well for Rhino 3D it is not functional in DAZ. Who do I send this to?

And Thank you for your response

I think you may be misunderstanding. Each application needs its own plug-in, developed by the application developers using the information on the 3D Connection site that you linked. As noted, the plug-in for DAZ Studio is included with the application - it appears, however, that it is not working well on your system.

On that same system, I use Rhino 5 3D, which also has a plug-in for the 3D Mouse, and the 3D Mouse from 3DConnexion, Works as expected.

I updated my drivers, calibrated my 3D mouse, and still it is Super Sensitive to the touch, when the speed setting is set to "0" (or anywhere else for that matter).

I will file a ticket, and thanks for your help!

FWIW, I have a SpacePilot Pro and it works OK with Studio. Studio is just responding to the generic 3D Mouse event messages, so none of the extra buttons do anything by default. That's what a plugin/profile in the 3D Connexion manager would do for you. However, you can create your own profile and tell it to recognize DAZStudio.exe and then tell the buttons to send various key strokes. Not all options are available this way, but it still lets you control things.

My big issue with the 3D Mouse support in Studio is that Studio creates an undo stack entry for every movement performed using the 3D Mouse. This ended up being the deal breaker for me, as you can quickly fill the 20 undo stack entries with camera orbit/pan/etc from movements done with the 3D Mouse. Navigation via a regular mouse does not do this. I filed this as a bug report back when DAZ still had a real bug tracking system, but it still hasn't been addressed in 4.7 and I suspect the number of people with 3D Mice is so low that DAZ will never prioritize and fix it.

Thank you for the reply, and you would seem to have a better grasp on the issue, than I. And just for the record, it would be nice to be able to view and quote your reply, while formulating my communication to you.. .

I am sure the people at 3DConnection would be helpful, as they want there product to be an even interface (throughout the world) .

for Myself...Its 10 times too sensitive at "0" setting, than anything that I had attached to it and I have the original "spaceMouse (puck) to test with as well. Not the same outcome with Rhino 3D, there plug-in is flawless. They also have a shortcut library attached to there preferences, so you can create a custom shortcut set, and then key or button them via macro to that reference list of functions.

However if you can express to me how to circumvent the issue and get the 3D mouse to function correctly.... I am interested.

I will also have a word with 3DConnexion to see what there position is, and how helpful they can be?

    Greg

Thank you Richard, I have to feel that this should be the default, rather than an option, as most would miss it as I did.

    Hi fellow 3Dconnexion users

Not sure if this applies for DS 4.8 or 32bit, but if someone has similar issue I have, no harm comparing notes.

I've been using 3D mouse spacenavigator since 4.5.1.6 and it worked out of the box on my W764bit setup. I use the Orbit mode, sensitivity level and calibration is fine for me...banking is turned off, very intuitive decision. Good job overall. Cuts down the pain of super-clicky DS workflow. A tremendous help.

After DS 4.7 and very recent 3Dconnexion 3dxware64 10.2.2 driver, I could no longer pan in XY axis/ left right scroll. Orbiting objects also has wobbly pivot lock. When trying to calibrate DS's 3DC profile settings, an error pop-up shows up instead. Loss of access to 3DC profile settings panel calibrate means I can't fix the panning issues. Zendesk ticket submitted a few weeks ago.

I reverted to a very old 3DC driver version 3.16.3 which worked with DS but not with many other 3DC-compatible apps. Today I reintalled 10.2.2.. Same 10.2.2 DS behavior persists. Then I found the solutions.

I'm having fun again in DS. Happy. It's hard to go back to no 3D mouse once you have a taste of it. I dream the day Carrara gets 3D mouse support too.

So dear geniuses of Daz3D dev, please be sweet and kind and bestow upon long suffering Carrarists the super wrist savior of native 3DConnexion support.
    :)

I'm using a 3dconnexion Space Navigator with the latest driver. 10.2.3
    No specific driver for Daz.
Whilst in Daz press the button that brings up the configuration.
The first page has the main speed control, I slide this to the slowest setting.
Then in the Advanced tab of the Space Navigator settings there is individual sliders for speed for all motions.
These at the minimum settings again bring the sensitivity on mine to useable.
Still takes a while to get used to it.

It seems what limited support DAZ Studio has for the Space Navigator is limited to Windoze only. I see no 3DConnexion plug-in in my Mac Studio plug-ins list. Will we ever get Mac support??? Please?!?!?!?!?!?

I too had problems using my space navigator with DAZ, even though it worked great with Sketchup. The real solution for me was to set the "Dominant" feature in the 3dconnexion softtware (advanced settings | navigation | dominant should be checked). Once the dominant feature was activated my space navigator behaved much better as it seems to limit inputs to a single action rather than multiple actions at once. Hopefully this will help others too!

I would also love to see a 3D Connexion plug-in made for OSX - Being how most designers are using macs...

Just bought the 3Dconnexion SpaceMouse Wireless as my brother was using it with D|S but he is on a PC. Have there been any updates here for MAC OS El Capitan? I'd hate to have to return it.

I am sorry to say, there is no sign of any awareness from DAZ regarding the Space Navigator. It is sad, as it is a perfect fit. 3DConnexion says to appeal to DAZ, and DAZ ignores any inquiries or appeals for help.

I did get an answer from DAZ help desk today but it doesn't look good- there is no current timeline/deadline for the developers to supply the info to 3DConnexion.

This has been a mess for me as the 3DConnexion install disk kept my machine from booting up and I had to restore from a Time Machine backup, which doesn't fully restore some preferences and takes around 6 hours. Then downloading/installing the current driver to find out that it was never going to work.

I'm looking forward to an update on this thread at some point. Now I'm going to try and return this mouse to Amazon.

  • Daz should farm this out to an outside software contractor and have that person charge for upgrades that way we have better support.

Yes! I would gladly pay for a plug-in or whatever to make this work on my Mac.

Who should it be responsible for making the plug-in? Daz or 3D Connexion?  I've been using Windows on my Mac machine..  This needs to stop.  It's hinderance having to boot into Windows just to use the 3D mouse in Daz Studio app.

Does the Space navigator works on a Mac in DAZ3D or not?

    If yes, how?

  • Sadly, to the best of my knowledge, the answer is no, not without running one of the Windows solutions.. If someone figures out a way, I sure would like to hear about it. Neither 3DConnexion nor DAZ seem to be interested in doing anything about it.

Yes, i can confirm 3Dconnexion SpaceMouse doesn't work in DAZ3D on my Macbook Pro. So sad.

  • I have raised a ticket in an attempt to encourage the necessary plugin to be written. Please help the ticket by adding your support to it.
