Great updates, Headwax, Stezza, and UB.  I tried commenting before but the forum was acting up.  Thanks for the comment on the Creature from the Black Lagoon, Philemo.  Sorry if I missed anyone.  From North by Northwest to Doris Day to Indiana Jones, brings back great memories.  I spent three days on a train going from DC to San Francisco, but sadly Eva Marie Saint did not sit with me in the dining car.

terrific work Ub, nice crop, choice of angle and the glow of the whole is impressive. Plus the way the tie is flying - all those little details.

Never heard of Mort Kunstler = certainly a good artist to learn from thanks for the heads up ! I like his lighting especially

HW, I appreciate the good words.  In his early days (50s to 60's), Mort became famous for his illustrations in men's adventure magazines, a style which I tried to capture in a small way.  Later, he became known for historical paintings, particularly the American Civil war.  He is still alive at age 90, which is pretty cool.

Stezza, as usual you do great ensemble renders.  I have no idea what the movie is, however.

PS - if there is an elephant in the render, I can't see it. :)

    Not an Entry

I remain in the spirit of this challenge even if the forum software does not let us post.  Some doodling with the GMIC filter to mimic black and white film.

The iconic Bridgette Bardot has a famous scene from Love is My Profession.

If it is too dark, it is because I forgot the chandelier.

sorry real prepost I had scene aura ? turned on to make the glow, glow.

added reflection to some parts of the scene so I could use caustics - the light sabre is from a nice person on sharecg as is the retxturing of Valiant Garn trousers and boots.

the top is cheyenne top retextured -

the sci fi cabin has been retuxtured on the lights area

reworked yesterday's image as I thought it was garish = 6000 pixels

used normal map to relight the original render - the method is worth a gander if you have affinity photo  Relighting 3D renders | Affinity Photo for desktop tutorials (serif.com)

Surprised it is not an entry.  Very well done.  Who is the male character?

  • Bunyip, thanks for the NBNW comment.

HW - I agree with Bunyip.  I also like the first version of Luke the best.  I guess that garish is in the eye of the beholder. :)

thank you UB - I thought it was over processed :) Yes garishness is in the eye of the beholden :)

    the movie

That would make a nice movie project in Carrara.  Break down the movie cut by cut, save out the soundtrack, and use carrara to duplicate each scene,  using carrara actors.
