"Heya, it's me, Imoen" - new Bluejaunte character

https://www.daz3d.com/imoen-hd-with-hd-expressions-for-genesis-81-female

^New character by Bluejaunte - not only looks great (of course) but I love the name. I can't be the only one here who heard a voice say "Heya, it's me, Imoen" upon seeing the name. And although not a lookalike, this new character could cosplay as the Baldur's Gate stalwart thief/mage.

  • The first thing of note is .. irregular and real looking teeth in a great smile. Very good.

Then..  the clothing fit over her small bust is 'normal', ie not great but what you normally see with a character having a small bust. I wish it was possible for the clothing to fit small bust characters better without the sag where the cleavage would go with a more well endowed character.

Then her waist-hip & shoulder ratios all look 'real' rather than 'surgically sculpted' leading to a much more believable character shape. All-in-all a very impressive and real looking character.

    Regards,

    Richard

None of those are selling points for me (especially the teeth), but the character look well made as usual.

I fully agree. She has the perfectly imperfect "cute girl next door" look.

The "perfectly imperfect" always bring a slice of realism to a render.

Hey guys, thanks for the comments! Good place to show the included smile with tongue expression, because the tongue is sculpted in more detail and the material is much improved. Daz didn't let me show this in the promos because tongue-licking is against the promo rules.

Oh yeah and Imoen (only the name that is) definitely came from Baldur's Gate. Apparently it's a variation of the more common Imogen.

She looks like she needs a projection morph to deal with the bust fit. Print textures sag, zippers are distorted, cleavage area bulges. As richardandtracy mentioned, this is not unusual for Daz characters, but a character that could avoid that would be an outstanding asset.

So there's an SCP and a Baldur's Gate reference here in the same character? Damn, you already had me at 'new bluejaunte release'.

I've been conditioned to automatically read an "oe" as an anglicization of ö, making this character Imön.

I like her!  I especially like the teeth variation from the usual "perfect" teeth.  She reminds me of an old friend I had in middle school.

Is the Head morph seperate from the body?

  • bluejauntebluejaunte Posts: 1,922

Yup, and the HD morphs too.

All I could hear while reading "Heya, it's me, Imoen" is The B52’s, “It’s me, Modeen.”

I like her face shape, but for that price I also expect a gen map in the package.

  • There are freebie alternative UV's available to use the torso map on the standard DAZ Gens. Can't remember where they are, but I think Renderosity freebies may be one place, or do a search of the freebie forum here, though the results are likely to be very random.

The free ones by Cayman Studios, for G3F. But you can manually copy install the UVs into the G8F gens (even the G8M female gens) folder to use them there.

Skin Builder for G8F also has torso UVs for the gens. I think there's a Linday product too, but I'm unsure of which one.

If you have NGV8, it creates the necessary textures on the fly.

The obvious thing that Daz could do is to create that same automated process, that would solve all of us a lot of headaches, not to mention their own artists.

In DAZ world that would be a PA only tool

Ha, maybe! That would still be better than nothing. At least you'd see more gens textures provided then. I would definitely advocate for this to be free for all though, just a script as part of the gens. On the other hand, why even bother when there's better third party alternatives anyway.

I don't know, the Daz gens are in a kind of weird place, tucked away into Pro bundles, inconvenient for PA's to create textures for, probably not versatile enough for those who do full on porn anyway, but good enough for just tasteful nudes, but then again so would be a way more convenient regular HD morph right on the base figure, but that they don't allow because it's somehow too naughty or... it's still confusing to me. It's somewhat surprising that they didn't just stop providing gens entirely, or do the opposite and accept that genitals are a part of the human body and treat them as such without all the weirdness.

That would allow people have gens on the wrong characters, definite no no... (trying not to breach the TOS)

  • DIM is listing an update to Imoen, but the readme does not mention what has been changed. Due to recent experiences with such updates, I am hesitating to hit the dowmload button.

It's fine, I fixed an issue with the neck that I noticed. There was an unintended dent near the throat area.

  • I love it when sellers show additional products in the renders that are not included in the package (hair, clothing) but don't bother to tell what those products are

Well, the Daz store products used are shown at the bottom of the page. For other, non-Daz stuff, there is a Daz rule that PA's are not allowed to list them.

Thanks a lot for the explanation - and the fix laugh

I took the time and listed them all I think. What are you missing?

<sigh> I didn't notice that they were listed at the bottom. I was expecting to find the list in or around the product description somehow. So embarrassing - my apologies.

No worries, I actually did the same a while ago. I even opened a ticket because of it smiley

So I briefly looked into the gens issue, here's a quick fix to get a pretty usable result:

    1. Google "GenTorso UV for G8F" and download it from Rendo, it's free
    2. Open the zip and unzip it into into your content library. It has a "DAZContent" base folder, make sure you don't unzip that but go one in to the "data" folder and unzip from there
    3. Open or restart Daz Studio and load the Imoen character or just her material on a Genesis 8.1 Female figure
    4. Load the Genesis 8 Female Genitalia
    5. Load a Genitalia material from Victoria 8.1 or I guess any other Daz figure, you must have one since you got the genitalia from a Pro bundle. This will give you the correct new skin shader
    6. With Imoen selected, go the surface tab, click on the "Body" surface group, right-click and choose "Copy Selected Surface(s)"
    7. Select the Genitalia in the Scene tab
    8. Right-click on "Genitalia"surface group and choose "Paste Selected Surface(s)"
    9. In the material settings scroll all the way down to 'UV Set" and set it to "G8GenTorso"

This matches up my existing torso texture somewhat well with the gens. I found an even better match though, if you have zev0's Skin Builder 8 installed you can instead select "SB 8 Torso UV" in the last step and that seems pretty much perfect. Hope that helps.

Yeah I think I got confused, cause previously I purchased another character of yours (Ensley) and there the additional products were given as a list.

Your characters are truly nice, keep them coming yes
