OH NO! What's Happened to Victoria 8 ?

I loaded nothing into the scene except the figure Genesis 8 Female, and the figure Victoria 8. They look hideous. I tried loading other Genesis 8 Female characters and they're ALL UGLY. What happened to them? I opened a new scene and loaded them again, and they're still grotesque. I tried loading other Genesis 8 Females and they're ALL sickening looking. What do I have to do to fix this? I'm HORRIFIED! I tried Teen Josie 8. Same thing. It doesn't matter if I load the ACTOR of the character, or load Genesis 8 Female and then apply the character - they're all freakin' awful.

Switch from textures view to Iray.
you saved over it with a morph dialed in
She looks like the witch from the Wizard of Oz.
You have installed a morph / character that has it's default value set at something non-zero
Why, it is a useful expression!
to get rid of it select the character in the scene port, then in the parameters port click on "currently used" and everything which has to do with expression you can reset by leftclick + alt on the percentage number...
USEFULL? It's making every G8F hideous.
There is NOTHING currently used except Victoria 8 - no expression, no anything.
I set everything to ZERO. She's still hideous.
I'm going to have nightmares.
I saved over what with a morph dialed in? Genesis 8 Female? How do I get rid of it?
Check recent figure installs. I had this issue in the past and it was a new product that caused the problem. Uninstalled and the problem went away. Don't remember what figure caused the issue.
There is a triangle menu just above the parameters tab, which allows you to see hidden values. Then go over currently used with a fine comb.
Alternatively, deinstall any characters you added from the time you think it happened, that might work as well.
wurger and Paintbox - All I installed was a Genesis 8.1 Female character - and I noticed that it is in the G8F folder - there is no G8.1F folder. So there's 8 and 8.1 in the same folder.
I made the HIDDEN VALUES visible - and there's still nothing unusual in the Currently Used list.
Did you say sth wrong to her, or treat her in any way unpolitely?
You could reinstall the character.
Edit: sorry, unable to recreate
I would suggest removing the Genesis 8 essentials and Victoria 8, and reinstall them. Most likely, it is the Genesis 8 female that had a non zero value installed (probably an expression... that doesn't look like a morph to me).
I had this happen with G2 as well. I had to load G2F then zero the character which should zero all morphs. Then add the morphs you do want and save the character as a scene subset.
But finding the culprit bad morph ( like explained above ) is the best way to get rid of it for good.
In parameters... there's a properties tab above with choices to zero figure, zero pose, zero morphs, etc... choose 'zero figure' and it will totally zero all morphs and translations, etc
Thankyou, @ColemanRugh, I didn't know that one, learned sth!
@Fauvist select the parameters tab, then the little menuebox above it (sandwich icon with play button), then "Zero" and then "Zero shape" and "Zero figure". Maybe you are lucky...
This happened to me when I installed Demona for G8F from Rendo last year... It drove me crazy because I didn't know what was going on. I had to google to learn what was the problem and how to solve it by opening the duf file and changing the offending parameter. To this date the creator hasn't fix the issue and the character is few years old. In my case the morph didn't show up in the “currently use” filter because the value of 1 was set as default and therefore is not recognised as a modified (read used) value. I had to show hidden parameters and go one by one until I found the freaking head morph slider.
Richard Haseltine posted this in another thread recently with someone who had the same issue (not necessarily the same character). How to identify what morph is loading with a non zero number.
Load the Dev Load version of the figure
Zero it (Edit>Figure>Zero>Zero Figure)
Memorise it (Edit>Figure>Memorise>Memorise Figure)
Go to File>Save As>Support Assets>Save Modified Assets - the dialogue box will tell you which properties have been changed, which should identify the problem.
I have had this issue in the past and agee that 'Currently used', even with hidden shown, didn't show the culprit. Had to go through the, humongous, full list :(
Some might find that useful.
But they're probably demented geniuses striving for uniquity.
It didn't work. I uninstalled Genesis 8 Female Essentials; Victoria 8; Genesis 8 Female Body Morphs; Genesis 8 Female Head Morphs; Genesis 8 Female Expressions -----and then reinstalled them. It had no effect on the ugly morph/expression that is plaguing my Genesis 8 Female Characters.
If it's a non-zero default then you need to fix or remove the morph with the non-zero default, uninstalling/reinstalling other content will have no effect.
Hi Richard,
To the best of your knowledge, has there been any comment on this issue with regard to DS5? This framework bug and the load times are the things I most hope will be addressed.
I found the problem. After looking at EVERY slider for Genesis 8 Female (for 2 .5 hours) - the NEW Genesis 8 Female I installed. Other than eyelashes - the sliders were all set to ZERO except one. The slider has the name "ziah caharacter" which was set to 100%. When I set "ziah" to ZERO, the distortion in the face of G8F disappeared.
I attached a couple of screen shots, maybe somebody can tell me what's going on. One image shows two G8F figures loaded side by side. The figure on the right has the "ziah" slider set at 100%, which is how G8F loads; and the figure on the left which is G8F with the "ziah" slider set at ZERO - problem gone.
I don't have a character named "ziah"; and the name on the slider doesn't start with a capital letter, it starts with a lower-case "z". The 2nd word on the slider is "caharacter" which isn't a word, but I assume it is supposed to be CHARACTER. The slider is an odd color - purple and lime-green.
I opened the Parameter Settings for this "ziah caharacter" and the Path goes to People/Real World. There are only 2 products in that place - “EbilBaby”, and “iV Real Voluptuous Bea.… “ Neither of those products have “ziah” in their names. I check ALL the files for both those products and neither of them contain “ziah” or “caharacter”. So the path is incorrect.
So I did a search of ALL my content for the misspelled “caharacter” and I found it. I did install a character named Ziah for G8F which I bought - not at DAZ3D - but at another site - and it’s a legitimate legal content site, and I paid for the character. I’ve NEVER loaded the character, and I don’t know why it’s attached itself to the G8F figure - BUT HOW DO I GET RID OF IT?
@TheMysteryIsThePoint - respectfully, could you please start your own thread to ask your question? I've being trying to solve my problem for 2 days and having another question introduced into this thread only compounds the confussion. Thanks
The change log is here http://docs.daz3d.com/doku.php/public/software/dazstudio/4/change_log
This thread is about figures loading with morphs applied, which is bot a bug in the aplication in any event. I'm not sure what you mean by Framework bug.
something like this happened when fo;ks installed the G8M figure "Baku"
it changed all the G8M figures to "Baku" (its been fixed now.
if you look for the forum post it may "?" help you fix this
I'll try using the search function to find "Baku". Thanks
