So which plugins do we know about? Are fixes in the works? Or are too many things still up in the air on this? Most likely the last query.
All plugins will need to be updated to work with DS5 since the base libraries used by DS will change. For some it would just require recompiling with the new SDK, for others more than that might be needed.
Fixes are most likely not in the works yet since DS5 is still a work in progress and not available to anybody.
And yes, there are plugins which will never be updated. GenX2 is one of them, the creator passed away years ago so there won't be a DS5 version. It will still work in DS4 though, so you will still be able to use it if you keep DS4 installed too.
I believe I read somewhere that Accelerator cannot be manually installed, is this the case?
Also, if I remember correctly, the C66 Graphics Plug-in needed for the Toolboxes doesn't work in 4.15? I don't want to end up buying something I can't use.
The manual installer for the Acclerator excludes the actual program so you are correct. You will need to use DIM. Never, ever, ever allow DAZ connect anywhere near Ultrascenery or any of the add-ons or required products.
The C66 graphics plug-in works fine with DS 4.15, on both my PCs.
@alexhcowley Thanks, I'll throw the plugin and toolboxes in the wishlist then. Shame about the accelerator, I install everything manually and I'm not keen on installing dim for just one item.
Folks, I have been buying UltraScenery products if not on the day of release, then on the next one. So, generally with only the 30% off, unless there is a sale going on. This is a great chance to pick up a stellar product.
I only get a chance to use it every once and a while and it is very easy, (if you read the manual, pay attention to the thread, and study barbult's comments), and best of all, Howie is actively updating it when something is needed or just improving it. And other PAs are working with him. This is an incredible system with so much flexiblity. And if you hangout on the forum thread in Commercial, you can give input as well.
Besides those threads have fantastic artwork by a lot of people who are generous with their advice.
I noticed today the Ultra Scenery Toolbox Volume One as well as Volume Two are on sale. So is UltraScatterPro. Having no experience with Ultrascenery just yet, would it be wise for me to put those products in my cart? Will I end up buying them anyway when I work with Ultrascenery or are they completely unnecessary?

Someone like Barbult might be able to tell you if you can accomplish the same kinds of things that the add-ins do without them, but her methods seem rather fiddly, so even if you can do the same things without them, there's sure to be an ease-of-use benefit, as is often the case with such utilities. Be aware that they both require the C66 Graphics Plugin, which is also on sale.
If you already have UltraScenery, have had it for a while & have not explored it much, then there is no point whatsoever in getting the toolbox scripts/plugins. They simply extend the capabilities of US by enabling you do some of the more advanced features more easily. If you haven't explored its capabilities, the ability to extend those capabilities seems like a waste of money to me. Alienator Pro (also by Code66) works with US to replace environments, and is another extension feature that I feel is not much point unless you use US a lot or are exploring the outer limits of what can be done with it.
If, however, you've only had it a day or two & want to do everything, see everywhere in it, make US the most used tool in DS for a significant time, then yes, get them.
In my view, the most useful thing for US is the accelerator. That should be a purchase before the toolboxes because it makes generating the landscape a joy rather than a timeconsuming wait. The generation of each landscape dropped from 20+ minutes to about 2mins with the accelerator on my [moderately fast] machine. It means I have experimented much more with US than I would have done otherwise.
As for UltrascatterPro, it's nothing to do with UltraScenery & doesn't help US at all. It has its own uses, just not related to US.
It's so good that I would run DS4 alongside DS5 just to use it. But I agree with Hylas.
Realistically, you'd probably only need DS4 to create the UltraScenery ecology, save it, then open it in DS5.
I do this with Blender all the time. I have my add-ons all set up for 2.90 and I just don't feel like finding all the zips to reinstall everything but I'm using 3.0 now, so I just load everything I want in 2.90, save it and open it in 3.0 and carry on.

Hope that helps, if only a little.
