A Pro Bundle, and not yet on page 2; that says something to me, although not sure what.
I'm hoping it does decently, but I'm guessing not.
The Arcadia Pro bundle seems to be glitched and not showing in the store's What's Hot, but more surprising, male content is higher ranked than the Arcadia 8.1 figure. Given how abysmal male content sells, that's pretty amazing.
It is not related to dforce. It is an issue within Iray itself, one it has always had. You may recall the dark eye problem on characters away from the center point, this is the same problem. It is where the mesh overlaps and transprancy is involved, the numbers get fudgy farther away from the center point and you get these black lines and other effects.
The problem got worse when Daz added this "auto" option, and I don't think auto was ever properly explained. I don't know what auto is supposed to do, but it sucks. It is by far the worst option, and you can even have this issue pop up on a character sitting right at the world center.
The question of which one works better can change. Often times either speed or memory fix it. Sometimes one works better han the other. Supposedly memory should fix it, but sometimes I have seen speed work better. Sometimes it depends on the version of Daz, because I could swear I have created scenes where the better choice flipped. But one thing is certain, auto is NEVER the best choice.
What the settings do is shift the world center to the camera point temporarily for the render. That is all they do, it isn't anything special. I forget the actual difference between speed and memory. Thankfully this setting saved with your scene saves, so if you work from a saved scene you don't have to change it every time. But when working from a new scene it is easy to forget until you see it in your render.
I once made a thread experimenting with these, rendering a character thousands of meters away from the world center. It got ugly! It didn't just effect the eyes, it also altered the skin depending on SSS settings. The chromatic SSS turned into a devilish looking character. It was wild.
Gotcha, thank you so much for explaining this. I am going to start experimenting with this and see what works better in the scenes I'm doing.
As Iunderstand it it is the act of changing the setting which resets the origin, not that Memory is inherently better than than Auto on Speed in this respect. The labels are pretty clear - Memory reduces the memory load (at the expense of speed), Speed optimises for speed (at the expense of memory)
Initial dabbling in the dark arts may have a deleterious dermatological effect evidently, if Arcadia's skin is due to that. New character thread, and half of it is about something else? Are Core Figures kaput or the forums?
The banner ad and all the special offers have disappeared after being up for only two days. Also the Arcadia section of today's daily email leads to an OOPs page.
Oddly enough, I actually bought her and the Merlin bundle. The last bundle I bought I think was Kwan or Kayo (I got them both, so whichever can after would have been my last DO bundle). No, wait! I got Coral a few weeks ago in a super sale, but she was pretty old when I got her. Just goes to show that these releases aren't as memorable as they once were, but that's beside the point I suppose. I like the environment and other stuff she came with, same with the Merlin bundle, didn't really need another wizard-type character, but he came with some fun stuff and the wizard tower is pretty cool.
I actually think Kwan and Kayo were the first of these new bundles, the non-pro/starter What was it; the trooper bundle and space invader or whatever? At the time I thought "Oh cool! Some monsters, a few guns, and environments? Sign me up for this new style bundle!" Boy was I wrong. I like that there's other stuff in these bundles, but the pricing is crazy, and the incentives? $7 of V4 stuff? Why even bother at this point? Anyone using V4 at this point in time isn't going to want to sift through the same stuff they've been picking over for over a decade (or is it two by now?).
But I digress...
I actually do like her, and her skin isn't so bad. I didn't care for any of the makeup she came with, so that might be where the plaster face comes from, but I didn't notice anything overtly offensive about her skin. Here's my first two out of the box render of her.
Wow, converting them to jpg killed a lot of the detail. Maybe I should post them in the gallery and link them. They were 11mb and 22mb respectively and the forum didn't like them.
Anyways, I added a lot of dial spins to her from this point on, mostly with her body (it was a bit plane, not that there's anything wrong with a plane body irl, but this isn't real life, I like my characters to be somewhat super human, because that's half the fun of this stuff)
Thanks for posting the photos, brimstoneomega! I really like her/bundle but was really hoping they would have increased the incentives from her launch sale, but it looks like her banner was quietly removed. Looking forward to picking this up some day in the future :)
Here's one that's a bit more fun!
Let's see if I remember how to embed an image... only 800 wide, right?
Nice little scene there. Thank you so much for posting some renders!
At one time, I would've bought her because she has the same name as one of Duran Duran's spin-off projects/bands.
Thankfully, I'm not that shallow anymore. ^^'
Although it is good to see the return of the Starter and Pro Bundles.
Anybody know who the character used in the Cangfa Hair promo is?
The person that did the promo does!
The face morph looks alot like Hui which is also by the same PA, but different skin https://www.daz3d.com/hui-and-expressions-for-genesis-81-female
I have a feeling that it's not a good sign when a core character has been out for almost a month and barely any images have been posted. I used to base my decisions on buying a character based on the images in these threads but as they become less common, it's harder to figure out a characters versatility.
@jd641 I don't think you can judge Arcadia (or any other core figure) based on lack of renders or responses on their eponymous threads because a lot of the diehard regulars seem (judging by their posts) miffed with Daz and pretty much over the excitement that formerly accompanied a core figure release. There was a time when Arcadia's thread would have been full of glee over her pores and varied face topography! But the usual forumites have become cynical unfortunately.
yes we have been told time and time again we are the 1%'ers and I myself have completely stopped buying the DAZ bundles, pretty much all new stuff, just the occasional heavily discounted things because I am weak and a sucker.![cheeky cheeky](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/tongue_smile.png)
The big spending customers don't post on the forum much, it has been hinted also it is because we forumites are too toxic![surprise surprise](https://www.daz3d.com/forums/plugins/ckeditor/js/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/omg_smile.png)
she looks cool but I won't be buying her or anything else any time soon.
There are Genesis 3 characters I'd repurchase as G8.1 if only for their HD morphs, but many new core characters simply don't add much new and unique.

I wouldn't rely on forums and user posts to judge any product. Always best to try it for yourself, you have nothing to lose with DAZ's return policy.
I'm not sure I'd entrely agree with that. Whenever I think about buying an older product I always check (through daz deals add on I think?) the dropdown 'forum mentions' because they'll always have interesting things to say that can very much inform a purchase decision. Especially when there are problems like missing metedata or things that effect the base G8 character which has been cropping up occasionally, which you can then check the readmes to see if have been fixed.
Cynicism? Definitely. We quite like moaning about sales that don't work too, I think that's about 80% of our forum real estate. But hey, if ya don't moan, it won't get fixed. I wouldn't mind just a little more levity though, since there's lots of celebrate about DAZ too -- if not the management, then definitely the artists/moderators/artworks etc.
As for Arcadia, if it's images you want, check the gallery. There's some nice ones there (best way I find is to go to the Arcadia product and check the gallery mentions from it. Sure, lots of people don't credit the products used, but you'll get a good selection of pretty high-quality artworks)
Please don't hate me for saying this. But I think all the characters, clothing and props coming out all look the same, similar themed recycled from the past. Maybe it's me I guess I've looked through and bought so many figures of the years I just have become desensitized to them. But, as long as others enjoy them it's all good!
