Something special tomorrow ?

From today's post by DAZ3D on their Facebook page:

Summer Solstice was yesterday. That means the year is half over. But ‪#‎DAZ3D‬ has so much more to come this year. Shhhh... Something BIG & EXCITING is right around the corner! Be sure to check tomorrow and be the first to know we we've got in store! ‪#‎DAZsurprise

So what is happening tomorrow? Another new character? Or a big sale? Or some other big surprise?

    I still have some Genesis 1 stuff on my wish list...

    Ah well, it's not like Genesis 2 is going to disappear from my runtime. :) And being broke means I'll be waiting at least until October to get whatever bundle(s) are released. ;)

    (Yes, I am expecting it to be Genesis 3/Victoria 7. It's the most logical 'Big thing")

    A two year development cycle for Genesis 3 does make sense, even if my wallet is significantly less than thrilled (not to mention all the things I was hoping to eventually see for G2)

    But maybe it will be the custom 3D printing...

    Go to Product Library and type Daz Studio 4.8 and look at what is included. It should be there.

    Ah yes. Interesting that it is called Genesis 3 starter essentials and not Genesis 3 female essentials.

    Somewhat less database work to start as you mean to go on. One is a package within the other, and you can just save a database entry slot for G3M, when he comes along. Otherwise, you have to do the sort of edit they did with the Genesis 2 Starter Essentials, which mucks up dates (see below).

    For whatever it may be worth: M6 came out in November 2013, but the PC/PA sales have moved since then, so M7, assuming similar development cycles, may be out in September or October instead -- which would probably put G3M out in July or August. Rather closer to G3F than G2M was to G2F, as I recall. (The dates on G2F and G2M in the Starter Essentials are unreliable. The dates were reset when they were bundled that way, which means that V6 now appears to have come out MUCH earlier than the figure for which she was designed.)

    So the real question is 'what have they fixed/enhanced in the mesh' to make this truly genesis 3?

    As of the current download-

    G3F UVs: different than G2F and does not come with any alternative UV sets.

    Surfaces: G3F has 17, whereas G2F had 28.

    SubD/Base (less than G2F)-
    Vertices: 68744/17418
    Tris: 0
    Quads: 68000/17000
    Total Faces: 68000/17000

    Does come with an autofit template for G2F.

    Noticed Genesis 3 starter essentials in my downloads. Does NOT come with any Iray skin material. Skin uses AoA SSS shader. Will auto fit G2F clothes and hair only. UVs are called Base Female, but don' t know if that is the same as G2F Base Female. By default does not support any other UVs.

    Here is a quick render with some random G2F hair and clothes.

    I noticed it just then in my DIM too. Haven't d/l yet.

    What exactly comes with the starter essentials - just the base female Genesis 3?

    And I also saw an update for 4.8 in their too...guessing we need that to use Genesis 3?

    Figure, very basic materials, 2 outfits, hair, and poses. Not much atm.

    The included Dark Storm outfit is pretty nice. So happy the little cape is actually rigged correctly! :)

    I'm gonna need to see more renders of V7 - I just can't see any major differences right now to justify buying another bloody figure. I do know at some stage I will bite the bullet however - it took me about a year to get Genesis 2 and I adore it LOL

    Seems to have AoA SSS skin material, some clothes, one hair and some poses. Not sure if how well G2F poses work. I applied one and it seemed to work.

    Here are most of the body parts. G3F has a lot more.
