How is the Rig of Genesis 3?
are there changes in the bones structure? like bones for the toes now or are there no changes in the rig against Gen2?
What will daz do about animation in dazstudio? now with launch of the Alembic Exporter...
the old studio problems with the IK (hip rotation, shaky feet...) all are still there.
a full work out IK setup wanted please, (IK/FK and CK if possible)
better parenting setup and fix the timeline so people finally can play, edit, delete the keyframes fast and easy without problems.
animation setup was promised in dazstudio 5. Where at 4.9 no highlights showing up so far.
but Iray was definitly a Daz HIT!
any animate goodies in the works? PhysX in dazstudio?

you can export her to iClone 6 and use PhysX
I had to manually set her up but the facial bones give lots of flexibility in expression editor
They added a couple of extra body zones (Upper and lower chest and neck), and connected the collars to the upper one. Nice for a little extra bending, not so great if you're trying to use G2F poses. We'll get the same problem in the current aniblocks as well.
I don't know about the rest, but we're going to have to deal in all the fun stuff.
On the plus side, Jeane can wear Big Sister's eye colors. Not much of a plus, but DAZ was kind enough to build in a clone for G2F, so she won't go underdressed for awhile.
What happens next? No idea. The rig works, but it's definitely not what we're used to. Two extra bones in the spine are going to be hilarious.
again I am ahead with iClone, I can retarget the aniblocks exported for her like I do quadrupeds even
any pics with the bone setup?
may be gen3 it's something for maya lt finally
in 3x6
Guys, does anybody know where to find the base Genesis 3 figures? They are not in my Install Manager and I cant find them in the store.
g3 is only buy and not free with daz studio
It says here - http://www.daz3d.com/genesis-3 that the genesis 3 characters are "included in your FREE download of daz studio". So I thought the bases were free.
G3F is in DIM for me.
I haven't had a chance to test myself, but I believe that there are now toe bones and there are certainly facial bones for expressions, which I recall has been on fixme's wishlist.
Genesis 3 starter essentials.
Really its not in the DIM for me. I guess I need to find it in the store first but I keep looking and I just can´t find it. If anybody finds it I´d really appreciate a link : )
Product library
Not in my DIM either---at least I don't remember it. In fact I didn't get anything else when I got the final release of 4.8.
Off on a hunting trip....
Oh thanks I see it now! But I still cant download it via DIM. Any idea why that would be? I have the lastest version of DIM installed but when I click on Download and Install via DIM, it opens but G3 does not show up.
I know I can download it manually but I was just wondering if there was any way to get it working with DIM as its much more comfortable : )
Close DIM on your machine, load it again, and you should see Genesis 3 Starter Essentials in the Ready to Download tab. If it is not there, then you should check your filters in DIM to make sure that you have the correct ones ticked.
I have the same problem. I have the latest version of Daz Studio installed but it did not offer or install G3F. When I try to download G3F manually it fails.
Hey there Jimmy!
Tried closing and in my filters I selected I want to display content for DS 4.5 and higher. So that should be okay as well.
All okay here and it was easy.
Went to my Product Library and searched for DAZ Studio 4.8.
Clicked the button to download and install with DIM (which was open)
Genesis 3 Essentials showed up and I installed.
All the other stuff (lights shaders and Studio itself etc) Dim put on the installed tab (DIM is smart)
The other stuff on the Download tab is stuff I'm not installing.
They may be staggering the rollout to DIM to reduce load on the servers. You can download it from your Product Library using the blue Download button and put it in your DIM downloads folder, and DIM should then see it and allow you to install it.
Tried that and even though Genesis 3 now shows up in DIM, when I click on "Download" I instantly get the message " Download Failed". : (
Okay I have downloaded the .zip file manually. Where exactly do I place it? Can´t seem to find the DIM Downloads folder.
And do I place the entire .zip file there or the content inside?
Confirm that, even after several attempts/tweaks, there is no trace of G3 in DIM.
Start DIM, click the gear icon in top right and look at the listed path on the Downloads tab. Open that in Windows Explorer and put the complete zip in that directory (there should be other IM zips). Restart DIM and it should show up on the Ready to Install tab.
Edit: A much easier way is to Control Click the button with the 3 dots, it'll open the download directory in Windows Explorer. Also, it was pointed out to me that one can hit refresh instead of restart DIM (icon on left of Account at the top) :)
If you open Install Manager and log in, then open your internet browser and log into the store. Go to Product Library on the store and find it in your list, then click the green button and DIM should get the filter and files correctly.
Or just wait until the part of the store that DIM talks to catches up, which is usually less than 5 minutes, however with high traffic.... :)
Oh that did the trick! Thanks guys : ) Lets give her a render : )
About the bones, there are much more articulations indeed, mostly on the torso/upper body (2 more bones), neck, the hands, and the feet. Hands and feet are now properly articulated (separated heel/metacarpal/toes), like on real people. Here is a quick test render I made when testing it the first time, it shows the difference about the feet :

That is beautiful. They can now dance, and look like there is real weight on the foot.
The facial rigging looks pretty interesting ! : ))
WOW... starter essentials ... 500 Mb's.... WHOA!
