are there changes in the bones structure? like bones for the toes now or are there no changes in the rig against Gen2?

What will daz do about animation in dazstudio? now with launch of the Alembic Exporter...

the old studio problems with the IK (hip rotation, shaky feet...) all are still there.
a full work out IK setup wanted please, (IK/FK and CK if possible)
better parenting setup and fix the timeline so people finally can play, edit, delete the keyframes fast and easy without problems.

animation setup was promised in dazstudio 5. Where at 4.9 no highlights showing up so far.
but Iray was definitely a Daz HIT!

any animate goodies in the works? PhysX in dazstudio?

About the bones, there are much more articulations indeed, mostly on the torso/upper body (2 more bones), neck, the hands, and the feet. Hands and feet are now properly articulated (separated heel/metacarpal/toes), like on real people. Here is a quick test render I made when testing it the first time, it shows the difference about the feet :

That is beautiful. They can now dance, and look like there is real weight on the foot.

Thank you :) , and yes, the feet on their own do make a huge improvement in term of realism

I´m not sure how facial rig like this works in DS but having the whole face well rigged should produce more natural looking expressions.

I've done rigging (albeit on a primitive for learning how) :ohh: I'm not going to attempt to rig that many bones on a face in studio :blank: that's insane, lol.

yea, about those. is that what they meant by "points of articulation”, or is that just bones after converting G3F to iClone?
no the bones are there in DS too and you can select and pull them with the bone movement tool, damn I wish she worked in Carrara I could do so many cool expressions!!!!

I'm having trouble too. I found the product page, and from there I can get it to show up in DIM, but when I try to install it says 'download failed'

They get money for Carrara, and if it can't use G3, well, that would not be good for business. Or is Carrara like Hexagon (the development team is not around any more), hmm.

rumour has it DAZ thinks Carrara users do not buy much content, with 4400+ items in DIM I must be an exception but admit I do mostly use M4, V4 and even 3&2 as triax just gives me too many issues, I use all the later stuff in iClone though and G3F proved successful for that. Not Poser at all either though and I use that too.
It cerainly seems that the future is DS only mostly.

BOT. Dose G3F/M come with pose dials for the feat like G2F/M has on the hands? Or is it Highlight groups of bones at a time method only for the time being?
    (EDIT)
thistledownsname, don't disrepair, the servers are probably beyond flooded right now. I'm holding off on installing the rest of the G2F/M content I purchased this past Friday till later on.

I haven't downloaded starting essentials yet, but one of PAs claimed in the V7 thread that G3 is no longer triax and you can actually load fbx exported G3 figure into max or maya. Maybe it works that way in carrara too?

Well I can certainly load the FBX retargeted from iClone animated into Carrara but no facial animation, nobody on Carrara forum has had any success with the DAZ studio alone FBX, I possibly could create NLA clips for bone poses to use in the mimic plugin in Carrara but that too will be very fiddly.
Is early days though and I am hoping more will come that may solve some issues if not from DAZ from Reallusion in iClone 3Dxchange.

I only had MAX for 30 days last year and had no problems getting Genesis 1 rigged and animated into that BTW.

you can export her to iClone 6 and use PhysX
I had to manually set her up but the facial bones give lots of flexibility in expression editor

G3 is already supported by iClone? I got tired of the mess of animating in DS, so I'm trying iClone, but haven't even been able to successfully import G2F.

How much work was it to manually set her up? I'm a complete iClone newbie.

mostly by scratch like a non-DAZ figure but you can get fingers and some bones using the Genesis preset in the retargetting window.
If nobody else does I may do a simple tutorial but not today, I am still learning.
Eyes must be added to eyes and jaw and top bottom teeth to teeth in facial extend bones too.
You can look at tutorials for other figures of course like MAX, Unity etc imports.
It is not easy to bake facial expressions to the timeline for export in DAZ either I had to use puppeteer and have one do with all zeroed and another all dialed up to make it stick which makes me wonder how you animate them even in DAZ.
You need to manually set them all using the sliders in expression editor.

and posing smoothly? The problem with G1/G2 was that exporting to FBX converted to general Weightmapping so the joints, where the twist map was markedly different from the bends or where the bulge maps did a lot of work, looked very poor.
